Veeia, sorry if I've upset you! I've just spoilered it in case it catches anyone else off guard.
 

I took that as one of Cole's meta references by referring to Darth Vader from Star Wars. The armor that doesn't fit refers to the suit that is grafted onto and into him and the old name burning lit by the faces of children he couldn't save refers to him recognizing himself as Anakin again after realizing his children whom he was told died with Padme when he did everything he did in order to save her turn out to be alive.

You could be right. I just saw someone attribute the quote to Cole talking about Blackwall and assumed that was the case. I think it can still fit (depending on how you view him as a character).

So I haven’t actually gotten this dialogue from Cole yet, but I saw somebody on Tumblr quote it a while ago (forgive me, I can’t recall who it was and I forgot to Like the post) and it really stuck with me.

I got that line once. My favorite is still something about "the black wall he uses to shield himself when the day is rainier", though. I had to pause when I heard that one from Cole. When he told Blackwall later on that he had always known the truth about him, but didn't want to tell anyone, it made me laugh. Sure, Cole, you so much didn't tell!

And Cole's other comment took me by surprise lol (may be slight paraphrasing) - "He feels naked without the armour, but now he knows you want him naked." Hmmm, so many ways to interpret that

Ah, yes. Somehow I heard this comment right after the battlements dialogue, and I suddenly felt like Cole had been spying on us entire time.

I agree it can still fit. Both are redemption stories so will have some parallels. I just see it as fitting Anakin Skywalker more due to the phrasing and certain words.

Re: modding, I'm good with texture modding but haven't had to work with meshes so it's not like I can crack open Photoshop, whip out the Wacom, and bam. veeia - if you made any progress, let me know what you found out! It's definately an adventure. The tools are getting better and better.

You can't edit meshes in game with the mod tools yet, so all the work (not being done by the developers of the tools)is texture work! You can edit Blackwall's face texture (in the blackwallsharedbundle in the second partyappearances_sp sb if you're using the old version DA:Tools to extract via bundle explorer) and then find his hair texture (it's not unique, not sure exactly which one it is off the top of my head) and edit those! I'm bad at the actual texture altering but have the mod tools down.

ps I wanted to say that y'all should poke me with your username if you followed me on tumblr (or If you have one and don't mind me following you, i def don't demand mutual follow status hehe) I already follow so many people and I've had a recent influx of DA followers that I'm sure are all quality but I get so overwhelmed by my dash I haven't been even looking at new people.

you Blackwall fans are great tho, all insta follows if I know it's y'all, tbh.

(The interface just doesn't work with my brain for some reason, too ADHD to parse it all so I just post and look at my first page of dash and dip into tags and then run back here, where things are less confusing and everyone is awesome. )

I'm credulous-alloy. Think I'm already following a few of you but I'm still trying to get used to Tumblr so don't expect great things from my page, lol...it's mainly Blackwall reblogs, nice-looking recipes and men I find hot (both real and fictional)

I don't know what's gonna happen to my tumblr acct once I'm seriously studying again, but for now I'm just enjoying seeing other folks art, screens and game related thoughts.

Wooho! Gonna add you guys but I got distracted by this beard stuff. So Keala, I just grabbed a "hair" brush and threw some grey on his facial texture (still having problems finding all his hair textures, grrr, why are these files so hard to navigate???) and loaded it up in 3DSMax to show you what I was going to start with re: the greys mod. All you'd have to do is do this...properly...and then find his hair textures and add some there too, I think. As for earrings, I saw people drawing them directly on the face textures, no meshes made (so I mean it's a bit flat but wev who cares...well some people, but not me. ) 

 

 

(uh before anyone is horrified, since I can't find his beard textures I hid those meshes. firmly 100% camp beard here. also i couldnt be arsed to find his eyes. lmao. sorry. this is a mess. MY POINT IS. not hard to add in greys you just have to find the right textures. )

Oh, I avoided it like the plague for the longest time (its reputation precedes it, and not in a good way...) but eventually caved in after seeing all the amazing Blackwall stuff coming from there, ha.

 

Random note: my dad was around while I was playing DA:I earlier and I happened to be doing the rounds at Skyhold, talking to all the companions. My dad, half-watching, kept interjecting with comments, some of which made me eye-roll ("Where did your character's sword go? How can he survive a jump from the battlements?") but then he started giving his opinions on the characters. He found Sera hilarious, loved Cass and Varric (I'd just got the "smutty literature" scene which is legit one of my favourite moments of all time), and took an irrational dislike to Josephine (apparently she's using me somehow? IDK).

 

But here's the kicker. After I spoke to Solas, he said "I don't trust him. Watch your back with that one" which made me lol quietly to myself. And when I spoke to Blackwall? "You can trust him, though. I can tell he isn't hiding anything."

 

I kind of hope he's around for this playthrough's Revelations quest just so I can see his reaction, lol.

I am sickedy sick sick and I wasn't in the mood to play today (that, and getting out of bed seems to recquire a tremendous effort), so I hadn't had a chance to get my hands on that mod. The screens just keep teasing me. I can't decide whether I like the beard or no-beard more. 

 

I've noticed that when I asked Blackwall what are his thoughts on the Inquisition, he said different things on my 2 playthroughs. On first pt, he said something like "This Inquisition is everyone's best friend", on the second one it was "If the Inquisition mobilized all of its forces, the world would shake beneath it" or something. I'm guessing it depends on which advisor you use the most. I definitely let Cullen handle most of my affairs on my second run, and I think I've used Josephine more on the first pt.

Just shows how wrong first impressions of people can be, and yet also be really accurate.

There's something off about Blackwall's beardless face that I can't put my finger on. I'm wondering if his jaw/chin was reduced to avoid any beard clipping issues.
