All this talk about Zaeed and Canderous has led to one great epiphany for me (yeah, I was interested in Canderous...): I totally have a thing for mercenaries and/or Mandalorians with deep voices! And technically, Blackwall did refer to himself as a mercenary in one bit of banter, so I guess the streak continues (only I actually got romance him).

Omg, I wanted to romance Zaeed so bad...

 

Anyway, I stayed single in ME1 (flirted with Kaiden a couple of times, but left in Virmire every time) and then Thane swept me off my feet     I never really liked Garrus tbh. Don't hurt me pls.

 

I really liked Jacob as my bro, but I could never romance him because the flirt options with him made me want to strangle my Shepard.

Canderous and FemRevan were totally in love. My god, have you heard his scenes where he talks about her in KOTOR2? (not sure if it's restored content mod or not). Totally in love. Nothing will EVER change my mind on this. Nods firmly.

I wish I'd played KOTOR back in the day. I got after playing SWTOR because I always heard about it, but with the controls and the graphics, I never got very far. I downloaded a mod to let it use widescreen instead of the old monitor size, but haven't tried it out.

 

All I know is from reading wiki's, so I'd have a background on it before swtor. Now I need to go read about these characters to see who they are!

Jacob is way more interesting on the romance path than he is on the platonic level. He will even break up with Shepard if she keeps trying to motherhen and "fix" any emotional issues she might want to project onto him. Jacob is very into Shepard while still being his own person. That "the priiiize" line is mostly overblown by the fandom and his writer (Lukas K, who also wrote Aveline in DA2 and Sera in DA3) accepted that he dropped the ball a few times. Lukas K wasn't asked to be on the writing team for ME3 so whatever happened after ME2 isn't on him.

 

Some people can't get past the come-hither animations Shepard has when talking to Jacob so it's gets harder for him to get a chance. Some think he's hung up on Miranda (he isn't -- the "she requires a better man than I" is also misunderstood when it's supposed to mean that it's a nice way of saying "she's too high maintenance") so there's that, too.

 

Jacob... I disliked the way they kept trying to saddle my Shep with him, I disliked his body language and he was flat and boring as a character imho. And he's not handsome either, awesome body but the face no, just no. Sorry <.<

Funny thing about Jacob, he was actually the first character I realised you could romance.  My other half - watching me play kept telling me to go back and hit on him again.  Then I got to a point where nothing happened and thought 'dang, that's as far as it goes?' (Ignorant of the whole 'sexbox' thing and no romance pt of ME1)

 

Then bam!  Guess who shows up in the Captains quarters.

 

Yes, you heard right, Jacob stole my Bioware romance cherry.  For that at least, I'll never forget him.

I liked Jacob. I really liked the rather involved conversations you could get into with him, and feel that his character was done a disservice. Shepard's behavior toward him always felt a little too objectifying for me though, and that made romancing him feel awkward for me. It's a pity.

As far as Jacob went, I think they were going for flirty and forward, but it went overboard into just being kind of awkward.

In my case the prize was a surprise!  I had to replay it twice just to make sure I wasn't dreaming.  It was that defining gaming moment that bought me to this forum to discover what the hell just happened!
