Oh goodness, I forgot to tell y'all about a oneliner from Blackkwall that caught me by surprise!

Paraphrased, but as I ended a kiss with Blackwall and turned to walk away, he said something like

"Oh good, the beard doesn't bother you like I feared it would."

I was really surprised, I went "Woah, he comments on it!? I want to hear mooooore!!!"

*starts conversation with Blackwall*

"We need to discuss our relationship"

*Kiss scene plays*

Young Thom Rainier reminds me a lot of young guys now who earn a large sum of money really quickly then blow it all on absolutely daft things. Like a lot of young sportsmen - who think their earning capacity will never change. It's the attitude of 'there will be more later' and then there isn't. I also get the feeling that he found being a soldier in the army really easy physically, because he had some talent, then as someone who came from nothing was obsessed with acquiring wealth that was dangled in front of him that he couldn't quite gain as a regular soldier.

I've just read 'the stolen throne' and got some insight between Orlesian nobles/soldiers those under there command. Honestly it appears to me that the wealth flaunted by the Orlesians seems as corrupting an influence as being possessed by a demon (that's how it's presented anyway.)

I need to get some positive thoughts down about how I feel about Blackwall to counteract yet another toxic and turgid moronic argument. It's a pity the ignore feature doesn't recognise when people respond to ignored posters. But it suffices for now.

That Blackwall art is wonderful. And thinking about dog vendors made me smile.

LMAO Captivating, I need a pic of Blackwall eating tiny cakes now!!

Yes! The socio-economic implications of Beardy's story are so rich for consideration that it kind of drives me crazy. In the best way, mind you.

So far I haven't seen the Orlesians painted in the best of lights. The grand game is a hideous way to conduct politics. But I guess politics irl is also a grand game.

Totally mixed up petit alms with petit fours, so didn't bother to look it up because I was giggling that his word would be 'tiny cakes'!

Well, I had mini scones for breakfast, so that almost counts as having tiny cakes. However, I now want some actual tiny cakes to nom on.

His attitude towards nobles, I feel, is not something that he gained after the whole incident with the Calliers.  We might even find out more with his life in Markham later (crossing fingers for that lore book in April), but his resentment of the nobility might have even lent to his ego when he won the melee.  "Ha, I don't need noble blood to get money and make it big!  I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP, YOU STUPID CHEVALIER."  Then that went all spiraling out of control, as we saw.

I think about his family, too.  Did Liddy's death add to that bitterness, maybe?

Unfortunately, you have to choose the heart option during your first talk at Skyhold.

Oh geez.  There really should be more than 1 line of dialogue to activate a romance.  Have any of you who have played other romances also noticed that the trigger is also one line of dialogue?  I find that most of the flirt dialogues are too direct and ooc, and even though I'd like to romance a companion, I'd like to explore some of the other dialogue options besides being a total flirt.  I mean, does the Quizzy have love on the brain the whole time? :-P  If so, I'd better be very careful in my dialogue choices when I do the other romances.

Decisions decisions..... whether to play this through or to go back like 80 hours to the start of Skyhold.  This is my canon run.  Y u so hard to get, Blackwall?  Everyone else in Thedas wants me to romance them (I have still have flirt options for most). :crying:

I agree.  I would have tried Blackwall's romance on a previous playthrough, but I really don't like where his romance starts on the battlements.  He just seems so against a relationship if you flirt that before I'd agree and say "yep, let's not pursue this".  Talk about mixed messages, Mr. Blackwall :P

That is certainly doing...something...to me right now. *dumps another bucket of ice on herself* I'm going to catch a cold at this rate - also out of Likes again or I would be spamming my Like button right now with all this art - lol.

Sidenote: I'm starting to think about signing up on tumblr because of that earlier artwork. I think I might...actually...kind of...want...to buy it...maybe...if the artist finishes it and sells prints/whatever. <.<

I've only done IB and the flirts go right over his head a lot until he finally shows up in your room saying he's caught the hint, you wanna ride the Bull. Sera always seemed to be available, imo, even when I was fully committed to Bull (dragon necklace and all) and would tell me she wasn't gonna hook up while I was still with Bull.

For Blackwall, I didn't flirt with him until the "admire" heart icon appeared. That conversation was funny. And THEN it was easier to pick the "you're oddly charming" line because the ice was broken at that point.

And do you tend to replay your canon game? If so, just finish out the one you have and you can do it proper the next time. I had to do the same thing. See, I was avoiding spoilers on this game, but I had a couple of friends who didn't. They scoured the forums for every info they could get their hands on. And they were pretty good about not spoiling me, BUT. Somehow they got misinformation that if you let Varric keep the red lyrium idol in DA2, he was going to go crazy in DAI and you'd have to put him down or spare him as the blighted creature he turned into. They knew how much I loved Varric, that it'd break my heart to have to kill a fellow dwarf, so they told me. I changed my decision in the Keep, not happy about changing my original choice, but anything to keep him alive.

Aaaaaaand that never happened. Rumors! CRAZY SPECULATIONS!

SO.  I reverted my choices back to the way they were and have restarted my canon game. After seeing what a non-issue the dark ritual turned out to be, I'm kind of irate that I lost Alistair for nothing. Almost took a wrecking ball to my world state to get Alistair back or maybe have Loghain live through all that anyway. Cooled off, kept my choices intact. I had my original reasons for making them and so shall they remain, even when writers change course. =p

Sorry for the random post, but I've just had the best Blackwall/Vivienne banter ever and just have to share.

Viv: "(...) Bathing shows common courtesy to one's travelling companions."

Blackwall: "But I'm an ill-bred vagabond from the woods. Common courtesy is beyond me."

Can't stop laughing. Blackwall, you troll ^_^

Is this before/after Revelations?

I had Vivienne and Blackwall in my party the first playthrough and it was a drag listening to them. I hung in there because I thought they'd turn a corner like Aveline and Isabela did, but after Revelations, she made some snarky comment and he put her in her place. I didn't keep her much longer after that because I didn't think it'd ever improve. Wondering if that's the case or if I gave up too soon?

After Revelations. I've had them in the party together for a few hours now (Blackwall + Viv = lots of dead dragons), and she's pretty mean to him, but that troll... XD

Viv never seems to have a nice word to say about anyone.  Even when its a compliment its served with a side dish of sarcasm.  I had to drop her from my party because I did not enjoy listening to her insults towards pretty much every other companion.  It reminded me of the reasons I so disliked Ohgren in Awakening, pretty much couldn't stand the banter he had with other companions (Anders in particular felt just damn nasty.)

I so wanted to like her, but as someone mentioned in another thread they took the ice queen trope to whole new level.
