In my case the prize was a surprise! I had to replay it twice just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. It was that defining gaming moment that bought me to this forum to discover what the hell just happened!

I loved Kaidan and I thought his story from ME1 - 2 was great. He came into his own. I also liked that he stood up to Shepard when he didn't agree. I am also going to have to agree that Zaeed for LI woulda rocked my world! I also have 2 Garrus romance play throughs. Cuz he is pretty awesome. But Kaidan will always be the (ME) one for me. *dreamy sigh*
So, that elf I was playing for Solas and messed up? I think I'm going to abandon her. I just can't make her dump Blackwall for Solas and my save is to fix it all is too far back. Eventually I'll get around to making another elf for Solas and I will just avoid Blackwall like I did with Cullen until Solas is locked in so this doesn't happen again.

With my Adaar I'm doing for Sera, I had to make myself not take the flirt with Blackwall up on the battlements. That way, there was no chance of the romance starting. I knew if there was any chance, I'd never be able to deny the beard. Even so, I made sure I had a save right before, so I could do some... ummm... let's call it "testing" with Blackwall and Adaar. I can't complete my science degree in Blackwall, if I never experience the height differences myself!
I didn't know that skipping the flirt on the ramparts means you don't get his romance! hmm. Well, guess I'm better informed now. But, I'm kinda sad over this elf. She is level 15 and was ready to do the wicked eyes, wicked hearts thing. 
Some day Solas will get his turn 
I read in the modding forum that there is a way to edit saves now. So it might be possible to turn the Solas flag romance on. I haven't checked into it at all, so I can't give too much info on it. Except that it exists 
Also, I don't know if you did it yet or not, but the breakup with Blackwall during the bedroom cutscene isn't near as bad as I'd expected. I tried it once, just to see. Nothing like the breakups in DAO or DA2. He even gives you a tiny bit of approval, and says it's for the best (paraphrased). Still hard, but didn't rip my heart out like it did with Alistair.

I was thinking about romancing Solas bc his romance looks really sweet, but I'm not sure I can ever get him to NOT despise me. On my current playthroughs he just disapproves of every single thing I do, more or less. Whatever, man, I'm not going to pardon mages and exile the Wardens just for you to dump me in the end.
I made a self-insert human mage (I'm not magical in real life, I'm just more nerdy than physically active. Just to be clear) and I was thinking about romancing Cullen this time around, but his romance is waaaaay too sweet for my taste. I guess it sounds weird coming from a hardcore Alistair fangirl, but Cullen is just too much. And I still ship him with my Surana. I guess I just can't live without my dramaz. Looks like I'm stuck with Blackwall forever I love Cullen though, and he's my fave advisor. Some of his war table comments are hilarious - "No. This is ridiculous." and "Since we're being barbaric,..." are some of my favourites. His response when folks got all pissy about the Warden treaties was gold.
About Kaidan - I like him well enough, and he's sweet on the romance path, but I just can't save him over Ash, so he never leaves Virmire

Lmao Sab, I've been following the save editor thing on the DAI Tools forums like a hawk, because I ship him with my Brosca so hard and as soon as that's possible, Imma make that jerk love a dorf.
(Also the animations will be hilarious I assume she'll be either frozen or making out with his man boobs while he sucks the air)
Unfortunately I can't get the save editor to run to help find the values. I didn't troubleshoot much though because I'm still hard at work making Jammie re textures (I figured out how to use and import all 4 maps so it's just a matter of making it look pretty now
Also, I love Kaidan.
I'd love to see Solas remove your casteless brand. That would be something, lol. *nods*

I may have modded more in DAO than I played, because that toolset When I finally get around to finishing my Dorian playthrough, I'll probably start taking a look at that save game editor. I need to be working, but as I am a huge procrastinator, I thought, hey, I haven't looked at the love scene with cinematic tools yet! Maybe I'll just give that a spin before I do my projects...
There are some super strange things going on, like floating warden badges and our happy couple sinking into the hay bales, but it was pretty fun.
I never noticed before, but the hay is actually wrapped in burlap, so it shouldn't be too itchy. AND it's also covered in a pile of big furs. Those look like they'd be super plush and soft. I'll now headcanon that she'd been covered by one of them and it fell off during the night.
In the wake-up cutscene (which I won't post here, because oh no nudity), there is a rolled up blanket as a pillow that appears and disappears, which was pretty funny. I guess they wanted it to show at one point, then removed it for the next portion when she sat up.
I can see why they didn't give us full length of the makeout session, because there's a bunch of clipping going on. Here are two pictures though, for science

I still can't get the blur out of my cinematics. GAH!! Anyway with Ciara she seems to be standing in a hole in the ground. That and I can't get Master Dennet to stop creeping around. It also looks like she's shoved her hand in Blackwall's armpit. I lack anything remotely like time to do this now.
I suspect the clipping in scenes is unavoidable at this stage.
Oh yeah I can't wait for Hella's punk rock outifit to be finished!

And then Horizon happened. That really knocked my socks off. He not only stood up to her, he was mad. He yelled because he cared. His heart was on his sleeve. And he wouldn't be a yes-man and follow her down that rabbit hole. He stuck with his principles. I respected that. I admired that. I know that whole thing was one plot hammer, but I loved it. That follow-up letter sealed the deal. I was perfectly happy to wait. No complaints whatsoever. And the way they reconciled in ME3 was beautifully executed. The tense moment with guns drawn on each other, the waiting by the elevator, the will-they-or-won't-they build up.

I just turn off "depth of field" entirely when it's a problem. It's a good shortcut to the problem.

are you sure you're using the most recent version of Cinematic Tools? ...there was an update right? I know I have two versions on my computer and only one works reliably, so I assume XD ( wow I need better file organization)
I may not be - I should check it out because I've not had any updates for it as far as I'm aware. Alternatively I could turn off the dof and see where that gets me.

@Bugsie: I hear you! I keep being tempted to reply in that other thread, but then I stop myself. I'm outta likes, or I would've given you one for your last post.
It does make me think though -- we know nothing of the real Blackwall's past, and what he did before becoming a Grey Warden. People always get on about the lying and taking Blackwall's name, but since we have no idea his history, it's possible it's not an untarnished one.
Also, it makes me want an AU where Blackwall/Rainer is defended by Annalise Keating & the "How to Get Away With Murder" crew.
If he'd killed people for money on Celene's side, it never would've been a problem to Orlais. But I'm thinking the kids happening would've still caused him to change and regret his actions.
Currently on my 3rd playthrough and romancing Blackwall *sigh* I had force myself to romance someone besides Solas this time and I knew it had to be Blackwall and boy am I glad I did. That scene in the jail was so heartbreaking. I just wanted to say, 'Ah c'mere big guy, we'll get you out of there and go cuddle in the barn.' 
Given that Blackwall's story has allowed for our varying interpretations of what justice means in this instance, I feel moralising on the superiority of one particular choice over another smacks entirely of 'your playing in wrong' mentality, something that irritates the crap out of me. However 'politely' the argument is put forward.
Further to that, adding a level of insult about someones personal morals for their choice in a video game often hits the heights of absurdity that I don't want to deal with anymore.
EDIT - that's an interesting point you make about if it was an enemy of Celene he'd been sent to deal with Sabreeni. There would be lots of handwaving and sweeping under the rug from the Orlesian court I'm sure. That would be an entirely different Blackwall though!

Yep, that's where I'm at too, at this point. This thread is my corner and I will defend it to the death, but I'm too tired to fight elsewhere.
I guess this is how the Anders fans felt? At least there were thousands of them, though. There's what, like 20 of us on a good day? We hold the line pretty well.

I never really bought into the whole Anders controversy even after romancing him - mainly because I hadn't played Awakening at that stage. And even after it didn't really make an impact *shrugs*
Heh, I struggled mightily with staying out of that thread, but I popped in and posted again - can't seem to resist the urge to do combat. But that's probably the last time (unless I see something so incredibly stupid that I can't help but be motivated to say something in response).
