Honestly one of the nicest things about the Blackwall fandom is there is actually a legit diversity of races people are playing it with across the board and no one craps on any of the races.
True. I saw quite a few cullenites screaming 'Get you grabby elfy hands of Cullen! Trevelyans only!' or even 'Mage Trevelyans only, Cullen should be blocked for other classes, because no drama!'. I could never understand that, and I'm glad that it's not like that with Blackwall.
*sob* i'm on the Coulistair trope :-( I will sit right over there -------->
Well, you're not running around shouting 'Cousland only, no dwarves, no elves!', are you? Cousland and Alistair is ok, heck, anyone and Alistair is ok, as long as those who prefer it don't try to convince others this is the only way to play Alistair romance ever. It's all about personal preferences.
Not really romance-related, but a few years ago I had an unpleasant debate with a girl who believed Cousland to be the only true and canon choice for DAO. Like, every other origin was there for diversity, they are fun and all, but REALLY the game was all about Cousland PC, all other origins don't matter. What the hell?

Yup, GreenClover, that's exactly the kind of stuff I'm talking about. Like, Idk why people are so obsessed with stating whats the "right canon for everyone" in a game where you can literally make your own canon! ![]()

Having said that. I want a barn wedding with the beard. Preferably without Master Dennet drooling in the background!

I rather like multiracial couples in my games, but I rather ship my characters and LIs based on their backstories.
This sums it up for me as well. I pretty much ship Blackwall/any, because I think he's an interesting, less conventional character who is attractive to people who play interesting, less conventional characters, no matter what race is chosen. So maybe that's just me patting myself and this whole thread of awesome folks on the back I guess but whatever I just woke up. ![]()

It's especially strange to me since I don't even have only one canon. I have so many of them that when it came to exporting saves into DAI, I couldn't remember which Hawke I used with which HoF! I had only two Hawkes, but my Aeducan, Tabris, Mahariel, a bunch of Suranas all got mixed up x_x

My canon is Brosca/Alistair, but I also played Mahariel/Alistair and loved it as well. My Cousland was a dude and he romanced Morrigan, hehe.

I guess if there is a wedding DLC, Quizzy would have to wed Blackwall in semi-secret, because if it was a large, public wedding then everyone would know including the Inquisition's enemies, which would then make Blackwall a target - to hurt the Inquisitor ![]()

I wouldn't' say it's canon, it's just the default world state. Kind of a fussy distinction, but important to me, because it's not like....idk, KOTOR, where Revan is canonically male and shows up as a dude in all his appearances.

My canon was Mahariel/Alistair, but I ended up importing in this playthrough Amell/Warden!Alistair for the extra connections to Hawke and Cullen (because I originally created this worldstate for the Cullen romance XD).

If you invite Master Dennet there's no such thing as semi secret. I swear that man is the paparazzi of dragon age!

To Cousland/Alistair shippers,

No, I'm totally kidding, it's just one of my favourite gifs and I never miss a chance to post it. And yeah, I watch Doctor Who too! At least I did on Russel T. Davies' reign ![]()
I have a Queen Cousland playthrough, but I think I'm only going to use it for my fail!quisitor playthrough, if I ever have strength and time to play it. I have my problems with making Alistair king, but they're purely subjective and I'm not going to tell those who do it that their canon is any less valid than mine.
Well, I had Alistair put a ring on it
That's the main reason why I even bothered to roll a Queen Cousland
But I like to imagine that my Tabris/Mahariel/Amell and Alistair still had a quiet (or not so) wedding some time after Awakening.

Master Dennet is the man. If not for him, we wouldn't have had that amazing I-know-what-you-did banter with Sera

There is no canon, really. I believe the devs stated that even post-game comic events and choices are not canon (like, if Alistair is a king in Silent Grove, it doesn't mean king Alistair is the canon), let alone the player character.
I wouldn't' say it's canon, it's just the default world state. Kind of a fussy distinction, but important to me, because it's not like....idk, KOTOR, where Revan is canonically male and shows up as a dude in all his appearances.
Yes, there is a difference. But canonical crazy dude Revan still doesn't bother me at all when I make a female Revan to play KotOR. It's just some parallel universe, ok?
TOR Revan can be a lightsided dude all he likes, this particular Revan will be a girl this time.

Heh, I have seen that. It's much funnier to me without the narration, which gives me so much second hand embarrassment. And I would be totally down for a DA otome game!

Have you guys played the board game Marrying Mr. Darcy? I keep wishing there was a Dragon Age version, hehe. I may try to make a crappy one before a bunch of my dragon age friends come visit for a con later this year. It can be called Marrying Mr. Rutherford or something, lol.

It's so much, fun, lmao. You play as one on of the ladies and the bulk of the game is going through the "courtship" phase, where you're trying to accumulate character points (like Wit or Beauty or Reputation...each suitor has different requirements for proposal) and destroy your rivals!!! And then at the end there's a proposal phase where you try to get the best husband.
I play it with my husband all the time, lmao. Last night he drew the card where you elope with Wickham and SCANDAL!!! but then built up his reputation enough to break it off and get a new suitor and then I spent like all my movies using my Cunning cards to destroy his wit so he couldn't marry Darcy and then I ended up havnig to marry Wickham, lmao.
