He is ridiculously dreamy, yes. That voice...I can't even.

 

I'm pretty glad that my husband thinks he's a great character too- we were actually discussing him tonight, speculating about his past life, thinking about what a uniquely player-responsive story arc he has among other CRPG characters, etc- or else I think my pixelcrush would drive him nuts. Which, I admit, brings its own kind of fun.

 

My life-mate just went through the Revelation quest yesterday and I watched, heart pounding and covered in cold sweat.

 

He kept teasing me because "Hey it's just a game, he's a bunch of pixels, relax!"...

 

Then the gallows scene triggered and I could hear his breathing become heavier and faster, in the end he exclaimed. "What a fuckin' bastard, liar and traitor!"

 

I died inside 

 

I told him. "Why traitor? He never betrayed you nor the Inquisition, he helped in any way he could and didn't want you to get involved in his troubles..." 

 

Him. "You're right but... I wasn't expecting THAT!"

 

Then he went to see Blackwall in prison and kept chosing the friendliest dialogue options. In the end he watched me and said. "I was planning to go kill the High Dragon in the Storm Coast but I want to free him from jail first, what do I have to do?" 

 

Me:  ಥ‿ಥ

Haha One thing everyone agrees on is that he is an awesome tank That is why, my nightmare pt that I just started will be a BW romance. If I'll drag him everywhere might as well rip the benefits

Yeah I think the only time I've seen him get really f__ed up was when he fell off a tall ledge in Din'an Hanin. Otherwise, in my game, he has over 1000 HP, over 300 defense, and is constantly generating Guard, while I hang back and keep him Barrier'd up just for that touch of overkill.

He simply understood that Rainier was not the bastard he thought as soon as he talked to him in prison. He said he respected him for what he did, he could have simply left the dead Blackwall on the cliff and keep living on the run, drinking his sorrows and guilt away. He didn't like the idea of his friend rotting in prison so he changed his plans.

Sure! It's not at all special though- I just maxed sword and shield, as well as his specialization (I think he's level 22/23) and made him some Superior Battlemaster Mail with dragon bone as the primary component. Most of the stat bonuses on his gear are Constitution bonuses, or Guard generation (fade-touched Silverite or Obsidian). Easy peasy!

Initially my life-mate felt betrayed because he really liked Blackwall, they have so much in common, they are both introvert and shy and gallant and idealistic. Before he talked to him in prison he had understood he was just a cheater who had nothing to do with the Grey Wardens and was just a criminal hiding, taking advantage on the Inquisition. Then he understood that the situation was quite different and re-liked him. 

 

When I asked him how he felt about the slaughtered family he said: "Well, when you're a soldier and kill people for a living a mistake results in killing the wrong people, if you're a baker a mistake results in a charred loaf." xD

 

When I asked him about his betrayal to his men he said: "His men are those who betrayed him by killing those children, they paid for their crime".

 

He also said "Now I also understand why before leaving he talked about strangled dogs and such: He was searching for the courage to act, so reminded himself of the time he didn't act and then repented it. It's remarkable that he started learning at such an early age, many people never do".

Sooo..anyone else using this as an excuse to reroll a new character and romance Blackwall all over again ?  Yeah me either 

 

Kind of... I had one complete playthrough, then I deleted ~70 hours of gameplay to replay her because I didn't like the way I handled things with this character. Then I reached Revelations again, found out about the bugged dialogue and deleted ~80 hours of gameplay again just so I could replay and hear these couple of lines in this playthrough   That's not too weird, is it? is it? I did leave a couple of saves intact in case they ever decide to fix this bug

He's still handsome for sure, and I wouldn't throw stones at you.  

 

But still, BeardlessWall just looks off balance to me somehow, you know? I think this is the best beardless Blackwall I've seen though, because the chin has been textured. The edit is well done, no matter what I think of the effect.

I gotta say, I prefer the full beard completely. The beardless image just looks wrong to me. Having said that though, it is a good edit as @Catwall says , and well done to the author for their pursuit of beard-science!

Heh. I was always planning on rerolling my canon because I get tunnel vision on my first PT and rush to see what happens next in the story that I don't really slow down and enjoy all the stuff on the side like crafting, listening to the ambient conversations in town, and so on. Let me tell ya, it's freaking tedious to keep checking Blackwall just to make sure that I remembered to leave one personal question alone. Just watch -- by the time Revelations rolls around, patch 4 will have fixed this and changed the condition and because I didn't exhaust the tree beforehand, I'll be denied the conversation after as well. I just know it. =p

 

@MrsRobinRainier -- I really enjoyed reading about your husband's reaction to Blackwall's Revelation. That was awesome, thanks for sharing.

I was inspired by the Well of Sorrows scene and thought about how Blackwall must perceive my Necromancer Lavellan who has a penchant for forbidden arts and knowledge.  My mind wandered to the Fleetwood Mac song, "Rhiannon", and this video happened. (I recommend changing the video quality to 720p or 1080p)
