Oh god I love Cole and he's a precious baby but the degree of legit infantalizing some people have with him is...disturbing.

Actually now I remember we had this discussion about Team Vulgar before and I was horrified that I got it confused and decided they were both team Vulgar wow my phone just autocorrected vulgar to to bulgur now I kind of want to call sera/Dorian/BW team Bulgur.

I don't really see Cole as some infant in need of constant mother hen-ing but I'd be lying if I said I didn't see my Solas-mancing quizzy/Solas/Varric/Cole party as the 'mum/dad/cool uncle/kid' party of ultimate sappiness.

Yeah I mean it's only creepy to me when it's like at the level of one of those people who calls their cat their fur baby 100% unironically and takes them to cat yoga and pets them while their cat bites them and coo and go "ha ha! Aren't they salty right now...we didn't make it to the cat food truck today so he's quite upset" and the cat looks at you like "please save me from this hellscape I don't like cat yoga I just want to lay in a sunbeam."

I'm sort of guessing that people don't like having Cole around because of what's in the book? (I've not read the book so don't know)

I am however currently reading 'the Calling' and wow, getting a fresh look at Loghain been interesting to add that extra layer to such a character (makes me want to at least have him alive on one playthrough, yah for the keep!)

I LOVE the calling. Stolen Throne is even better for Loghain, but the calling has such delightful Duncan moments. Also I love the Architect, and the Calling makes Awakenings way more interesting IMO.

Loghain is so great though. My canon state has him alive (even to the end of DA:I). Never letting that dude die if I get the choice to save him.

I feel like Cole is like my canon Inquisitor's little brother. Her much taller little brother who has stabbed a bunch of people and can read minds.

 

Since she had also stabbed a bunch of people, she felt that it was her job to help guide him, but not in a parental way. (It may have occasionally involved wrapping him in a blanket and giving him hot chocolate, though.)

I had only played Origins on Xbox years ago after I played ME2 and was kinda uninspired, partly going from a Bioware game with voiced protag to one without felt weird. I liked DA2, despite the failings and love my Hawkes. Beginning of last year I got Origins, with DLC and Awakening in a cheap deal on steam, and wow, wish I had started the game on PC to start with. Took it to another level, really enjoyed both Origins this time around and Awakening. Sort of what got me keen to run another elf dude in Inquisition. I have the Stolen Throne too will get around to that one next.

You're an tougher player then I am. In the end Loghain died in the fade for me. Ugh, another Virmire situation, but unlike Virmire, I cared about who lived and who died here. If you leave Hawke, the scene with Varric just kills me. "Were is Hawke? *no one says anything* Were is Hawke?" I just couldn't let it happen.

Oooooohhhhh I whooped that dragon last night and got that same armor. It looked way more badass than what I had on him so I switched it out. Sadly, that man's someone else gets his old armor, which is starting to become awkward as I get bored and name armors. Some poor sap has to wear armor I dubbed "Scale The Wall". Viv is stuck in "Tevinter's Redemption" because of hand me downs. Shhh maybe she won't notice it was Dorian's. 

@lillian: Maybe I ought to upload those screenshots I took earlier at some point (got it off a dragon in Emprise du Lion). I thought it went rather well with the shield I equipped him with yesterday. Now if you want to see some totally ridiculous outfits for the lulz, veeia has a lot of amazing screenshots of Blackwall in things like plaideweave armor (which is sublimely silly - especially that one pic with Blackwall and Solas both wearing plaideweave outfits).

 

I am going to make Cassandra armor and name it Smutmonger. That will be helpful I am sure. 

 

I think my phone is messing with me. I swear, I open the page, write a reply, then after I post I see there's 2 more pages of replies than there was before. Argh you silly phone.

 

Also, my fur babies reject yoga and anything else that requires moving around unless it involves a laser pointer. Although in reality, I usually have much worse things I call them, especially if they bite me. I am such a mean kitty mama. Here is a relevant video:

Yeah, considering what Cole did in the book (which seems to be referenced in the game), I think some people might be put off by that. Haven't gotten around to it, but I was aware of it. Kind of thought I'd be creeped out by Cole at first, but he turned out to be really nice and is one of my faves. Do consider him a little bro to be mentored, especially after making him more human.

Big time lurker here. I usually avoid posting because i have opinions that are in the minority and people on BSN are ready to set you on fire for having a different opinion , but this thread seems to be one of the more civil ones, also i really like Blackwall's character . I initially wanted to post a screenshot of BW and IQ wearing matching warden armors but I don't know how to add it , so I'm just gonna rant a bit.

At first BW kinda annoyed me mostly because his Knight in shining armor (most of the time I was going "are you sure you are a grey warden?"-boy, did that became hilarious in hindsight) made him seem a bit 2-dimensional, and I also I kinda get frustrated when LIs say they are not worthy or they say they will end up hurting the player-character, so I didn't romance him in my first PT, but after his personal quest I really started to like him. And when I get to listen to some of his banter with characters like sera or cole, it really fleshed him out, how beneath all that grumpiness, there really is a sense of humor . So now here I am fangirling a character that by all rights i should hate . And as far as the romance goes I think it's really mature, although some scenes are a bit cringe-worthy *cough*post-judgement kiss*cough*, but some of the smaller moments really stuck with me like when he calls the IQ "my lady" and when he talks about the house and the dog .

OK, I'm done rambling since most of what I said has been already said better , now I'll just show myself out .

@cathy: Heya - yep, his personality certainly comes out more through his banter with other companions. Definitely recommend putting Iron Bull in the group with him if you ever want hear his reaction to Bull talking about bendy bananas - lol.

I'ts okay veeia, I prefer Dorian in Iron Bulls spot too.  Him, Sera and Blackwall are my team most the time in my latest play through.  I had that convo last night where Sera is talking about Cory putting his magic in everyones face.  And Dorian is like I don't think I can finish this conversation and Blackwall is just laughing.  So great!

Also about the when did Blackwall fall for my Inquisitor.  I like to think it was when we went to find "his badge" and I told him he didn't have to do all this alone.  Yep.

Oh, I always wanted to go to hawaii, Its freezing over here (we are in the middle of the winter ). I also have a sore throat and keep coughing, I share your pane. And according to this , they never patch things up. I also like how at some points he treats Cole like a little kid ( the banter about the beard and about being a real boy). For me IB, BW, and cole are my A-team, since i play mage

@cathy: Yeah - the beard dialogue wth Cole is cute (always loved that one)! And I'm a mage, but my normal party setup is to have a warrior (Blackwall - ALWAYS), a rogue, and a second mage. I will admit that I basically made all other mages my Barrier slaves in the past, but now that I'm KE on my Nightmare playthrough, I actually invested in Barrier on my own character. That being said, I still have Barrier on the other mages for backup - lol.
