Oh yes Harrison Ford! I'm pretty sure he was my first crush.
I also created a Lavellan last night! I am not sure who she will romance yet - my very first character was a Lavellan who had the first two romance scenes with Solas. However I accidentally let her clan died and still felt guilty about not saving anyone at Haven so I restarted with my Trevelyan who I planned to romance Cullen with. Well, that didn't happen.
Also, kind of appropriate given the discussion on writing, I saw this today: http://well.blogs.ny...to-happiness/. After writing for myself for the first time in years I can attest to how great it feels. I used to write stories as a kid all the time, so I'm really grateful I stumbled upon this group.

Speaking strictly from my "canon" world state, I would say that I'd pick Blackwall over Alistair for maturity reasons. Alistair has fantastic wit and can make me laugh all day, but he walked out at Landsmeet for his own reasons (understandable, no issues with the why of it). In that world, he went on to be a drunk and I don't know what happened after Teagan took him home. I keep hoping he'd turn it around. Blackwall hit rock bottom and made an effort to claw his way out. He is not a drama queen and prefers bluntness. I feel like any squabbles, disagreements, fights, whatever with Blackwall would be resolved with a frank discussion and that he'd love the Inquisitor no less. Alistair was more prone to being argumentative. Two different games, two different approaches, and Alistair is plot blocked so his character development can't really go any further, totally get that. I still miss Alistair -- he's the man that got away! 
If Alistair never left, oooh boy, couldn't ask me to pick either, probably!
@rosa: Oooh, an Aragorn gif - what an excellent suggestion. I'd give your post a Like, but I Just ran out of them earlier (which is entirely Harrison Ford's fault).

No mention of drunk Alistair in DAI. I thought maybe I missed it, but veeia confirmed it to me since she had the same world state as well.
I actually played Mass Effect before Dragon Age so Kaidan was my first pixel crush, but I fell hard for Alistair. Oh my. And I lucked out at the end I guess because he didn't walk out on me. Probably because I wanted Loghain dead as much as he did. I was an elf mage so I didn't get to be his bride, but we got rid of Anora and I stayed as his mistress. That was my first, bumble play through. I knew nothing and was completely unspoiled so I guess I did okay getting that ending
Blackwall is a much more mature romance. But man, he can do the silly, raunchy jokes. And I love him for it.
So a friend tells me I have to deny Blackwall before I can progress the Solas romance. I think I may just dump this play through. I can't dump Blackwall........

I've done one manquisitor. He romanced Cass. Totally worth it.

I wanted to hear more of what Riordian had to say about Loghain's usefulness and I was a dummy and thought if we conscripted Loghain, we'd also gain the army he had at Ostagaar along with the three treaties. I didn't realize I was merely trading one man for another. I kept thinking Alistair would come back, but by the time I realized it was a done deal, I had no saves to go back to. I had been overwriting the same save file as I progressed. I also turned down Morrigan's ritual for dwarven reasons and she left me. Man, I was pouting at the end of that game, let me tell you. I was mad enough to give the game back to my husband and tell him I was done with it. (A week later, I decided to try again. =p)
But that is how I picked up Mass Effect. There was a thread comparing Alistair with Kaidan and someone said that Kaidan would stay to the end. That was all I need to hear! =p

The day is young, friend, and I may still do it if that thread reaches peak armchair ethicist wankery. But then again, I am about to head into Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts, which kind of exhausts me.

Anyway, Gaider is deleting his tumblr blog on Friday so if there's anything of his you wanted to save, best grab it before then.

I did not know that! About other races marrying Alistair or about Mr. Gaiders tumblr. But I don't visit often so I probably missed it. That's sad He had some pretty interesting stuff to say about making games and writing and such.

Edit: @Sabreenei: I use Shadowplay too and then I use microsoft movie maker to save them in HD and it makes them take up MUCH less room and I delete the Shadowplay video. So they still look nice. I have some videos up and you can see they quality is still good

Oh goodness me too, and the anxiety is compounded because I know a pivotal Blackwall moment is coming up. So then I get to choose: a literal roll in the hay (pushy-kissy Blackwall is my weakness) or "let's spend time with friends." I'm leaning toward the latter, because that seems more in character for their particular dynamic. Either way, Lorna's about to go through hell, and I'm so sad for her, in a delicious drama kind of way.

If it was older Alistair (like King Alistair here, I haven't seen him as Warden yet) ,vs older Blackwall... eiiii, I don't know. So hard to say! Alistair has a slight edge, because I fell for his character first and he has so many cutscenes that made me fall for him. But then, Blackwall... unnnf. Hard to say.
If it were old or young Alistair vs the young Blackwall, it would be Alistair.
I lucked out in my first DAO playthrough, since i started as a Cousland. I've never had Alistair as a drunk, though I did play through it once just to see the scene. Never again or for real, it hurt my heart too much. (<--- is a pushover for videogame characters feelings) I'd started a fic about it, that never went anywhere. I'm so awful at finishing fics, I'm a bad, bad person. Plus, it was pre-DA2. I liked DA2, but it ruined all my stories!
While in the Alistair thread people kept talking about Mass Effect & Kaidan, and I was like, another game similar to DAO?? With fighting, plot & love interests?? I'm in! And of course, fell for Kaidan.
Aragorn. I have a thing for the men of Middle Earth, but especially Aragorn. I love that gif. And It should be used!! Yesssss. I also love the one of him opening the doors and sweeping in majestically, with the caption, "I'm here for your women." or something like that. I can't find it at the moment. Someday I'll organize my gifs.
Edit: @Kaidan: Thank you! I was thinking of trying out the microsoft movie maker. I want to edit some together. I'd been using vdub to make my fraps videos smaller, but only for upload purposes. I never got rid of the original. With the quality the same, I'll definitely have to do that!!

I LOVE Warden Alistair. The choice between him and Hawke was a no brainer for me. This is what brought up the choice question from my youngest daughter the other day. If it had been Blackwall or Alistair. I couldn't have made that choice. I was have unistalled the game and pretended it didn't exist!
I like the movie maker. I'm still learning it, but it comes in handy. I used it with fraps too. Which I'm sad I paid for and didn't bother to reinstall on this computer because it always cut down the performance of my games and Shadowplay is so much better!
P.S My canon is my Cousland pt that marries Alistair, btw.
