Wait, isn't shortbread what Americans call "cookie"? That makes decision to create a qunquisitor even more appealing...

 

It is a type of cookie (though us in British-colonised territories would crinkle our noses at that, insisting it being called 'biscuits') of Scottish origin. It features three crucial ingredients; sugar, butter, and flour. Usually served as pie-like segments or fingers, it's quite sturdy (making it ideal for packed lunches or picnics) but it has a crumbly, melt-in-your-mouth texture due to the high fat content from the butter. It's absolutely delightful as a teatime snack.

I think he is "surprize meat balls".

 

I think surprise meatballs is Dorian Pavus, as his description in the leaked survey says that he is unlike the stereotypical Tevinter Magister (ie. power-hungry, corrupted, muahaha evil) and will surprise people with that fact.

I like him a lot, but part of me is wondering if they're going to present him more as a father figure, like Anderson in Mass Effect. I mean, I think he's older than most of the companions we've seen and he's got a sweet sounding personality that could easily become parental in the right context. I'm rooting for an older love interest, too, but I see the gray in his magnificent beard and wonder.

I don't think he's that older. He's likely in his forties. Varric is forty and IB seems to be in his forties. Cassandra is at least 34, and Cullen and Leliana would be around that age. Solas, Vivienne and 'Dorian' are in my opinion in their early thirties. Don't know about Scribbles.The only companions that seems really you are Sera and Cole.

I'm not sure if he'll be sweet or not, and yeah I'm thinking he'll have some wisdom to impart to the Inquisitor but

 

he's so hot I can't help but think that he'll be a somewhat wiser older fella (at least older than the average Bioware LI) AND a love interest

 

 

Of course I'll just appreciate it when we see him in the game.

Actually Cassandra being 34 in Inquisition (9.40) makes her 15-16 during her movie (9.22), and I think it's a bit of a stretch, considering she was under training for several years at least. Of course it's anime where she kills dragons with a penknife, but still... Besides, people often don't look their age.

besides... I needed salt for a recipe and i didn't have any and then i remembered...Tears, of course! (no wonder the writers were hogging it all)

 

 

Anyway...

If the warden was food...He actually feels like a good ol' pot-roast to me.  mouth watering just by looking at it... a longing feeling just by smelling it's aroma... a rich and deep flavour brought on by various spices and gravy...a comfortable homely feeling after eating it...i could go on but here's a pic

Hehe, looks like Lady Cadash is ready for some action.   I missed dwarven ladies in DA 2, but being smart girls, they probably knew Kirkwall is a bad place. And now they return in new Frostbite engine, oh my.

Anyhow, do we know anything about the writer? I have this theory that relies completely on rumours, and which I have to get off my chest right now. So we heard that DG is going to write two characters. I also think someone said he has confirmed he's going to write a character he has been eager to write for long time now. Well. The fact that Alistair was, at first, supposed to be a grizzled veteran Warden got me thinking....

Being a Warden and all the Wardeness in DA:I, potentially, I do admit that my first thought was Gaider as writer.  As I always associate Warden lore, Alistair, Warden history and such with Gaider, for one reason or another.  But a few seconds after thinking it, I handwaved that notion away.  The writers in the Pit work pretty closely together, and see each other's work, and sometimes characters are written by multiple writers, so it could be anyone's game.  I wouldn't be surprised if he writes Solas, though, given how he's written an (bi) elf dude every main game so far.

I remember grizzled Alistair idea. But, aside from Cassandra (who definitely is Gaider's character) I would guess he also wrote Cole. Maybe he was eager to write a demon/spirit.

Somebody detected Sheryl Chee's interest to Feathers. She wrote Wynne, Leliana, Oghren and Isabela, who happened to be my favourites, so I kind of hope Warden is mostly her creation as well.

Looking at the gallows concept art on him I think he would be a serious and stoic character who only lets his hair down after a few pints of beer. But I think he would also have a wicked sense of humour and have many stories to tell. So maybe he will get along with varric? I dont know anything about sera yet so who knows.

Varric, definitely? The dwarf would be mostly friends with everyone I think (heck the only one in DA2 he didn't like was Sebastian). Sera also, if the concept art holds true in the final game. Mebbe Leliana as well, since she is friendly and there's the added interest that she fought alongside wardens years ago. We'd have a better idea if we knew what his background and interests are, to see what he has in common with the other companions.

I know someone dug through the HTML files of the Class section and found them, and seeing how each companion represents a class spec (most probably), eg. Knight Enchanter/Vivienne - Necromancer/Dorian - Fade SummonerExpertWhatevs/Solas, one of the warrior specialization that is our Warden's might give a little insight into his expertise and background.

Warrior Specializations are Champion, Templar, and Reaver....if he taught any of them, I'd bet on Guardian.
