Is it the What Did you Do with Blackwall thread in Scuttlebutt? I just saw it and went "...nah, prob not worth my time"
But I imagine it could be a myriad of other ones, lol. There are so many threads I actively avoid, haha.

@bugsie: Well, I figure the people that find him boring are the ones who are actually boring, rather than Blackwall himself being boring. That, or to be more charitable, maybe they have bugs and/or a lack of banter. ![]()

I thought I'd take a look and it's just tearing him a new one again. Can't go 5 feet without it in that one.
Of all the things he gets accused of, just waiting for 'dude didn't validate his parking ticket' one to come up. I can agree given a certain type of inquisitor some of the complaints about him are valid, (I never really got the hypocrite thing with him because my inquisitors never did anything that would paint him in that light, I pretty much agreed with him for the most part but I see how others get it) but boring? Yeah I don't really get that.
There's really only one character I find a little dull, but it's not Blackwall.

I keep seeing 'Blackwall is boring' posts. I'm beginning to wonder if I played the same game as these people. I hate boring.
I should just stay out of *that* thread.
I'm still reeling with embarrassment that I found him fairly boring during my first PT, but I do blame the banter bug for that. It needs to be fixed, stat. Like "real" fixed, not these Rube Goldberg-ian workarounds. :/

Nahh dont be embarrassed that one is understandable. if I took the banter bug into account I'd say both Iron Bull and Viv are boring as hell. And well, I know that not to be the case. Finally getting some decent convos from bull that I never got before (his dialogue with Cass on boob armour!!) but Vivienne's banter is still eluding me. The other night I took her out, not one banter in 3hrs??? I get it Viv, you don't see eye to eye with Varriel, but come on!!I'm still reeling with embarrassment that I found him fairly boring during my first PT, but I do blame the banter bug for that. It needs to be fixed, stat. Like "real" fixed, not these Rube Goldberg-ian workarounds. :/

(Finally got the game and happily playing, yay!)
Actually, I understand how people can think of Blacwall as boring. First, the banter bug. Second, there's much content about the character that's revealed only through banters with specific party members, so if you pick a wrong party you simply don't get it. And you can miss his dialogues after Revelations because of another bug (didn't get them, at least now I know why and it won't happen again).
He isn't boring to me (I'd rather say that - his past aside - he's just so blissfully normal, which is sort of a rarity in cRPGs), and I love all the cutscenes to bits, but... There's just this feeling that so much is missing in his romance - it seems like Cullen, Cass and Solas got much more content - and it feels like there should be so much more, especially after Revelations. I understand some things need to be simplified in a game, but this feels like an over-simplification. (Maybe because of the way the cutscenes are done. It didn't bother me if something was left suggested or unsaid in e.g. BG2 or KOTOR, because there was no contrast DAI has.)
And, as much as I love how much emotion there is in cutscenes, the no-cutscene dialogue often lack it. Inquisitor's voice acting in the prison scene was just pure WTF to me - moments before she was all emotional, and then suddenly she's totally indifferent.
Speaking of voice acting - Alastair Parker did a brilliant job on voicing Blackwall.
Enjoying the game so far, despite it's many flaws - fortunately, it also has many good things in it. (But still hating the CC XD)
Now back to writing another Blackwall fanfic... ![]()

I actually felt like Blackwall was well represented in the overall game plot. His romance had a bunch of content and he had a lot of ties to the Warden plot. I did drag him everywhere though, so he did seem like an integral part.

I agree on Cass and Cullen, but Solas? Poor guy got about, what, three romantic cutscenes, less than anyone else, and even beyond the romance he doesn't have much. This lack of proper dialogue was actually the only thing that scared me away from romancing him. There's just this feeling that so much is missing in his romance - it seems like Cullen, Cass and Solas got much more content
...Oh god for a second I thought you meant Solas got more romance content than Blackwall and I was like "either you got some serious Blackwall bugs or you managed to trigger some Solas scenes no one else saw and need to upload them immediately."
Wait. If not that, then what did Bazylia mean?

I meant overall content (it's still my very first playthrough). Or main-plot-connected content.
I drag Blackwall everywhere, too, so he gets some scenes, like in Adamant, but it still feels a bit unbalanced. Whenever I go to talk to Cullen or Casandra or Leliana or Solas, half of that is cutscenes. Then I go talk to Blackwall and it's just the kiss scene (not that I don't like it
).

Cass's is probably the best in terms of main plot relevance and romance content.

So getting that mod when I get home. And flycam for good measure. Dorian looks wrong without the stache though. So very wrong. The unmasked Gaspard however ![]()

Which VA do you have in mind? I have Alix and I think she was great there.

Maybe you just go to talk to him more often than you do to Cullen and the others?
I can't really judge though, because most of the time Leliana simply doesn't load in Skyhold for me, and when she finally appeared near the end of the game it was like whoaaa! I got her quest and rushed through all of her conversations at once simply because I was afraid to miss anything. And with Cullen, I haven't done a full pro-mage playtrough and don't have any idea how big his Samson quest it. Without it, I'd say he has as much cutscenes as Blackwall.
As for Cassandra, yes, she just didn't want to shut up and gave me a cutscene after a cutscene. In the end I was almost angry at her, 'cause I wanted to ask a question about her brother, but each time I clicked on her, I got yet another cutscene!

It's not true at all. Look, he's always ready to party!

(I'm sorry, I'm in a silly mood)
Not going anywhere near that thread, haha. From what I've seen in my short time on the BSN, so many threads are just full of hatred and arguing, it's nice to have this little refuge full of awesome people.

Alix. She was great in the cutscene, but the following dialogue, when she asks him about his past, just felt somehow... maybe not quite flat emotionally, but not fitting - a moment before the Quizzy was heartbroken and sounded like it, and then she's just demanding answers.
Maybe you just go to talk to him more often than you do to Cullen and the others?
I usually run around Skyhold to talk to everyone. Stay a bit longer with Blackwall, though ![]()
About Blackwall being boring - well, everyday life could be called boring when it's peaceful. And I'd rather have it that way ![]()

Vis-a-vis disappearing advisors/people, Cullen seems totally MIA right now, and I'm supposed to hand in those smugglers' letters to him...I've tried everything (including quick travel, etc.) and looked for him everywhere in Skyhole. Oh well - I'll live without completing it, I suppose.

Posté 17 janvier 2015 - 11:45
Atreyia, maybe try going to do some stuff in a different area and then come back to Skyhold? Not just quick travel, just a bit of running around/ killing things/ closing Fade rifts. It worked for me when Leliana disappeared.

Wow, maybe he really can't handle the job while he's going through withdrawal.

Don't think he's boring. Really like his dirty laugh, some of his banters are really funny.
Knew something was odd with him quite early. You don't fool a Grey Warden veteran. Or something like that. Nearly romanced him in my first walkthrough, until the first romance scene. Not putting that burden on my shoulders.
With my... ehm... third playthrough or something, I did it again. That time, going all the way. Felt quite comfortable with it, until the judgement scene. That kissing scene felt so weird to me. I was like 'can we please discuss this somewhere else? It's enough that I release you, I don't want to swear my undying - or whatever - love in front of everybody. Especially not in front of a lurking Vivienne!'
But before and after I really liked it. And I must admit I had my hopes up, to get that beautiful little griffon-horse. The actual reason for his craftsmanship then made me 'aaaaw... so sweet. I feel quite guilty for wanting to claim it.'
Now I guess their off getting a dog from somewhere.

Fiddlesticks, out of Likes again - bleurgh. Anyway, I popped into that thread again - I really need to stop doing that, as I ended up doing another short essay when I intended to go read the newspaper.
@Ashes: lol - I had not thought about that, but I'll take a sexy owl with a beard.
@Bay: Oh yeah, I tried that - I've been out to Emprise du Lion and done several quests, popping back and forth between Emprise du Lion and Skyhold...still no Cullen - can't figure out what's up with that, but whatever. It's okay since I vaguely recall it working on my first playthrough. I can live Cullen being MIA - I'll just pretend he headed off to the Arbor Wilds before everyone else did - lol.

You sure he's not off having his Lyrium breakdown?

Pictures 'Bad Lieutenant' filler episode where Cullen bangs prostitutes and snorts lyrium while everyone in Skyhold is looking for him.
