Yes. He and Cole are only worth of my FPC.

In terms of appearances and what we know of the latter, the Warden and Cassandra look like the only two non-qunari characters that could handle a qunari inquisitor as a potential romantic partner, so he'd be a good LI for a female qunari, IMO. But we'll just have to wait and see!

So...much...glorious chest hair.Can I just say how happy I am that Aimo has discovered the Warden's overpowering manliness? Now if you'll excuse me I need to find some tissue for my poor nose.

He looks like a human-sized dwarf anyway, the crushing is inevitable.

 

i think my favorite part is IB singing or whistling in the background. like, you know he makes up dirty little ditties and sings them around camp, at the tavern, in battle, in the bath. . .and it's why dhmg adores him. and secretly, Ser Bara loves it, too.

(plus i love the sharing-is-caring moment with the soap, irma omg i'm dying varric is so thrilled)

 

Thoroughly City Boy Varric would be ecstatic to find any cleansing aid & elixirs in the middle of the muddy & muggy wilderness, I reckon. And I'd like to think a Tainted Carebear with that kind of fine beard and coiffure would take the necessary steps to care for them whenever he can :3

 

What does it then say about me if my initial thought to seeing the Bearded Warden in the new trailer is, "Okay, he might be too old even for me."?

 

If he's not even near Iain Glen's level of old man, Beardy Warden's not too old yet heh

sadly, i think ser bara may actually NOT be a candidate for inquisi-lovin.  we haven't had a visibly 'old' companion since wynne (you can count duncan, too, for five minutes), and the games haven't been particularly inclusive of older characters getting the love. which is weird considering that in both games so far you have the ability to create and play as an older character. . .and then feel weird about romancing all your young companions.

so, here's hoping for ageism progress.

(as i slump toward 40 this issue becomes more. . .pressing for me)

I do find it interesting that your options are the oldest and the youngest(by appearance, at any rate) among our male companions.

That was one of the reason I preferred Leliana and Isabela to other Li. Didn't feel like a cradle robber with them (Merrill, shudder).
Funny thing, when I was 15 I thought people over thirty were really old, and people over forty were ancient and their life was over. 3 steps from forty I can't believe I was so stupid then.

I think Merrill just appears young because she's an elf.  She's probably around the same age as the Warden (very late teens to early 20s in DA:O, which would put her at least at mid-twenties when her romance starts).  One of the reasons I think Carver/Merrill is cute is because she's probably older than he is.

i appreciate like all get-out that everyone so far looks pretty rough/beat-up. no more barbie-plastic faces with perpetual doe-eyed expressions.  cass and varric, ser bara and iron bull. even vivienne in her way.  their years and experiences (good and bad) seem to show, and that makes me SO happy.

You are definitely right about Merrill age, Rinji, but I was more referring to her behavior and manners. I felt like Hawke was taking advantage of her, didn't like that. She does seem more mature in Act 3, although it was mostly reflected in party banter.

I'll definitely join you in the fingers/toes-crossing c': My Inquisitor is in his early forties, so Ser Bara would be perfect (I like big beards, I cannot lie).

I think there was more room in Origins for the Warden to feel like a younger, coming-of-age character, so the younger-seeming LIs weren't an issue. Hawke, tho, always being the breadwinner for their family, etc...just always seems older. And Isabela is the only LI that seemed really 'grown', probably because all the other LIs had only just left the metaphorical nest (the horrible nest in Fenris's case) and started making decisions for themselves at the start of the game.

 

Having more mature LIs would be nice.

Yes, our GW is too good to be true. And he isn't old, he looks 35- 45 old. It is OK at least for me.

About Cole- he is 20 old. It is fine.
