Does Leli ever really say anything about it? I know Josie seems like she just doesn't want to think about it, and Cullen gives that speech of "well he's disgusting but also kind of brave idk how to feel??", but I don't remember her doing anything besides her hilarious "aha! Two birds, one stone" war table mission to bust him out.

Leliana doesn't seen to care much about it, but then again it is suspected she knew ever since we recruited Rainier but doesn't bring it up. Plus I don't think Leliana is one who would judge someone taking up a new mantle to repent for their past.

Oh, thanks for sharing that! I have the hardest time getting dialogue with Cassandra and Iron Bull in particular because my Inquisitor is a warrior and then Blackwall is a warrior and three warriors is already pushing it when I need a rogue for lockpicking and mages for the energize stuff. I cannot tell you how many times I've done the three-warrior party only to have to turn all the way back because a cave needed a mage to remove the barrier. =p

Edit: I love Cassandra. It hurt my heart to hear her be so angry with Blackwall. I understood though. I fistpumped when Rainer stopped taking Vivienne's crap though.

You're welcome.

I think Cassandra's Dispel ability affects those barriers, but can't be certain. But yeah, she for sure can't energize things.

My favorite line from Cassandra about it is this:

"A man who truly aspired to be righteous would not lie. He would earn respect, not steal the respect due another."

Honestly, given that most of the people I have heard from are people who romanced Blackwall, and thus were more inclined to talk to him and exhaust all his dialogues, I imagine it's not tied to that. But I do have a character who triggered his cutscene before Hawke and def didn't ask him all the background questions before Skyhold, so I'll try her next because I just need to do Adamant with her before I can try Revelations.
I have too many characters which is a problem but good for situations like this.

Yeah I suspect the same.

I'm curious as to how it all plays out this time unromanced and given that I am also considering exiling the wardens (and have yet to decide whether to let him go at that point) I'll have to wait and see how it plays out. Gah I'm so shocking a role player at times.

I was looking through my screenshots to see if Leliana ever said anything and she didn't. So I thought well, maybe I rushed too fast to the war table to really ask anyone what they thought. Still nope. Nothing. So I went to the war table and I had so many blinking icons on the Orlais side while I was trying to find "Thom Rainier's Fate." I was stunned to see that there was an underworld alternative to releasing him without getting the Inquisition involved. His reaction is "so you're a criminal now like me" is so much better than "what of the reputation that you've built up?" This is a happy accident (and has no impact on the follow-up bugged dialogue -- still not getting it that way =p). I miss so much on my first game, I swear.

Haha, Gilsa, I was the total opposite. Took the underworld option, didn't notice the other one, and was so confused later when I came to this thread and saw people discussing which option they had chosen, so I finally reloaded and discovered the other mission!

I remember you laughing about that because the irony of saying that to a Cadash, but I couldn't get the criminal dialogue to trigger for me after trying all three advisors. I figured you were paraphrasing. Now I finally understand what you meant.

So I totally wasn't going back to earlier saves with my non Blackwall romancing characters to check something for testing and then ending up doing a quick romance just to see what the barn kiss looks like with Qunari and elf, nope...anyway, so now that we've gotten what I totally wasn't doing out of the way...

...:do you get approval every time you kiss Blackwall? O.o. I don't remember getting that with Hella, but like I said, she maxed him out almost immediately, but I was having my Adaar do it over and over (FOR SCIENCE) and I got four slightly approves...maybe I had forgotten that, lmao, or maybe she was already maxed out, but it made me laugh...like how Zevran gave approval in DA:O  (And I enjoyed hearing the comments he makes)

I don't think I got approval every time I kissed Blackwall...hmm, well I tested it with an early save.

1. I got what appeared to be two separate slight approvals when he makes his first comment about his beard not bothering you as much as he feared (lol).

2. Kept going and got another two slight approvals when he makes his second comment: "If you keep on like this, I might get used to it."

It doesn't seem to give approval at any other times (I mean, I kissed him one more time after the second bunch of slight approvals and got no approval after that).

EDIT: May do further testing - might require some chapstick, though. *cough cough*

The qunari barn kiss is the only footage I've been unable to find. I wanted to know if they shrunk the qunari model so he could put his arm up. It's funny, I've been accustomed to weird cutscenes for dwarves since the DAO days, but ever since I've seen the qunari get shrunken down in other scenes, I start to get irritated on their behalf. That's no way to treat an Amazon! You gotta make the men work for it, not the opposite.

Picture. Just because I can, and there isn't enough pictures. From the very end of the game, woot.

Spoiler

Wow, I missed the "alternative approach" mission in my playthrough as well. Next time! :D

The beard line always cracks me up as a dwarf. Seriously, DWARF. Beards are a plus.

Regarding the dialogue bug, who did people support at Halamshiral? (throwing out things) I left Celene as Empress and told Gaspard and Briala to play nice. Also, how affected by the banter bug were people who did get the dialogue options?

I had the banter bug something terrible but still managed to get that scene. Dorians quest line which was also bug was fine for me on both unromanced and romanced playthrough.

Gilsa, Ive got lots of screenies of my qunari and Blackwall. I'll post later (currently away from home) some of them to illustrate things, some animations were okay some were, ugh.

Banter bug like wooooah and got it. I supported Celene.

Gilsa, Adaar is taller than Blackwall in the barn kiss. It's cute, but there's something about it that feels a bit off to me, can't figure out what it is. It may just me be being used to the Cadash one. I suppose I'll have to compare and contrary tomorrow. For science.

@Ieldra -- Blackwall is accustomed to spending time alone so whatever path you choose, it should be perfectly fine imagining the Morrigan/warden scenario where they each have their own travels. Grey Warden angle is obvious, the redemption/cleaning-up-messes/make-amends angle also works for the other one. He went around training people to be better soldiers, to stand up to bandits. And I would not overthink trying to avoid the appearance of a free pass. Sometimes we experience dialogue we hadn't heard before or we hear something in the moment and get a different perspective on how to play things out. I unintentionally got spoiled on Revelations before I was at that point in the game so I knew what the scenario was, but not what was said. I worried that I was going to have to give him to the Grey Wardens to be "fair," but based on my conversations, it became obvious to me that Blackwall needed to join the Grey Wardens of his own accord. I couldn't decide his redemption for him. Pulling him out of that jail WAS giving him the free pass. I overrode the sovereignty of another nation to get this to play out my way. I don't think it ultimately matters what you decide to do with him. The fallout has already happened by that point.

That's not my problem. I have no problem using my influence that way, but I dislike the appearance that I do it for personal reasons. Which would, to make it worse, be partly true. My human mage Inquisitor really wants to be a good ruler and this will cause her a serious headache. I hope I'll be able to justify it as "after defeating Corypheus, some personal reward is not out of the question".

@veeia;
Yeah. For science.

I'd say most of the companions at some point make personal requests of you, I guess in the case of a romanced companion its hard to make it not personal from your side.

I just completed Dorian's personal (romance only) quest for his family's amulet - he really hates that you do this, but it's really the only way you can get it back is using the inquisitors influence and as far as I'm aware - trigger further content.

I thought I'd whip up a quick form so we could see if there are any correlations between those who got the dialogue and those who didn't. I did this really fast, so let me know if you see mistakes, wording that should be clarified or changed, or any questions that should be added to the list!

The pie chart it gives won't be super helpful, but it does let you view all the answers in a spreadsheet form, which will give us some good data!

@veeia: I stole your picture for the example, I hope you don't mind!

The barn kiss (spoilered for size - no idea why so big.) they've zoomed in so as to make it not so noticeable

And this travesty of animation (pre patch so her hair is all sorts of crap)

I'm on my fourth play through.

1st PT - Romanced Bull...loved how he grew and developed.

2nd PT - Romanced Dorian...loved his smart comments

3rd PT - Romanced Cullen...a bit on the sweet side for me, but still satisfying.

4th PT - Romanced Blackwall.

Ok, so I have to admit, I love, love, love Blackwall's repeating kiss scene. You can almost feel the love between the two characters. Dorian's is a very close second, that sweet smile afterwards, SIGH.

So who's repeating kiss did you like the most?

Well Blackwall is number one in the repeat Kiss department for a number of reasons. 1. You can see and feel the love between the two, and with a qunari I just find it adorable. 2 HE DOESN'T LEAVE YOU ON THE BATTLEMENTS (or round parts what ever you want to call them), or behind the tavern. 3. Sometimes he will say some thing after the kiss, cant remember what (if someone can find it, please post)

Cullen is second, he is very sweet!

Well, I have to vote for Blackwall, but I haven't actually kissed any other LI...which is at least partially due to the barn kiss. I just give up on romancing anyone else in DA:I at this point - lol.

Man. I went to youtube to look up repeatable kisses and 30 minutes later, I realize that I got lost watching recommended videos and still haven't found all the kisses, heh.

1. Blackwall, for his intensity and confidence

2. Sera, for her gusto and confidence

3. Dorian, those hands on the hips while kissing, woo

4. Cullen, confidence and fantastic grin -- only lower on the list because he ends the kiss and leaves the viewer wanting more =p

5. Iron Bull, hilarious butt slap -- this guy has no filter whatsoever

Ooh, that's hard!! All of team vulgar (Blackwall, Dorian, Sera) has such a good repeating kiss.

Solas's is the worst because he doesn't have one. and then Cullen's I like slightly less because he pulls away with that cocky grin and I'm like wait no, Quizzie is supposed to be the one doing that to you!!!

I think I'll give it to BW, because I love that he has those two comments after you do it a few times, but Dorian and Sera are right up there.

Haven't romanced Josie or IB yet, and my Cassmance is very early stage so I forget.

So here's a question: how can you tell if you're at max approval? I got approval on most everything, but by the time his quest happened I did still get approval for freeing him, so I assume that before that I wasn't at max? I'm not sure at what point I stopped getting approval, although I do recall at the Well of Sorrows that nothing came up for him so I assume that would be at max by then. Is that correct?

Well if you choose Leli's option or the underworld perks option, no one connects it to the Inquisition! With Leli's, people think he's dead, and with the underworld one, your connections break him out for you, so you don't get your hands dirty.

Correct! Blackwall should approve if you let Morrigan drink (unless iirc, you're not romancing him, then he's opposite?) and I believe if you skip the rituals too. So if you don't see those, you're at max approval.

Edit: this is the best guide for approval I've seen yet. Not sure if it's always right and it varies on how much it has for any given companion, but it's more detailed than anything else I've seen. http://dragonage3.wi...ckwall Approval
