I know, maybe you'll like it better then I. I do seem to be in the minority, just look at his thread and all many fanfics for him. I think it doesn't help I can't be the race I want to be to romance him .
Is there a mod that removes those race gates, like the one for Solas?
I know someone was working on a gender gate for him, but they wanted to see if they could restore the audio first...hrm. Not that any of this matters if you're not on PC. 
I haven't heard for Cullen yet, but I know they released a bi-Blackwall mod now! Since the solas mod undoes the race-gating, I'm sure Cullen won't be too far behind.
I've just started my romance with him, and am actually enjoying the awkward flirting. I laughed for quite awhile at the first skyhold flirt, when he made my inquisitor make this face:
What I don't like about AO3 is the kudos thing. I'd really rather get one constructive comment that a bunch of kudos - well, it's nice to know someone likes your work, but it's not really helping to level up. Bit easier to get comments on ff.net, but that's just personal experience.
Overall, AO3 has more options and seems easier, but I still prefer ff.net. I'd say try both and see which one you'll like better

I've only published on FF.net so far, recently made an account on AO3 but still haven't published there. I also appreciate a constructive critique rather than kudos and that's why I always reply to those who take the time to write a comment. If I write a comment and the author does not reply, I assume it's not welcome and then I stop doing it.

I try to leave comments. I'm bad at it, and more prone to doing it if it's a longfic I'm subscribed to, because then I'm back to it more often. Squirrel brain, etc. I think that kind of personal feedback is really helpful for people. I don't post much, but I enjoy getting comments. I also have a fic that is a short one shot I wrote several years ago and it has a bunch of kudos and no comments, and that's fine with me too. It's a rarepair and it's short and it's nice to see that people still find it once in awhile.
I saw the bi Blackwall mod. I was tempted but. First i have to do that solasmance with my dwarf and maybe a Cassmance and also my interest for spending a lot of time on the game is declining (I'm sure it will be back by patch 5, but I've got a lot going on right now so I'm not fighting it haha).
*and by old i mean I'm sure it's still going on but I dont' pay attention anymore

I will start -- simply put, it is when the Inquisitor asks Blackwall to save her a dance at the Winter Palace and he replies, "All of them." I remember being taken aback by how direct and concise that statement was. It spoke volumes about how he felt about the Inquisitor. There's no wondering where one stands with him.

What makes it especially brilliant is that he is all evasive and gruff when answering your questions in the prior exchange, but as soon as you ask him to save you a dance, there is no room for doubt!

That's awesome. I think I'd have an easier time taking the blunt, forward option if it was dead serious in tone, because that's how I operate when I am interested in someone.
So basically, my RP skills suck.
Anyway, I wish there were more chances to be almost comically forward with Blackwall. One of the best things about him is how practiced and adult he generally is when you flirt, but a few more shots at seeing him get all out of balance would be great. FLUSTER THE BEARD!
My fav Blackwall moment, in my first run, was when he showed up on the terrace in my quarters, my heart started thumping rather erratically in my chest. But also at Halamshiral, when he showed up on the terrace (I love when he shows up on terraces ). I remember playing all the WEWH quest trying not to give in to what I thought to be just an illusion: that I could actually dance with him. Then the quest finished and I was so let down, I barely listened to what Morrigan had to say, how foolish of me to hope I thought. Then he arrived and I started squeeing like a teenager
Now my fav moment is during the judgement scene, when he says 'Right now I'm just a man with his heart laid bare, I leave it your hands' :°)
In my first run I wass still too shocked and angry to appreciate it at full
