I love that Blackwall is such a crappy liar. He knew that with his lack of talent for deception, the only way he could finesse things was to grow a bunch of facial hair and move to the f__ing sticks.

Lmfao so true.

I bet he doesn't even know Blackwall's first name and never even thought of that and if you asked him he'd panic, stutter, turn it on you with something like WOW I NEVER ASKED YOU YOUR FIRST NAME BECAUSE I RESPECT YOU, then run off making some excuse like "gotta...do something...with the war nug"...leaving an utterly bewildered Quizzie while Blackwall is all like "nailed it, no one knows my secret"

Stupid, sexy Blackwall, my favorite barn dwelling disaster. I am cackling so hard over here!

Nota bene: I don't think Beardy is actually stupid- I think he is notably lacking in cunning. And that is A-OK!

Sorry Dazzle :P although to be fair, aren't you always drinking coffee? And I am definitely always lovingly mocking Blackwall, so such a situation was unavoidable probably.

Oh, and re that convo about the Blight. My favorite is the part where he adds "quietly killed a few Darkspawn myself." like I TOTALLY HELPED I DID WARDEN THINGS JUST NOT BIG FLASHY ONES lmfao you disaster.

Lol, pretty much. I suppose I'll forgive you this time. Next time warn me to put down my coffee!

Lol, yes. He's such a disaster. It's like "There were totally darkspawn in the woods, with no soldiers around, I swear. Yes I was all on my own, stop looking at me like that!"

I loved his explanation on how to kill an archdemon: "Stab it until it dies." I mean, I know that's essentially what we did in DA:O, but seriously Blackwall? Just gonna quote Sera here: "You're smart, but you're kind of stupid."

Oh god I also love the convo where you ask him how to kill an Archdemon and he's like "well you stab it a lot" and if you choose "I guess you'd know!!??" you get approval but if you're like "...really?" he gets all huffy and disapproves. Silly Blackwall. I had no intention of romancing him at first, I just kept talking to him because I wanted to ask him about Wardens and laugh at his answers and somewhere along the line I was like OH NO FEELINGS and the rest is history. It's actually kind of sad how bad his lies are and how desperately he wants to believe in this thing he knows nothing about. But I mean, it's also hilarious

The whole thing about his lies is that they lack finesse.

Being as common as muck will do that, damn dirty free marchers.

I was trying to decide between him, Sera, and IB for my first romance. SO CLOSE to deciding to go with Sera -- she was super charming in Haven, that Sera was never song, Lukas K is one of my favorite writers, etc -- the odds were totally stacked in her favor. But then I did that quest for Blackwall and he talked about how much he admired her. That pushed one of my favorite buttons, being noticed for actions/things I do. So I went with it. And then I asked him what he would do if the world was against me, knowing full well that was about to happen with the mere fact she was a dwarf, never mind the dwarven herald business which was akin to blasphemy. He made it sound like it was two of them against the world then! WELL THEN YOU ARE ODDLY CHARMING. LET'S DO THIS.

No regrets. Turned out to be a fantastic game.

Maybe he was under the impression that the reason they needed Darkspawn blood was just to pour it on their swords, and when Alistair/Stroud/Loghain explained the taint/calling more in Crestwood he was like "...well, sh*t."

Hehe, Gilsa. I was down to Sera and Blackwall. Honestly I just went with him because I accidentally triggered his romance on the battlements and Sera got mad at me for hitting in her when I was in deep with Blackwall and I was WOW HOW DARE IM NOT...ok...well..legit,..but I was not expecting this!! Fine I'll go dump him, oh god he's carving wood oh god he's taking me on an Anders style creepy date oh god he's in my room, begging me to stay away HITS CONFIRM ROMANCE OPTION AS FAST AS POSSIBLE

Sera's romance is great but I'm glad I didn't do it first because I was playing a super pro Dalish character and awkward. I made an Adaar specifically for her and its lovely.

Yeah he would be unlikely to know what the significance of what the dark spawn blood meant (unless Blackwall told him and I doubt it considering what we saw of the joining in Origins). He knew it meant some sort of sacrifice but the depth of that nobody but the wardens really know/understand.

Geez that grey warden armour is sexy.

I would like to think my saltiness over the my first playthrough helped your decision in regards to who you romanced with Sera. Yep I'm taking credit for this. :P

Haha, it definitely did, lmao. I mean I know some people enjoyed that drama?? But I was reading your stuff and others and I was like "that doesn't seem like fun Blackwall drama that just seems like uncomfortable and angry making drama...I'm going to avoid this, Andrastrian Adaar it is!!"

I have to admit, I fell for all his crappy lies haha smh. They did make me go "wait, what" for a moment, but I kept making excuses for him in my head because I desperately wanted to romance Duncan a veteran Warden. When he was talking about simply stabbing the Archdemon dead, I was like "well, he just doesn't want to reveal the Wardens' secret, obviously". When he said he was in Ferelden during the 5th blight, I thought "Well, he, uh... I'm sure it will make sense later!!!" Boy, was I right  :D I always thought he wasn't exactly who he said he was (couldn't stay away from spoilers), but I didn't expect that.

@veeia -- Heh, she said the same thing to me about being in a relationship with IB. I just wanted to see what she'd say. I did discover that Vivienne's rejection changes based on your approval level with her. Like for example, if you ask her in Haven, she'll be like "not a snowball's chance in hell." But once her approval is up (think snowy wyvern heart completed), she'll be like, "Aren't you precious? It wouldn't work out, my dear." With this in mind, I marched over to Cullen and his response was as boring as ever (too busy).

@scuttlebutt -- I started to wonder if he was that crazy fisherman in all the letters, that he wanted to join them, but they wouldn't let him or something. It was getting fishy. (pun intended.)

But Sera practically jumps at Adaar, where is challenge in that? Too easy! :D

I take it they made a short stop before Val Chevin to get the darkspawn blood and the joining itself should have been in the city with other Wardens and recruits.

I'm cackling at all this affectionate ragging on him and his lies. Makes up for reading some of the posts about him elsewhere.

I also find it hilarious to think about what happens if you exile him with the rest of the Wardens. I mean, I don't think I'll ever be able to take that option, because I'm too much of a ninny, but what does he do? I can imagine him sidling up to a group of Wardens and being all "So, this Warden stuff, huh? My memory's terrible since that darkspawn knocked me on the head. Can one of you give me some reminders?"

There's no challenge but the reason I like it is because everyone else is so mean to or condescending to Adaar at first (even Josie is scared of you!) or makes some comment (like Blackwall isn't mean at all but he still has that "thought you'd be human" bit and after 5 hours of constantly being called a brute and an ox man my Adaar was like "OH MY GOD HUMANS.") you can't even talk to Iron Bull without arguing about being a savage! I mean geez.

So it's sweet, because Sera is so enthusiastic about you, haha. And I played as a Mage, so there was some conflict, it just wasn't "intensely personal identity issues" or "unresolvable religious differences"

With regards to Blackwall's lying, he is absolutely, unequivocally horrible at lying about all things Warden-related - lol. *pats poor Blackwall* Otherwise, he's clearly a reasonably intelligent guy - I mean, you can't possibly become an officer in the Orlesian army and hit the rank of captain if you're a blithering idiot (at least, I would hope not).

Haha, yes! I can't remember if we talked about this here or if it was in another thread but my headcanon there is that Blackwall is all like

HEY GUYS so I'm Blackwall, that guy you may have heard of or even know?? But I have amnesia. And uh, blood magic happened to my face. Also I am feeling really inspired and would like to rededicate myself to the order...could I like, go through the joining again (because I'm totally already tainted OBV)...for symbolism....
