Patch 10 went live earlier today. I loaded up my first playthrough and checked Blackwall after Revelations. Still bugged in regards to the "I want to know the truth this time" conversation. They're also done with the beta testing patches forum. I reported this bug every time they put out a new patch to test so it wasn't like we didn't fight the good fight. C'est la vie.

Yeah. I checked it outright after last patch came out too. It's a shame, while in my next playthrough I plan to leave this convo branch partially unused, as I've yet to experience these dialogues myself, some people are not even aware that it exists or don't know about this little hack

Blackwall was a remarkable character. Probably the most interesting and involved of your team, aside from Cassaundra.

A great fighter and asset. Took him down into the Deep Roads with me.

So, I plan on romancing Blackwall but what I wanted to do when I romanced him was tell him to join the Wardens instead of stay with the Inquisition after the game-- is that possible or is the only way to complete the romance by accepting him into the Inquisition after his trial?

It is possible to send him to the Wardens and continue the romance.

The only way to mess up the relationship is if you force him to continue the lie. Just make a save before you judge him. There will be heart icons to confirm that you're still committed so there's no wondering afterwards.

 

Also, if you're not too far in the romance with Blackwall, there is a dialogue bug that will prevent him from answering personal questions after Revelations. Read Sheryl Chee's post for how to work around it.

Hi, Does anyone know how to get the banter between Blackwall and Vivienne when they argue about his small clothes? It starts samething like "from warden to jester", but I always get the comment about "setting aside out masks".

Hey, fellow Wall Climbers! It's been...a while since I was last here, but I'm currently playing through the game again before I get my hands on Trespasser. Of course, I'm romancing Blackwall again, lol. I've still got a ways to go (over half the main campaign and the previous two DLCs) but just wondered if anyone who's finished Trespasser yet can give me non-spoilery answers to the following questions before my head explodes:

I've heard that some of the romances now conclude with a marriage. Is Blackwall's one of them? Or at the least, does it have a happy ending? I swear if they give us more heartbreak after the emotional rollercoaster in the base game I'm going to start flipping tables.

Does the DLC respect your decision if you decided to keep him with the Inquisition, or has he gone to the Wardens regardless?

Hey Blackwall peeps! Question for you - I can't seem to get his crisis quest to fire. I'm at the final point where if I progress in the story any further then all my companion quests will be locked out. I've completed his quest on other playthroughs, but this one has me stumped. I know his approval isn't the highest (I let Celene get killed, but I did not banish the Wardens at Adamant). Does it matter that my IQ broke up with him at the start of the romance during the "Batman" balcony scene? For whatever reason, the conversation where he wants to have a drink hasn't fired yet. I've also finished collecting all the artifacts (however I didn't have him with me for each one which I know hurt his approval).

Did you go to the storm coast and retrieve Blackwall's (the real Blackwall's) badge? You won't get the crisis quest to fire otherwise as far as I know.

I finished it with a warden Blackwall and at least it recognizes that decision. As for a happy ending:

No marriage in my playthrough. He's forced to go back to the Wardens after a year and they never see each other again.

It appears mine Blackwall bugged, as he disappeared after starting the Trespasser. Although in my playthrough, his second quest with him going to jail never appeared, he simply stayed in Skyhold through the whole game as selectable companion, Blackwall (could take him everywhere, he also commented past Corypheus etc.). Then, after strating Trespasser, he is nowhere to be seen. His card in codex disappeared, strangely enough, he now appears crossed out on character selection as Thom Rhainer (although he never revealed his identity, nor he never went anywhere in this playthrough).

No marriage scene. I checked with both possible endings and nothing changed. I do remember a conversation with Cassandra about getting married and I picked the star icon that it had been on my mind. I checked Blackwall between eluvian trips and there was nothing about the subject of marriage. No idea if this is a bug or if Blackwall does not get a wedding at all.

 

This is the epilogue for freed Thom Rainier:

 

Spoiler

Thom Rainier was shown mercy when none was deserved, and set on a path of redemption. This gift, so compassionately given, needed to be shared.

 

Freed from his obligations to the Inquistion, Rainier traveled Thedas, giving hope to the condemned and the forgotten.

 

In the deepest prisons and pits of Thedas, he found, if not goodness itself, its potential.

 

By showing faith in those who had none, Rainier lifted them up and made them into something better than they were.

 

And always by his side was the woman he loved.

 

Held up as the inspiration for change in Rainier himself, and across all Thedas, her legend continued to grow.

That epilogue...that's my Beardy babe. It may not be easy to be a Blackwall romancer in this fandom (sometimes) but it sure as heck can be rewarding. Today was one of those rewarding days for me.

 

After putting the game down for a few months, I started a new character last night, a Dwarf I named Sabria. And I'm pretty certain she'll be climbing the Wall.

I was extremely satisfied with Blackwall in the DLC. I wanted Thom Rainier content/development and it delivered.
