Re: the repeatable kiss...my solution was to do the brave + Giselle flirt, call that canon, and then reload with the option where it doesn't mess it up...you got it to work without doing that? Nice! I have no idea if it messes up past that, since I reloaded.

Oh and re: KISA. Daveliam put forth a pretty convincing argument IMO that Blackwall does fit the trope, even though I hadn't really considered him anything but maybe a slight nod to the head to that trope, then veering off in a different direction. Essentially, I think his point was that regardless of how dark Blackwall's story was in the past, the KISA doesn't always have clean hands, it's about how they act (and they don't always act perfectly) and how they view the world.

@ali: Well, as far as I'm concerned, who cares if other people say he's old? Pfft - they'll hit their 40s one day in the future, and then we'll see how old they feel when that day comes. *snicker* He's hot to us, and that's all that really matters. Besides, these days I prefer someone close to my age, so Blackwall.

Yes I have! It's a bit of tier 2 masterwork leather that enables you to enter stealth mode when you're not attacking during combat.

Yeah, I tried to argue with someone calling him grampa on Tumblr, but after seeing his/her reaction ("he still old fight me lmao") I decided not to waste my time. I'm 21 and I have no problem with his age. Since when is forties considered "old" anyway?! Gotta go tell my 41 year old mom (who looks 10x better than me tbh) that she's actually elderly. I do it on a daily basis tbh but that's not the point

 

To be fair though, I think he's supposed to look older than he actually is considering his bullsh*t life, lol. He looks years younger with trimmed beard however.

I don't have any DA shirts, but my ME stuff starts all kinds of conversations. My 37th was on N7 Day, I wore my N7 shirt and went to a geek tavern (I LOVE having a geek tavern for the record). Teehee. I am tempted to buy my stepson the game just to have another person to randomly harass about it.

 

I too was bugged by the judgment thing, I headcannon it all because in my mind they'd take a little bit of time to work it out. I do want to write a story about how I see it going but I am too distractable lately. Booo.

 

So I think it's quite reasonable to be a little put off on that.

 

It's great to read all the different takes on how people see him and his actions; it's not surprising that there's a lot of polarized reactions to him since there's just so many interpretations. 

 

I almost started my next playthrough, but i'm torn on running all three games through or another through DAI. I was going to make a female mage for Cullen but I worry a female mage will end up right back where my Cadash did. Best I can figure is to make her look like someone I couldn't see with Blackwall, hah. Or it's a male Quizy for me. For now, i'm just running around, breaking things and listening to the banter.

Is someone picking on Blackwall for his age???    Came to the conversation late.  Must say that I too am an older fan and don't plan to give up the fandome any time soon. Or any of the other things I like.

 

I came across the Dorian bug when my cute little elf mage tried to woo him - his quest just wouldn't trigger, so I went the route of Iron Bull.  It's distressing that I got the bug when the first time I played through my Blackwall romance, I got Dorian's personal quest without even trying.  Very annoying. :|

I remember when the companions were all first announced, and people were freaking out like THEY'RE SO OLD HOW DARE A COLLECTION OF EXPERIENCED WARRIORS INTELLECTUALS AND LEADERS BE MOSTLY IN THEIR 30S AND 40S THAT JUST MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE OF...REASONS??? or whatever. 

 

The more mature companions in DA:I is one of my favorite aspects of it, tbh.

I would count myself lucky not to have had all these personal quest breaking bugs. I really hope there's another patch soon because missing content is very disappointing once you hear what you've missed.

I believe I read somewhere that another patch is expected to drop in the next few weeks...more bug fixes and whatnot. Hopefully at least the Dorian quest fix will be in it, I was so disappointed it didn't make the 2nd patch. Also, it'd be nice if MP was playable at all. (I actually even think it's fun when it works! But dang, it needs an exterminator)

I didn't think I would get it because when my Blackwall romance was happening and Dorian was my Quizzie's bestie, it just happened without me even realizing it, so of course now I can't remember exactly what I did to trigger his personal quest.  Grrrr!

 

Yeah, I think it makes more sense for the characters to be older AND thus avoid the fantasy trope of innocent young boy beating all the evil in the world because he's plucky.  Or whatever lol.  Done and done and done.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. One night I tried to play 5 matches and I only successfully completed 1 because I got 4 completely different errors, all of which are apparently fairly common. I mean, you can sometimes sign on and it's 100% fine, but other times its a horror show. Also the characters have banter which seems really cool in theory but they just repeat the same lines over and over 5eva and if you have more than one of the same character in your party it's even worse. Apparently the first DLC for it broke it even more? I didnt' even install it after I heard that, lmao. 

 

It's really too bad, because it is actually really fun and I like the MP characters a lot, they're written well and have personality, but it's just. so buggy. 

 

edit to add to be fair, i just tried to play MP and had two successful matches, so like i said, it's not ALWAYS horrible, just has its moments.

I've had better luck with MP, just the occasional key bug. Pretty fun except for the banter repeating all the time like veeia said - heh.

Still haven't gotten around to trying out DAMP yet, I'm still pretty burnt out from my ME3 MP years, I pumped crazy high hrs into that game.
