I also love his little groan and body movements if you choose that teasing option he's just like " this woman is impossible and I love it maker help me"

Best romance. I love it so much. <3

I may have lost track of how many times I played that scene. For science. And hotness. And unnnnffff.

I tried using the underworld perk way to get him out of jail, but no change to the dialogue, darn it. But hey, while I was there I couldn't resist another barn kiss. Because, you know.

In testing tonight I also replayed the love scene in the barn, and I have to say, even the way it pans to their shoes walking back towards the hale bale, with the sounds... *fans self* They didn't need any stripping, just watching their feet move got to me!

I didn't get these options, either. May try some experiments. Hrm. Now I am curious.

I guess you can take the girl out of software testing, but you can't take the software testing out of the girl. :: sigh ::

I always think of my first playthrough as my canon playthough; I should probably go do some more ideal playthroughs. In truth, I am weird about making mistakes the first time through a game, then after that I don't care so much and go meh, what's the worst that could happen? I also always have a fear i'll only get one playthrough!

Contemplating doing a run through all the games again, knowing what I know now...

Spoiler

But one of the best lessons of all I actually learned from Mass Effect. Never, ever, walk into a room you know is full of enemies while you are microwaving popcorn. You may forget to listen for the pops. You may catch the popcorn on fire. You may have to juggle your controller and a bag of burning popcorn and throw it out the back door. And your family might give you a lot of grief for making the house smell like burnt popcorn. Batarians, man. Batarians. Screwing up the microwave.

So, I haven't decided on another run through it all, or if I should get another DAI play in before that. :: cackle ::

I did go back and double check the dialogue, I definately didn't have the extra options. Drat. But, it's nice to have other people to help fill in this stuff. :D

I have a playthrough coming up that I intend to let Hawke be sacrificed (Alistair is the grey warden, and I can't leave him because I'm a huge softie), so maybe that will be the trigger. Hawke must die! (or at least, give the appearance of dying, as it's not *actually* seen)

That's exactly what I did. :(

@Keala: I always have good intentions when I go into DAO, but end up doing things nearly exactly the same as always. Plus, mods. Last time I spent more time playing with armor mods and dancing mods than I did the game. We all dressed up and went to the pub and had a dance off. Best day ever! :P And also -- I miss having my dog. Mine was named Raphael. I wish the inquisitor had a cat in their quarters at skyhold. Would give a reason to go up there and give it loves. That bed is so big and comfy, someone should be using it.

I've been having fun using the Dragon Age Keep. I'm making game states for different DAI runs that I never would actually play out. Like, leaving Loghain alive. So one game, I'll get to see Loghain be the grey warden! But, he'll probably be sacrificed at Adamant. Poor guy, can't catch a break in my games. I don't really dislike him either, it's just... Alistair. I still haven't been able to bring myself to make a game state that sides with the templars in either DAO or DA2, even though it's not real and it's just on paper, I can't do it. Siding with the templars this game is much easier (though I probably will only do it once, even still).

My canon playthrough is usually my first game, but perfected. Although sometimes I end up with two canon-ish states, because I fall in love with my characters and feel bad choosing one over the other. Yes, I know they are fictional characters, but feelings! Origins made it hard to choose, because each character could be so distinct, even when doing the same romance/plot lines. So for Origins I'd say I have more canon choices than a canon character.

So concludes my late night ramblings and Blackwall dectective work. Until tomorrow!

@veeia: Also how his eyebrows lift before he goes in for the first kiss. Why I find that hot, I have no idea...hmm, maybe it's because it looks like he's so damned into it and can't hold back anymore - lol.

Unf, the eyebrow lift. His facial animations are perfect in that scene. When he kisses her for the first time and then backs off, you can just see how he loses himself for a moment, but then makes an effort to collect himself.

Anyway, my order of things on my first playthrough was this:

- Recruited him, started Memories of the Grey

- exhausted all dialogue options + flirts, was nice

- got to Skyhold, flirt on the battlements

- second convo in Skyhold, talked about the chevalier

- got Explanations, exhausted all new dialogue options

- did some stuff, then did Explanations, kiss in the quarters

- found Alistair, did Adamant, sacrificed Hawke, didn't exile the Wardens, talked to him

- did Winter Palace, used all of his dialogue options there, flirted, danced, put Gaspard on the throne as Briala's puppet (don't think it matters, but still)

- got Revelations, did kissing stuff in the barn, did some minor side quest then went to Val Royeaux (sp)

- exhausted all his dialogue in the dungeon, used Underworld perk to break him out

- freed him, rekindled the romance

- used up all his new dialogue, never got the ones we're talking about

- pretty sure I completed Memories of the Grey quite some time later

I'll go to Adamant right after I get that damn Alistair/Morrigan convo to trigger (another annoying bug), will do Revelations right after, I'll see how it goes this time.

Wow, I didn't get these post-judgement options either. Seems to be a widespread bug. I wonder if not exhausting all the "Let's talk about you" questions prior to the revelations can help? Though I doubt it, since this and "I want the truth about you" aren't the same option, even phrasing is different. Has anyone reported this bug?

@veeia, thanks for recording the dialogue!

Good to know I'm not alone on that, then. :D It does seem a little easier on Mass Effect than Dragon Age for me, maybe because some of the jerk options are so fun (my husband shot Conrad Verner in the foot a couple of nights ago and I find it hilarious).

Another question; haven't had a chance to check the sound clips but: what voice did you use for your Inquisitor? (Or if hit by the custom Hawke voice bug, what voice did you have by the time the judgment came around?)

Thank you for posting that video veeia!  I most definitely did not get those options ever in any conversation with him.

I went back to my first pt saves and unfortunately did not have one before talking to him in Haven.  Then I got sleepy and went to bed.

I'm pretty sad about missing those questions  :(

Welcome to the 2 new peoples that posted: thievinghippo and ellagne!

Hopefully one of us can figure out what is going on so we can make sure we are all getting the full experience of Mr. Blackwall  ;)

It's grabbing at straws, but maybe we can find a workaround if we grab at the right straw? It could be a random error and there's no way to predict it, but maybe not.

We need one of those big detective chart boards for dramatic flair. Pin multiple spy pictures of Blackwall talking here and there. =p

Anyway, it seems that quest order has minimal impact then. I did notice your video was recorded on the console. Could it be a PC vs console thing? If someone on console still has that bug, then we can rule out the platform.

It's possible it's probably just a wonky script, like when Morrigan acted like she had a godbady with her male warden on non-ritual imports. I had a save right before she talked about her "love" and when they fixed it in the patch, she had absolutely the correct conversation. There was no need to replay or anything. I suspect this might be the case for Blackwall, just need to fix whatever the bug is and it'll show up just fine without needing to do a replay. (Like that's gonna stop us anyway. =p)

Also I went ahead and poked Sheryl on twitter, since I've gotten a ton of replies from people on tumblr about this as well, it's definitely widespread. Idk if she'll see it, but maybe she can come clarify for us if she does! :)

I will admit, I was going through blackwall's judgement again...and it hurt. I already have seen the mission due to a previous playthrough (and despite me going through quicker, I didn't see it coming) but I still had to give him some respect for trying to put things right in his own way.

A very low key individual with a surprisingly dry sense of humor ('two fingered salute and a box of dog feces, anyone?) and a man who did THAT....damn. Regardless of one's own opinion of him, his mission is -in my opinion- one of the most well written in inquisition, given some of the themes I noticed were explored in inquisition (greed and redemption, to name a few.)

Got another update from my friend who is romancing BW with a male elf because of the glitch and it's pretty amazing: http://suziedowninth...r-and-blackwall

I can't wait until they make out in chains.

edit: bcuz someone, i think in this thread, asked me awhile ago: no there's no audio at all, it doesn't switch to female quizzie's voice.

Hi everyone.

Perhaps you can help me with something. I'm wondering if Blackwall's romance is something for me after all. Because of this:

I've played two romances with my main Inquisitor and I'm planning a third run because the last run wasn't perfect. Josephine's lost me in the Val Royeaux scene, I really don't like that stuff. Cullen's is really nice, but I prefer something less normal. I've tried Solas with another Inquisitor and that worked well, but my main is a human and that won't change. Iron Bull.....not really into that SM stuff, no. And Sera....well, she's got some pretty nice scenes but she's really not the type for my sophisticated - she would probably say "too elfy" - human mage.

So....Blackwall or not? What I'm actually looking for is something I can imagine to be akin to Warden/Morrigan from DAO - where the future is more like that they're together, but quite often separate to do their own stuff. Assuming that there is a future, which is also what I want. Is it difficult to continue the romance after the revelations? I've also thought Blackwall's too principled for my mage but then he has his own skeletons in the closet so that may work as a balancing factor.

Any comments?

Let's put it this way: you can have a future with Blackwall if you believe in redemption, which is, of course, one of the fairly obvious themes running throughout the game. I guess the question is just how much you can forgive and whether or not you consider his remorse and his change to be genuine (most people here who are fans of the romance obviously feel that his character growth is legitimate).

If he seems "too principled," then I think it's because he's been overcompensating just a bit due to his own past. It's fairly obvious that he's at least somewhat afraid of becoming the person he used to be again, so I suppose he can go overboard a bit. He doesn't want to be the person that he used to be at all. If you do stick it out, well, he'll pretty much be by the Inquisitor's side forever (unless you want to give him to the Wardens, and then I guess it's a roll of the dice as to whether or not he ultimately survives any future Joining).

I'd say this is what you'll most likely get if you choose to send him to the Wardens in his personal quest. He does comment on how he will have to leave you soon to undergo the Joining, but your conversation suggests that you may still reunite later on if you're willing.

I think Atreiya said it really well, so I'll comment on your hope for "they're together, but quite often separate to do their own stuff." This is how I imagine the relationship between Blackwall and my mage Trevelyan to be, even if he isn't sent to the Wardens. What's the Rilke quote? "Love consists in this, that two solitudes protect and border and greet each other." Yeah- that is how imagine a post -Inquisition Blackwall relationship to be, at least with my current Inquisitor.

I don't know if this accurately addresses your concerns, but hopefully it will be helpful somehow.

Say, anyone managed to have Blackwall's armor have the same color scheme as that of the grey wardens? With blue mail and silver armor plates?
