Hnnngh Jeffrey Dean Morgan, praise be praise be
I do not mind looking at his face while we wait for Ser Beardy Warden
We slipped off the first page. That's not ok. FIXING IT
Of course this thread fell off the 1st page. There is nothing left to discuss about this guy.
Out of all the companions we know the very least about the Grey Warden, which is to say we know nothing. Everyone else has had at least some info released about them, whether it be officially or through the survey leak.
We know nothing about him, and that kind of sucks.
I suppose we could theorize and ask questions... That seems to be the rage in other threads.
If he could pick any animal to be, what animal would he choose?
What would be his liquor of choice?
The sillier the question, the better imho.
Well, a bear, obviously.
I don't drink, so I have no idea what kind of liquor he'd be.
Just another Jeffrey Dean Morgan picture for science....

you`re right
we only have concept arts and one screenshot (as far as i know). Can`t wait for more information about him, i´m really curious!
Oh... Hi everyone!
Loving all the fanart!!!

But he has no beard there.

Fine. Here...

Putting this one for hand porn:

What is his favorite body wash/soap? Probably old spice, something tried and true. Plus it has "old" in it and he is old.
^Lmao
How are you guys going to use him in combat?
I prefer him as a sword n' shield tank the way he was when we first saw him in gameplay way back, as opposed to a two-hander like in the trailer.
I expect to be using both GW and Iron Bull alot on the same team, so IB will be the DPS two-hander because I just can't picture IB with a sword and shield. Plus, Warden gives off a protective vibe to me anyway.
Just kinda depends on who I decide to keep around, really. My first inquisitor is going to be a rogue so she will need some kind of meat shield protection.
1) His spirit animal -- initially I wanted to say a bear, but I'm going to go with a wolf. He seems a bit of a howler.
2) Liquor -- a good scotch or whiskey. something to help the hair on his chest shine.
3) Body wash -- Eau de last night as in whatever perfume/cologne his friend wore the night before.
4) Combat - shield/sword definitely. Though I might be tempted to let him really show his talent with a good 2 hander.
I will make warden sword and shield. I think it just fits his aesthetic, somehow. Iron Bull fits really well as a two handed warrior. I have a hard time seeing him as sword/shield. I don't really think I'll get along with Cassandra or use her much, so warden needs to be my sword/shield guy. lol

When you need protection, Beardy McTaint is your man.
I know I'll have hard choice with warriors, because so far I like Cassandra and Warden most of all. Do you think it will be possible to run all melee party without mages? It was fun in previous games.

And much like his magnificent beard, he will grow on you. Just watch.

Sure. It might get dicey with limited healing/potions, but if you yourself are a mage, I think it would be a fun playthrough. In DA2, I rarely used the rogue companions for example, even when I wasn't a rogue. I missed out on chests, but I enjoyed the combat more, and I think doing what you enjoy more should trump creating an "optimal team"

I think that will depend on damage mitigation (and what setting you have the game on) without someone there to heal. That's the main thing I'd worry about with not having a mage there.

No, no. I meant all melee party without mages with Cassandra, Beardy, Sera and PC as DW rogues. Might be an interesting challenge. I did it for example it in DA2 on nightmare (Aveline, Fenris, Bela and PC-rogue). Probably possible on lower difficulties in DAI (not on the first playthrough maybe). Need more info on game mechanics.
Oh, and the drink is vodka! ![]()
They talked about exploration options that are only available with certain classes in the party, or even races. I think they want to encourage us to use different companions to access different things this time. I don't know how substantial they'll be, if it'll be just finding some junk loot vs actually being able to access a whole area/quest.

Well, I never tried nightmare in DA2, which makes mages very difficult to use. But if you are up for the challenge in DAI, I say go for it.

I hope they don't lock off entire areas based on who we have in our parties. Once again, I'm not all that interested in the rogue companions, but I am very interested in all the warriors and most of the mages.
Well yes, I heard about special exploration's features too, so I don't think I'll try it first. I'm just kind of meh about mage companions so far, and I don't like to play as a mage myself. And this tavern concept gives me a good feeling.
I'm a little torn on the exploration thing. I usually pick my favorites and use them the entire time. Exploration options that were substantial would encourage me to use people I wouldn't normally and maybe it would result in developing an attachment to them that I wouldn't otherwise. Maybe I would just want my favorites back, though. lol
