I am not invested in Solas myself, but I'm glad that he's making an appearance so people can get the closure they need. I feel that the demand for Solas has diminished the value of the other DLCs simply because they weren't Wolf Hunts.

I liked Solas well enough. Surprisingly before the game came out I was convinced I would hate him, and it turned out that wasn't the case.
But let's face it. Blackwall is my main squeeze and takes precedence over all others! Gimme my man!

I'm meh about him myself, but it's a good thing for his fans. Solasmancers seemed to get the crappy end of the stick compared to other LIs and as a Thanemancer, I can sympathise with that a lot
. Maybe they'll get some closure, at least.
Back to Blackwall, is the theme song thing still going on? If not then let's say I'm fashionably late. This one's from this year's Eurovision and I though the lyrics suited his romance pretty well, with the whole Revelations thing.

There will be resolution for all the characters/companions by the sounds. Blackwall included, and this makes me happy that developers and writers are not part of fandom, because a lot of fans treat other fans like crap just for not making the same choices or for simply picking a different LI.
Ugh, fandom.

I watched the stream and heard them say there would be new interactions with the companions and that makes me happy for me. And it also makes me happy for everyone else. In fact, most the stuff I've seen said about the new DLC was ppl being excited. Even I'm excited. Shhh! ![]()
Everyone here seems to be mostly nice to each other about other characters anyways ![]()
In any case I think we can all agree that this dlc looks like a big, fat YAY for all of us!
I hope they get the go ahead for the next game soon. *fingers crossed*

As much as I like seeing more Blackwall, I am actually really interested in finding out what's up with Solas two years later (and after the whole qunari invasion thing is over, I hope that Blackwall and my Inquisitor will be able to retire and live a reasonably quiet life at long, long last). As far as the name thing goes, I don't really mind using Blackwall, but if we could have the option to use Thom Rainier (or some variation therof), it would be nice. Still, I'm totally willing to sacrifice the name thing if the money that BW saves gets spent on making the DLC as good as it can be.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing the different outcomes for Blackwall. I romanced Solas but I did get Blackwall to act on his crush on Josie in that playthrough, so I'm personally hoping I see a Josie/Blackwall scene. And he's also got those three different results from his judgement and there's just a lot of shades of Blackwall available. I do hope I can get to call him Ranier finally, though.

I'm pretty stoked for the DLC, but I've yet to finish the Descent, rage quit on one of the fights and haven't picked it up again yet.

I'm really curious to see how the time skip will affect the romance - especially since my Blackwall-loving Inquisitor sentenced him to join the Wardens for real. Two years seems like plenty of time for him to go do his Joining.

I'd love to hear the Josie/Blackwall outcome so feel free to share that whenever you've finished the DLC. I tried to get that to trigger, but I didn't realize I needed companions to comment on that to get it to start. I kept checking Josie at her desk to see if that's where it'd start, boo.

Anyone know which companions you need to get it to trigger, I've never heard any resolution?

I'll be taking Varriel (my canon male quizzy) through on second play through where I got the flowers on Josies desk. Although I don't know when that will happen so I'm interested too.I'd love to hear the Josie/Blackwall outcome so feel free to share that whenever you've finished the DLC. Cole, Sera, Varric, and Vivienne can bring it up.

If I find out in Trespasser that my thing for wardens killed Blackwall, I'm going to be soooo pissed. Or laugh hysterically. But he's fine, right?

I know you've heard this a thousand times before and I know it's something you have a hard time doing, but it's so easy to avoid/ignore that particular content. I doubt they'll ambush you with a 10 minute long cutscene of Josie and Blackwall snogging in Skyhold.

About having Thom Rainier given to the Grey Wardens if he is your L.I.. As much as I respect the Grey Wardens(maybe a little less after their mistake at Adamant), I feel that Rainier being made a Grey Warden is a much worse punishment than death. As a Warden, your inevitable death may come at any time given some years after your joining. He respects and idolizes the Wardens, but I don't think he should become one-- and not because he doesn't deserve it, but because I believe he should live a life not blighted with the Inquisitor. I would rather let him atone, and if he should choose to be a Warden in the future then that is his choice, but if he is the L.I., I think the Inquisitor should stop him. An alive Warden romancing either Leliana or Morrigan should be able to relate to this situation.
Becoming a Warden requires sacrifice, and sometimes the sacrifice is too much. The Calling is something I do not wish to inflict on Rainier nor to the Inquisitor's worries.

I actually headcanon that he makes the choice to join the wardens of his own volition. His way of atoning yes. Whether Ciara stops him though... Part of me wants to know more about what the hell is going on with my wardens before I headcanon too much!

Just a couple of snippets on Blackwall (no actual spoilers, just broad strokes to get you excited -- Bugsie quoted part of it above):
http://www.gameinfor...n-pax-2015.aspx
I know they’re different BioWare teams, but some of the the goals of Trespasser remind me of Mass Effect 3’s Citadel DLC. Did you take any inspiration from that?
I would say we took some notes there. Citadel happens in the timeline – it happens mid-mission, before the end. It’s not an epilogue in the same way, though when it was released, for many people it was their last experience with Mass Effect. This big thing about Citadel that we found resonant was that opportunity to hang out with your friends again and saddle up for another mission. There’s a bit of a joy in seeing these folks again and seeing how they’ve evolved. How are things with Dorian now? How are things with Blackwall? Of course, we can change elements of that based on how you played Inquisition and the decisions you made. There is a chunk of Trespasser where you get to catch up with old friends, and that is certainly our most hotly requested thing for DLC. When we look at critiques for The Descent, it’s often “Well, I just wanted more out of my followers.” We wanted to make sure that you have the opportunity to deal with your advisors like Cullen and Josephine, but also that the followers are there and you have a chance to see how things have turned out for them.
And --
So, Solas is a factor, but the epilogue isn’t about him?
I would say no. You will certainly come away with a greater understanding of his situation by playing Trespasser, but it’s not just the Solas story. Instead, this is one where the crisis, the regrouping, a last hurrah, a chance to see your friends and followers, and Solas are all a part of it. Seeing how things turned out for Solas is just as much a part of the adventure as seeing how things turned out for Blackwall – it’s just that his plays out differently from the others.

Yes, I thought the emphasis on Blackwall was intriguing.
When I first read the announcement, I interpreted the repetition of the name as a kind of acknowledgement that none of the characters would be neglected. I love Blackwall and care what happens to him, but I am very well aware of how uncommon that sentiment is. I took it as alternative phrasing for "We aren't going to forget anyone, not even the lesser lights." Soooooo many times, they seem to fixate on a writers' pet (Morrigan, Leliana), and other characters get no love. Zevran's past is a lot more interesting than Leliana's was, but we didn't get a DLC about it. And you have to admit, the pre-release publicity was definitely skewed in favor of certain characters who were definitely not Blackwall. I thought the phrasing might be reassurance that they aren't still doing it.
Now, I'm kinda wondering if they don't have something up their sleeves.

I'm sure he will go through the joining if you judge him to go to the wardens. If he survives or not is a different matter. But I'm really curious about the free Blackwall judgment, so many possibilities!

I'm sure they do since Blackwall is one of the companions that you get to influence the most. Compare his story and the possible endings to Varric, Sera or Dorian for example. That's not to say that you don't get to influence them, because you do. But Blackwall's judgment was a huge decision.

I talked myself into putting the money aside for the dlc on the 8th. I'm ready for more Blackwall
. Still skipping Descent for now though. Maybe later.
I hope the new interactions don't take away the ending scene I got with my Blackwall pt though. That was one of the things I really liked. Them together, looking off into the future together. *dreamysigh*

The one upside of the Golden Nug in the upcoming patch is that it should transfer all the mounts you already have, meaning you don't need to have Dennet at Skyhold to repurchase the mounts. In case you want some extra privacy at the barn. =p
