He's extremely resourceful, clearly good at living off the land, very good at woodworking, has a sharp soldiers mind, and is very perceptive of the people around him. He's the kind of guy you'd underestimate and then he beats you at every board game and you're like WHAT and he's like *cocky grin*, suck it.
...unless you're Solas, of course.

Hmm, can anyone quote the notes about bandits found when recruiting him? Because I don't remember finding them.

@ash: ceol typed up the whole thing a while back, but if you go back to where you first meet Blackwall near the lake, the note should be lying on the ground somewhere near the buildings.

"Can we go through the Joining again (for symbolism)"
OK now I'm cackling again.
I badly want someone to write a fanfic about him going round and being SO COMPLETELY UTTERLY TERRIBLE AT LYING in random situations.

I'd argue he lacks a bit in emotional intelligence and perception, but yes street/practical smarts definitely.Blackwall is very intelligent IMO. Not book smart, but there are all kinds of intelligence.

I'm imaging it's called "The Cost of Blackwall's Lies" and every vignette ends with Quizzie grumpily tallying up ridiculous expenses like
"200 Gold: had to replace sword after it turns out, pouring Darkspawn blood on it does not in fact make it kill archdemons and only makes it rust and smell bad"

@Cred- I'd pay top dollhair for that fanfic!
Another thing that makes me curious is when Cole mentions that Blackwall "knows a lot about girls." Does the bulk of this knowledge date back to Thom Rainier days, or did our sexy beardy off-the-gridder occasionally shamble into Redcliff for some fun? I'd love to know.

I find the fact thet he's such a terrible liar to be absolutely endearing though ![]()
@scuttlebutt -- I started to wonder if he was that crazy fisherman in all the letters, that he wanted to join them, but they wouldn't let him or something. It was getting fishy. (pun intended.)
That's what I was thinking too! The thought of it being true was terrifying.

I have to admit, I fell for all his crappy lies haha smh. They did make me go "wait, what" for a moment, but I kept making excuses for him in my head because I desperately wanted to romance
Duncana veteran Warden. When he was talking about simply stabbing the Archdemon dead, I was like "well, he just doesn't want to reveal the Wardens' secret, obviously". When he said he was in Ferelden during the 5th blight, I thought "Well, he, uh... I'm sure it will make sense later!!!" Boy, was I rightI always thought he wasn't exactly who he said he was (couldn't stay away from spoilers), but I didn't expect that.
I bet that's not even a real beard either.
I dunno I never romanced him, never got personal with it so I'll just have to trust you lot on this. ![]()

Sandal, that's lovely! There's a subtlety to it when it's slowed down that I like a lot.

Yeah, he's not totally devoid of it, i'd put him on par with some of the men in my life regarding that aspect of his personality! You know, being occasionally clueless emotionally can be quite endearing (if not frustrating at times!)when the bug of MY LIES!!! isn't crawling up his butt, he's not so bad at people. Like how he earned the loyalty of his men, for example. Or how he is always in tune with what the soldiers and feeling and is sensitive to their needs. His post reveal banters and convos are less "how people??" too.

Not a real beard??? Crim you've gone too far. That's the one lie I can't accept.
Well I suppose the Inquisition needs it's broody beards, Cass is one in places, or so Sera believes.

So I found a slowed down extended version of the romance theme. Makes it sound sadder and more melancholy which I think fits well with Blackwall's romance.

Nice find! I adore the original theme but this version is lovely too (and yes, it does seem v. appropriate for Blackwall's romance)

Not Blackwall related, but for people who only visit this thread: heads up for Patch 3
No better lighting for character making. ![]()
Edited because I meant maybe we'll get a mirror for dlc since there is no fix for the lighting in CC. Next time I'll not post when in a rush ![]()

Dorian: "I know bad men, and you're not one."
Blackwall: *stunned silence*
Blackwall: "......I'm not sure how to respond."
Dorian: "Of course not. Let's not go crazy with defying expectations."
Oh gawd, those two. ![]()

@sandal - Dorian & Blackwall are my favorites of favorites. I love the arc of their banter, from the beginning of the game to the end. ![]()
Also. I think I have a problem. I'm supposed to be working, so I'm not letting myself play, and have been trying to stay off the internet. But instead, what do I do? Flip through my screenshots of Dorian & Finn (my warrior), and Blackwall & Kiara (my rogue) a million and one times. It's a good thing no one else is here, otherwise I'd be making them look with me. BUT LOOOK! He's so perfect! Now look at this picture. And this one. And look how they're looking at one another here. And this one, you can see a smile. Wait, you can't go yet! Now look at these!
I may also have a slight crush on my own inquisitor, who is with Dorian. They just look so cute together, I have to awwwww. My IQ felt so protective during that first quest.
Last night I made some Grey Warden armor for Blackwall
Just after doing so, Dorian & Blackwall kind of sort of made nice. Was cute.

At the end of the banter convo:
Dorian: Maybe you're not a complete moron.
Blackwall: We were having a moment, and now you've ruined it.

No, I totally agree! I think he looks a lot like Richard Armitage in BBC's Robin Hood.
Sadly, never saw that show (heard the ending was a little sad.)
Also, dat plaidweave armor of shame...and I thought some of jokes at alistair's expense rendered him the universe's plaything...incredibly tragic as it could be at times.) But I digress-evening, everyone!

Is that halla leather and ring velvet on Dorian? I love that combo, it feels so classy for some reason. My smooth talking puppetmaster dwarf wore it all the time.

@veeia: It is halla & ring velvet! You're so good
I love it on him. I find with Blackwall, I'll be more centered on Blackwall in scenes (as if I'm my quizzie, because i'm crazy & can't keep from staring at him), but with Dorian & Finn, it feels more like I'm watching a movie with them as leads, so I'm fawning over both.
re: Blackwall & intelligence
I agree pretty much with what people have said.
I think of him as someone who is actually highly intelligent, but never had a lot of higher education. To me, he is someone that would have a lot of real world hands on problem solving skills, covering a wide scope of areas. For instance, I could see him deciding he wanted to build a boat. Not only would he figure out how to do it, he'd make the best damn boat around with beautiful custom wood work in the captain's quarters. It wouldn't be some little rowboat, either, it would be a 25' foot boat, ready to take out at the Storm Coast.

Hello, everyone! I'm about to tackle Adamant and I had a quick question. Probably stupid, not sure if this is the right place, but I can't seem to find an answer on the wiki so I'm hoping you lovely people can help me out:
Many thanks in advance! ![]()

Sabreeni your Blackwall quizzy is named Kiara?? Ha mine is Ciara!!
I love my current quizzy - he is such a bloody cutie I want to smooch him.
And here he is dressed in plaid (from the inspired by Veeia clothing range)
EDIT @ Johnny - as far as I am aware - yes I think you can get him to leave at that point from dialogue I've seen.
