Hahahah veeia, fake ass. :D

Ieldra - I think you noted something about not liking his voice in your blog thread (which is fantastic BTW!). I would suggest giving him a chance because he has some fantasic parts in the romance (in my opinion).

I viewed freeing him like this: we are saving the world, here. There's so few bright spots in it all, and if you don't have that, what are you fighting for anyway? If you're fighting for everyone, for the chance for all of those people to be alive, to live well... you have to sometimes feel it, too. You are fighting so that everyone can have a chance. Some people that come for judgment need that chance, too. And sometimes, you have to let yourself have something good, to help keep you going. To remind you why living can be an amazing thing, with all it's surprises and pain and joy and tiredness and everything in between.

Sometimes, loving someone reminds you that you fight for everyone to have the chance to have that, among other things.

That makes me a sap, I am sure.

I am okay with that. :D

You wiped them out on purpose?

No. But I wasn't torn up about it when it occurred.

Eh the war table missions I had got them wiped out because the Ventoari exploited their weakness to them.

I almost felt bad.

Almost.

Hmm, well the missions I did worked out okay on my second playthrough - I just saved them for the right moment and sent Leliana out first (I think) to scope out the situation. It all eventually led to some annoying Orlesian noble poking around where she shouldn't have and unleashing darkspawn - at which point the Wardens really came into play on the last mission. I kind of messed up on my first playthrough and got the Wardens wiped out because I used them at the wrong time (due to picking the wrong advisor(s)).

Haha, same Ryzaki. I was like "oops. Oh well. At least they were of some use."

Another factor in the Wardens decision is probably how your Quizzie feels about the Wardens. The Cadash I'm trying to trigger Revelations with rn has no love for Blackwall, but he also exiled the Wardens and agrees with Solas's perspective...so why would he send Blackwall to them? "Hey you need to stop being such a black and white thinker failure who runs from mistakes, let me send you to a bunch of black and white thinkers failures who run head first into mistakes." lol:

Oddly enough I got the good outcome my first playthrough. After that though I started screwing up XD

Yeah my Quizzy admires the wardens...but they deciding "DEMON ARMY!" was a good idea has her shaking her head. As far as she's concerned they're far better followers than leaders. Not too much critical thinking occurred there.

From what I read about the first blight...*shudders*.

I gotta play origins and origins awakening sometime. And as for the wardens I will say this...I wish I could have customize such spiffy-looking armor.

I think I've said this before, but say what you will about Erimond, he's got some stylish armor. I still am mad I can't loot it off of him.

Aw don't remind me of all the nice armor that you really should've been able to loot off people :( (Looking at you Servis).

Agreed on the armor - I envy some of the baddies for their sartorial splendor.

Finally triggered the woodworking scene with my male dwarf and I laughed so hard at "so you didn't kill an Antivan count with a wheel of cheese? Pity. I was hoping that rumor was true." I don't know if I never selected that option, or if it's not available on the romance path, but loved it.

(This is part of the Cadash specific exchange, btw)

It's available on the romance path. Heart icons have a way of distracting us. =p

It's so true. The heart option isn't even that in character for my Cadash, and yet. When I replay, I'm definitely taking that middle one, haha.

OK BLACKWALL DETECTIVE UPDATE

My Olim Cadash did NOT get the special dialogue with Blackwall. Here are his stats:

-romanced Dorian
-banished wardens and killed stroud
-adamant and then wicked hearts
-did not exhaust all Blackwall dialogue options before Skyhold
-did not trigger the "a chevalier once told me" cutscene until after hawke (actually not until right before end game which is the save I'm working with )
-still does not have max approval
-kept him with the inquisition
-selected all dialogue options in jail
-used leli's option (lmao) to get him out

...I forget if we were considering any other variables. I'll try to get the last grey warden shinies and see if max approval changes it...but right now, I'm wondering if it's something to do with when you trigger that cutscene (that can lead to explanations if you're romancing him)?

How do we know if we have max approval? I wonder...I mean, he rarely disapproved of anything I did, but I dunno. I seem to have not even finished Memories of the Grey yet (still need to get the artifacts from Emprise du Lion - heh).

Has anyone here posted the banter about The Iron Bull trying to get Cassandra to be less hard on Rainier after the reveal and the Inquisitor chimes in? If not hear it is. Sorry for any typos. I got it from the wiki:

Iron Bull: So, you have a letting Blackwall off the hook, Seeker.
Cassandra: He is a coward who abandoned his men. A man who wishes to atone but lies to do so.
Iron Bull: Al...right? So that's a no.

Inquisitor: I chose to take him back. End of story.
Cassandra: I cannot help but feel as I do.
Iron Bull: Sure you could. You won't, but you could.

Inquisitor: (Sigh.) She won't change her mind, Bull.
Cassandra: Not due to pestering, that's certain.

Inquisitor: Blackwall isn't even here to defend himself.
Iron Bull: Not that he would.
Cassandra: He cannot. Let us leave it at that.

You stop gaining approval, essentially. I was gaining and losing approval with Blackwall during the follow up questions, so I could tell I wasn't there yet.

You're welcome.

After listening and reading all the banter and dialogue about it, I have to say that the companion that best encompasses my feelings on the matter is Cassandra. The advisers are harder to tell since other than their initial reactions we don't really know how they feel.

Atreiya to add more, I didn't even get half the Memories of the Grey with Hella, but had him at max approval easily. I think after mid game, the only time I saw any approval/disapproval from Blackwall was when I triggered the interactive banter with him and Varric, and I told them to stop talking about jousting, and then I immediately killed Darkspawn with him (I was on the storm coast when it happened) and I got a slightly approves which made it back up, and then no more messages after that. So if you can kill Darkspawn with him, or make decisions you know he approves of, without seeing the message, you're at max approval.

Does Leli ever really say anything about it? I know Josie seems like she just doesn't want to think about it, and Cullen gives that speech of "well he's disgusting but also kind of brave idk how to feel??", but I don't remember her doing anything besides her hilarious "aha! Two birds, one stone" war table mission to bust him out.

I agree. I wish she would have played coy instead of shake her head no because that would have been awesome to claim credit for. LOL. =p

Oh, and I shared your video in a group I post in. None of the Blackwall romancers had seen that. They are most displeased. (What is the term for Blackwall romancers? I know there's Cullenites, for one.)

Oh, thanks for sharing that! I have the hardest time getting dialogue with Cassandra and Iron Bull in particular because my Inquisitor is a warrior and then Blackwall is a warrior and three warriors is already pushing it when I need a rogue for lockpicking and mages for the energize stuff. I cannot tell you how many times I've done the three-warrior party only to have to turn all the way back because a cave needed a mage to remove the barrier. =p

Edit: I love Cassandra. It hurt my heart to hear her be so angry with Blackwall. I understood though. I fistpumped when Rainer stopped taking Vivienne's crap though.

I did get the special banter after revelations, where he talks about family and life before becoming Blackwall. So I'm really wondering whether its the fact I pestered him senseless in Haven. But then I pretty much pestered everyone in Haven prior to moving to Skyhold (I was level 13 by that time) on my first playthrough. Im playing this current pt differently (got to Skyhold at level 9) and I'm certainly noticing some disapproval points for not bothering to speak to certain companions (Viv especially).

Atreiya, we just need someone to go through the hard slog through the wiki to figure out the max and min disapproval you can get for each mission. I may be inclined to try, but it's time dependent.

@veeia: Ah, makes sense - darkspawn do seem to, heh, respawn in Valammar. If those count, i suppose I could try that next time (will have to rememer to try).

@hanako: Interesting to read.

Yeah, having a bunch of warriors together...Cass/Bull/Blackwall...well, I mean. I guess I could attempt to stick all of them together when I have time to kill and absolutely nothing to do - just not when I'm in the Hissing Wastes like I am right now, heh. I need to finish stuff here, and I just don't think it's a good idea when I'm on Nightmare.

Honestly, given that most of the people I have heard from are people who romanced Blackwall, and thus were more inclined to talk to him and exhaust all his dialogues, I imagine it's not tied to that. But I do have a character who triggered his cutscene before Hawke and def didn't ask him all the background questions before Skyhold, so I'll try her next because I just need to do Adamant with her before I can try Revelations.

I have too many characters which is a problem but good for situations like this.
