That actually looks like Walking Fortress. Shield icons rotate around the character.

Opps, my bad. Thanks for the clarification (too early morning...)

I've seen the mod to upgrade the shield to HD, but I haven't used it yet either. I'd love to know if that's the original or the HD version in the pics. They're awesome pictures!

Here's the mod I was thinking of:

http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/422/?

I was thinking the same :) If this is the modded version, I shall try it out  (need practice to make decent combat shot anyway)

Huh, thanks for the link. I hadn't noticed that before. I am actually debating taking that ability off his action bar because those floating shields are getting in the way of the screenshots. They either block the character or they clip through the characters, etc.

Love these pictures! And Blackwall is handsome as always.

Just a question: on the above picure, is the ability (Shield Wall I think) modded? Earlier I saw a mod to show this ability in HQ, but I did not bother to try it out yet.

Glad you like it! ^_^ That ability is Walking Fortress, yeah, but those shields aren't modded, it's just the vanilla low res version. I didn't even know about this mod you guys mentioned, but now I'm definitely installing it too. Those pixelated shields are such an eye sore on the full-size screenie... so thanks for the link!

I super duper love this screen shot!

Quick question:  I know patch 5 came out and I haven't downloaded it yet since I'm going through my "I can't be bothered to focus on one game" phase.  Does the patch cause any new issues or was it pretty bug free?  If it seems to be okay I think I may try to download it and start back on Kaia and her Blackwall romance.

But it may have to wait until after this weekend.  I'm desperately, sporadically trying to play ACU as well and it's so damned big I can't finish it!.

I really miss getting to chat with you lovelies :(

P.S.  Can anyone here explain what the banter cheat is?

I haven't noticed any issues. The storage chest and tinting table in Undercroft are the biggest additions of the patch so you'll want to hop on all of your characters and play with the new changes. And from what I understand of the banter cheat, you install it and press a hotkey whenever you want banter to trigger. You could theoretically burn through all the banters quickly and spend the rest of the game in silence. =p

I also wanted to share a great post on tumblr about breaking up with Blackwall: http://breadedsinner...note-to-self-do

Personally I've never felt that I settled for Blackwall on a dwarf. I actually really liked Blackwall a lot more after Revelations and was hungry for more content with him as Thom Rainier. I thought he was much more interesting in the companion banters afterwards now that the mask was off. Cullen being race-gated just meant that it was his loss, not Cadash's. Blackwall makes my thug want to be a better person, to be the woman that he sees in her. Cullen is funny with his HULK SMASH approach to a lot of things on the war table so he gets on well with Cadash in that regard. Still his loss. ;)

Ah. I read tumblr thing while crankily transferring some files from my work server.

Why is there even an assumption that all women (or guys) who play female humans or elves are going to fall all over Cullen just because he's pretty and is almost flawless (lyrium addiction/other issues aside)? Because as handsome as he is, there are just going to be those people who don't find someone who is so vanilla to be that interesting.

I don't think the race you choose even matters or that it's "settling" for those who are prevented from romancing Cullen because of race-gating. It's not like I jumped into Cullen's arms because I played a human - I chatted Blackwall up and just generally found him more appealing on every level. :P

I haven't noticed anything with the patch, other than the addition of the storage chest and tinting table (YAY!!!!!!!!!)  I've lucked out on bugs though, and I don't think I've hit any, other than being very familiar with the banter between Varric and Solas about the overall effectiveness of grey wardens.  If those 2 have any others, I've never heard them.  My other companions' banters seem to be working fine, but I can verify that the glitch with those 2 is still firing every time without fail, as of this afternoon.

That confession was so weirdly worded, but I think I see what they're getting at? :/ Still don't agree with it on any level, though.

The idea that the ONLY reason you'd "stoop" (quoth that tumblr: dafuq?) to romancing one character over another is because you can't have the BEST!!1 one brings me back to the days of people grumpily saying that they'd "have" to settle for Zevran because Alistair was going to dump them. The assumption being that Zev, by virtue of not being human/a prince/the noble knight archetype was somehow less amazing?? Wtf go home, you're drunk.

Which, I get that at the end of the day it's a personal preference thing, and I'm not gonna sit here and preach about how much better Zevran is than Alistair, or Blackwall than Cullen, or Fenris than Sebastian oooorr you get my meaning.

But people don't have to be douchey about it LOL.

I can't say anything about the patch, since I haven't downloaded it yet. I know you have to fix your mods to get them working, and I haven't had time to play or update my mod file, so I haven't even started the game since before the patch dropped!

As for the banter cheat -- I love it. You do have to be careful if you're using it at the start of a game, you don't want to go overboard and blow through all your banter, but I haven't come close to that problem yet. You use it through cheat engine. So once you have cheat engine installed, you can either use just the banter cheat with it, or you can use the whole dragon age cheat list with the banter. I like to switch between them. If there's something I need from the full dragon age cheat, I'll turn it on. But if I'm just running around, I use the banter cheat as a standalone. When you want to hear a banter, you push a button (like number 1 on your keypad). It also includes banter about places. When I was at the storm coast, I heard a whole bunch of lines from people about being there that I'd never heard before. Cheat engine is fairly simple - you open it after you already have your game running. There are some good instructions for dummies out there that helped me :D

I have seen a lot of posts like "lol wow poor dwarves/qunari no one wants to play them anyway and even if they were gonna try it, they got gated out of the best romances anyway so who would bother" and i'm like "i passionately disagree with every part of that sentence"

idk why it is people who like the more popular races or romances or whatever like to condescend to the others. like, thanks, i'm perfectly fine here with my dwarves and my blackwalls and seras, i don't need your pity, i would rather play this than trev/cullen or lav/solas, sorry?

Ugh that confession riles me up - sooo many things wrong with it.  What it comes down to is people should not tell other people how to play their game.

Aside from adding storage chest and tints, patch 5 also fixed some things. I now have missions on war table that never fired for me before. Vanguard tree skills are fixed, so Blackwall and Cass are even more awesome now. :) And it seems banter has improved also even without using cheat engine. I was running in EdL yesterday with Blackwall, Sera and Varric and they chatted rather often. You can regulate CE banter frequency. I usually just left in running with 10-15 minutes interval.

Overall I consider this patch the most successful unless you wanted to farm amulets of power on consoles.

Ugh, this again. I actually have my Trev to romance Cullen this time and so far I just feel sorry for her. It's so underwhelming. I don't get Cullen's appeal at all (neither Alistair's). Playing another race and romancing Blackwall is a win-win situation for me.

Also, while I'm okay with gates based on sexuality, race restrictions make me icky. I know it's probably resources mostly, but still I don't like Cullen and Solas even more after that. It was done much better with Sera. She has her preferences, but you still can work it out.

I really dislike confession blogs. It doesn't matter what fandom it's in, most of the confessions are negative towards something, if not overtly then implied. And that one was pretty overt! I used to reply to them, but ugh. Tumblr is not a good place for discourse. It has it's strengths, but that is definitely one of it's weaknesses. I actually have a lot of confession blogs blocked, to keep my tumblr in a more happy space. I also wish people would learn to use tumblr tags properly. Things against Blackwall shouldn't be showing up in the blackwall tag, they should be in a Blackwall critical tag. I wouldn't tag cullen or solas in a something negative towards them, it would be "cullen critical" or "anti-solas". Examples, since i'm not anti Solas, though he's not in my top favorites.

I've never understood why people have to tear down one group in order to make their own group better. I don't think that poster was even necessarily trying to be mean about it. But it's like since they see the world one way, it's unfathomable that others might hold a different view. It doesn't even occur to them.

I've finally just started a Cullen romance, and I'm enjoying it, but Blackwall and Dorian are by far my top favorites. With Trevelyans, even. Because Blackwall and Dorian are my first choices, no matter what the race!

I think  they do it because they are too egoist. They constantly try to bang your head with their opinion till you adopt them as they can not accept that somebody has different preferences. I can find more and more people like this (on internet and sadly, on the streets, too) , so I usually keep myself away from them.

I fell in love with Blackwall when started to romance him, but I was in love with Cullen since DA:O, so he has a place in one of my canon playthroughs, no matter what (could not leave him behind, no matter how handsome he became over the years :)). Plus I hate Solas' romance (not because he is dumping the Inquisitor, but because he loves just  the mark, not the person, imo).

I personally like that some players even find Samson appealing.

That confession above is a joke. I know who or how I love, ok?

I dunno what those confessors would think about my game. *inflates balloon* I mean, why play a human who could actually *OMG squee* romance Cullen and instead deliberately go for Blackwall?!  Isn't he like, all emo and beardy and like, totes not 100% honest with you? And he def doesn't look like the captain of the football team in a 1950's tv series kind of way either. EW! Like, don't you even read Non-Threatening Rebound Boyfriend monthly? Do you even like healthy relationships? *ties balloon*

*pops balloon, and it emits a farting hiss as it spirals into the sun, never to be seen again*

tl;dr blah blah blah

I do have to laugh at how much people love writing Cullen as the rebound romance, like he's perpetual boy next door nice guy waiting for the girl to get over the "bad boy" so he can swoop in and be her blandaid. I'm not even a huge Cullen fan, and I think he deserves better than that.

Cathy, eh, ostensibly confession blogs aren't about being smuggo jackoffs, there have been some more moving confessions from people too afraid to talk about how much certain storylines have meant, or people just being frustrated that they can't declare their love for ProblematicMcBadBoyNPC without feeling judged, but it does draw its fair share of drama. The worst thing about that blog tho to me was that Gaider used to reblog from it and make fun of people, like it was his way of responding to frustrations about fans without having to address a specific person,  so you can imagine how well that went over and how well it fostered a general culture of respect in an already dramatic, ridiculous blog.

Blocking them is the best policy, lmao, although I get it on my dash a lot from that recommended blog feature, ugggh.

I know I was being super caustic, but I mean good lawd. It's just kind of insulting to imply that all female players will find the most mayo of all the LIs "perfect." We're not all looking for the same thing, and that's fine. Some of us want drama, tension and meaningful decision making in our vidya romances, instead of a so-called "fairytale ending."

Which was another odd choice of words. I mean, afaik, there's no extra post-game scene with Cullen where we move into a house with a white picket fence. Is there? A fairytale ending is pretty much reliant on head canon from there on out.

Same. I did Cullen's romance with my Lavellan (uh my serious one not my monster...I mean she dumped him but I legit did the romance with the other one) and I was surprised at how much I liked it with her. The only romance I actively dislike is Solas's and I don't begrudge anyone who wants to chase that egg. I have even romanced him twice anyway so obv there's some appeal despite my issues with it. (One is a disaster "who is gonna burn the house down faster" romance with monster Lav and one with my Brosca recreation with the Equal Solas mod because I have an elaborate fix it romance there lmao)
