Bahaha..funny I've done that scene a lot but never chose the third option, I always went with the middle one.

That's awesome. I think I'd have an easier time taking the blunt, forward option if it was dead serious in tone, because that's how I operate when I am interested in someone.

So basically, my RP skills suck.

Anyway, I wish there were more chances to be almost comically forward with Blackwall. One of the best things about him is how practiced and adult he generally is when you flirt, but a few more shots at seeing him get all out of balance would be great. FLUSTER THE BEARD!

She's being playful...but she totes means it *eyebrow waggle*

I like to picture the Sword of Truthiness look like this. Oh, Oren why'd you have to die! He would have been old enough to be a party member in this game.

Yeah, poor Fergus... :crying:

Favourite moment... there are several.

For the drama I like the talk in the prison the most. Strong moment and voice acting is very good. I. hate. Orlesian. game.

For fun, party banter with Sera, Solas and Bull.

For romantic moments, Halamshiral and meeting the dawn at the end of the game.

That really is the bestest - tee-hee. As for the beard burn, maybe an eleven? And I wouldn't mind...at...all - hah!

Oh, wow, thanks for linking that. I perused the gallery of "weaknesses" and I love the eye to detail in each card. I like how the blood flows onto the gryphon. The symbolism works well both ways.

My favorite moment is his exasperated moan and body language after you choose the "I knew you couldn't stay away" option when he comes to your room.

I think...that the relationship is very melodramatic, but it has this texture to it in moments like that that grounds it. Too often melodrama is just melodrama, all high pitched and tense and racing pulses, but the Blackwallmance isn't like that. The drama comes from the situation, from the lies and emotions and confusion, but it's real people inside it, and (most) real people cannot sustain any kind of heightened reality like that...the true self is always breaking through. Idk if this makes sense.

I compare it a lot to the Andersmance, because they are very similar (the romances not the men), but the BWmance succeeds on every level Anders fell short for me, including this one. The thing about the Andersmance was I played Sarcastic Hawke to balance him out, but it just quickly became two people sort of talking at eachother in non sequiturs, both baffled about why they were in the same room together. They only seemed on the same planet when she agreed with him, or perhaps passionately disagreed with him. What in saying is, it felt artificial. And it's partially because of Anders character and his depressing arc, but you do get glimpses of how he is with the others, and it IS more grounded.

Blackwall's not like that. He's caught up in drama, he's obsessed and full of resentment and self loathing and determination, but he's not so inflated with all that that he can't be thrown by a flirt, or tease you back, or groan when you're being cocky (but right). And your responses to him feel more natural and grounded in the scene, not like Hawke's delightfully irrelevant ones that are most certainly amazing but also...so OTT and then ignored mostly by Anders that it's like "...."

What in saying is, I think, is that to cut through the melodrama and make it real, you need the smaller simpler actions, not equally as ridiculous sarcasm/joking. And I think Sheryl did that beautifully, especially with the limitations on dialogue she must have had. And that scene in particular just makes me happy for that reason.

Question: What's your favorite Blackwall moment?

Their first kiss scene in inky's bedroom.

But I have to say that when I - after a very tough fight - heard a voice ask: "Are you alright, love?" ...I had to stop for a minute. The question came out of the blue and with such profound concern, that it made me... uh, my Lavellan... feel all warm and fuzzy.  ^_^

Alright, I'm curious - why do you continuously come into this thread (which is by and large a Blackwall fan thread) and spread facetious negativity? It really is almost trolling.

So answering a question asked to everybody is trolling now? This is a discussion thread last I read the title. I'm allowed to answer questions.

Besides, until yesterday I haven't been on this thread in weeks, so I'd hardly call that continuously.

There are ways to discuss a character you dislike; I've done it a lot in the Cullen thread and had a fairly good reception overall. Those ways do not include constant variants of "I hate this character and he should die."

Tried that. Didn't work. Only resulted in people making stuff up about what I said.

It is a discussion thread and all opinions are welcomed. Blackwall is not a dollar to be liked by everybody. But I don't understand the desire to come in the thread of a character you hate so much and consider unredeemable. What is the point?

Oh yes, you misunderstand me - of course you are allowed to answer questions in a discussion/fan thread that are posed to everyone. But the way you do it? Definitely trolling, and done deliberately to ellicit a response similar to the one you have just received.

Just ignore Hanako. They have the right to be here, it's not exclusively for Blackwall fans, just for any kind of discussion. I tend to ignore their posts in this thread not because they are negative, but because they often lack anything for me to meaningfully engage with. It's annoying but it's not trolling, because I believe its genuine and I strongly dislike the conflating of "poster I find annoying/wrong or someone who lacks social graces" with "trolling"
