I wanted to write an ode to his voice but I have an exam tomorrow and 4 hours left to sleep, so I'm just going to say unf. Alastair's performance in the prison scene sent shivers down my spine.

"Buried thunder"...I love that description! Yes, his voice is great. AP did an amazing job with him.
Speaking of which (courtesy of thievinghippo on Tumblr): https://www.youtube....LCQ8kYTs#t=4979 (01:23:00)
Please tell me I'm not the only one now imagining him breaking into a heartfelt musical number during the judgement scene.
After just watching Galavant a bit earlier, I can now totally visualize that happening after having been put into a musical frame of mind - haha!
And in what turns out to be a funny coincidence, I wrote this scene in Chapter 2 (yeah, I really am working on that follow-up...) where the Inquisitor sings briefly and Blackwall ends up saying that she's the one more suited for singing than he is. Needless to say, now that I've heard AP singing in the video, I really had to laugh at the line that I wrote.

Quick question. Does Blackwall strike anyone as the stay at home dad type? He does ask the PC if she wants to have a dog and stuff right? XD

Wow, you can tell I'm a stay at home mom, because I went "well, I mean, he does seem like he'd be good at it, but no one is a great SAHP by themselves, you need support, and Blackwall would need to find other moms and dads who shared his interests and parenting styles, and would that be feasible while living at Skyhold, and how would he and Quizzie deal with that changing dynamic and..."
Er, I mean, he definitely could be. I imagine he wouldn't want to be out of the field for too long though?
Oh man, sorry, now my head is just creating all kinds of headcanons where the parents at Skyhold create like a co-op where they can all alternate going out on adventures and watching eachother's kids and Varric reads stories and...I'll stop.
Okay, so uh. Yes?

Varric as everyone's babysitter - hahaha! Well, I guess he can eventually write a parenting guide as part of his non-fiction body of work.

I can only picture the way Blackwall would handle a parent teacher conference. I can tell that the Inquisitor will be the only one attending meeting little Greybrick's teachers when he gets in trouble. Blackwall is always avoiding confrontation till the last minute.

lol - I sure hope he doesn't, because I suspect that I'm even more likely than he is to skip out on something like that. Maybe a coin toss would settle the issue of who would actually have to attend.

And if he loses you wake up the next day to a note on the dinning room table saying he has left and changed his name. Then, he comes home eight hours later drunk and tells you that dead puppy story that you didn't want to hear the first time he said it.

Hah - I think he's learned his lesson on that. If not, well, he's going to lose all his tavern privileges for a month after my Inquisitor finds him (because after the whole Val Royeaux thing, it's inevitable that the Inquisitor will find him no matter where he is *snicker*).

Who would find him first Leliana or one of Celene's men?

Definitely! The thing is I have a very good friend who is a stay at home dad and my thoughts did drift to him when I thought of anyone similar I knew irl. My friend is tall and Beardy and a similar temperament to Blackwall, I've known him for a long time and he was a bit of an arrogant git in his younger days. Took the love of a talented woman to make him somewhat more humble!!Quick question. Does Blackwall strike anyone as the stay at home dad type? Since Celene owes the Inquisitor everything and would be dead in the water without Inquisition support (in my playthrough at least), either option actually works. I'd bet on Leliana's spy network finding him first, though.

Confession: my first playthrough, I was really not feeling Blackwall.
So are you... feeling him now?
I'm not in a place where I can watch a video at the moment, but i will point out when you run a community theater that does musicals, eventually everyone breaks into song at some point. Even if it's only in my head. Even when you want no musicals... there are more musicals.
*twitch*
I need a shirt for theater board meetings that says "I'd rather be killing dragons" or something.
Upshot: it's an outdoor theater, should set up the campground like a DA camp, lol. Party tents and all. Maybe i'll put some big red rocks nearby, call them lyrium, then wonder why we are camped next to them.
Seriously, what would Blackwall do? Not suggest setting up camp next to red lyrium.
(Long day, much silly, hah)

Well, whatever he does just make sure Rainier never tells his kids stories about what he did for a living.
Kid: "Hey dad, what did you do for a living?"
Rainier: "Well child, I was a soldier, but then I had to drop that when I slaughtered a family for gold. I then tried to join the Wardens, but had to stop doing that when my mentor was butchered by Darkspawn. So I pretended to be that man for a while and did good deeds. That's when I met your mother. I helped her *insert everything that happens in DAI here* and after that you were born. Well, goodnight." *kisses child on forehead before blowing out candle and closing the door*
Kid: O_O
Then again, that rule of not telling a story of what they did for a living applies for the majority of LIs in Bioware games.
I think the banter bug made a pretty significant blow to a lot of characters.
I myself never found Blackwall dull, but I've been taking him around with Sera, Cole, etc, and he's just...lawd, so much better.
Blackwall/Sera/Solas is awesome. Blackwall and Sera are like the immature children walking around behind, snickering and shooting spitballs at Solas' head when he's not looking. :S
Spoiler
Never liked that banter. Mainly because it felt like Rainier and Sera were bullying Solas.

True, but Celene is one of those people that wouldn't up hold the support of her supporter once she gets what she wants, with Celene everything is a game.

I don't think it comes across as bullying in any way - a bit of teasing amongst friends, sure. Until the Revelations quest, he and Solas get along pretty well if you haven't noticed. And while Solas verbally beats the crap out of him after the Revelations quest, they ultimately end up being friendly again.
Personally, I find that Blackwall's banter with Solas about Sera's question actually humanizes Solas. It shows that Solas is not always off in the Fade with his head in the clouds - he can be kind of a regular guy like everyone else and react in exasperation - even behaving just a like a twelve-year-old himself, vis-a-vis his calling Blackwall an ass toward the end of that conversation.

Well, based on the epilogue - it's pretty clear that she needs the Inquisition pretty badly (this is based on the Celene-Briala outcome at least - not sure how it plays out with the other outcomes for Wicked Eyes). I figure that every Orlesian noble plays the game, but given the events of DA:I, it's clearly probably not a good idea to go up against the Inquisitor (well, not my Inquisitor anyway).

Teasing among friends involves friends knowing when to stop. The subject does not make Solas comfortable, and yet Rainier keeps pressing him for an answer. That is not teasing, that is bullying. That's another reason I don't like that banter. It doesn't match the feeling the other banters give regarding their relationship.

Well, if the story of Fen'Harel betraying the others of the Elven Pantheon is true, and if that led to Elvenhan destroying itself and letting Tevinter claim it, then I think you would be thanking and honoring Solas. ![]()

We're simply going to have to agree to disagree. Solas himself points out that he knows that if it's a question from Sera, he just knows it's going to be kind of offensive. He acts as if he's somewhat resigned to hear it, and then he deals with the question.
Honestly, Solas is his own, grown man. He's about as old as Blackwall (or...even older, if you want to be technical about it, considering the ending). I'm really not sure why you're so insistent about this when he can clearly stand up for himself and is decidedly not being bullied by anyone. And, you know, if Solas were really bothered by it, he could crisp a person in five seconds.
I'll just point out what happens after the All New, Faded for Her quest when he gets really angry and you decide to let him mete out justice...
P.S. Not saying that bullying can't happen amongst people of the same age, but honestly, this does not strike me as one of those situations. I also seriously think of Solas as someone in a position of considerable power, knowing what we know about him.
