I made this response in a thread about Blackwall and I thought I would share it here.

The thread to those who are interested - http://forum.bioware...ackwall-is-sex/

So Thom Rainier lies. You act like that is a big problem. Almost all the characters we have met in the Dragon Age franchise has some skeletons they want to keep in the closet.

In Origins, you have Morrigan who was really only after Urthemiel's soul and she did not tell you this until the very end and leaves if you decide to not acquiesce to her. You also have Leliana who is not very forthcoming about her past until a certain plot point in the story.

In 2, you have Isabela who essentially lies about why she was at Kirkwall until the Qunari war and she might not even be back after obtaining the Tome. Apart from her, who can forget Anders, who obfuscates about obtaining some exotic materials right up until he blows the Kirkwall Chantry.

In Inquisition, you have Bianca who mucked up bad time be leaking the location of Bartrand's Folly, you have Solas who messed up the world in a fundamental way and plans to do so again and you have Vivienne trying to get into your good graces for the sole purpose of acquiring power for herself.

Despite all this, there are many who romance Morrigan, Isabela, Anders and Solas. But Blacknier is bad because he lied and has decided to atone for it ? Bullfreakingshite.

Sure, be upset at him for a while but after a time, one should get over it. Besides, in my opinion, Blackwall is the best straight female love interest in the game. There are multiple reasons for this.

1) He actually looks manly and masculine unlike pretty boy Cullen. He does not need to style his hair to look good, all he needs to do is take his clothes off.

2) He is all about forgiveness, giving people second chances and is all around rather chill.

3) He is accepting of all women from all races, unlike Cullen and Solas.

4) He does not sleep around like Iron Bull. Far less chance to get an STD.

5) He does not assume to know the protagonist's sexual preference like Iron Bull does. Screw your Ben-Hassrath training Bull, my female Inquisitor does not like to be dominated.

6) He has the least amount of character BS. All you have to deal with when it comes to Blacknier is that he made a very bad decision once and that's it. He is not a recovering drug addict like Cullen or a soldier with PTSD like Iron Bull who is from an oppressive cult out for world dominance or a demigod who screws with reality with messy results like Solas. He is just a guy who made one awful decision and decides to atone for it.

So why was there never a comic about the Inquisitor after a battle running into Blackwall's arms, and rubbing her face into his beard; then, as she goes to look him in the eye he runs away because her face is covered in blood from his beard?

LOL! That's an image. Could it be that some Inquisitors are too short to reach his beard?

HEEEELLLLPPP

Replaying DAI and this man is seducing me. THE NERVE.

My female Cadash is currently going through the same thing... she definitely hopes Varric is right and he's a "Pokey" kind of guy.

Am I the only one who hates those parting lines of dialogue?

The more I play the game, the more I'm convinced that it's a polite code for;

Inquisitor: I want to get away from you now.

Blackwall: Well fine! F**k you too then!

Kind of wish they might have rewritten the parting dialogue for Blackwall, because it really does make our characters sound like they're finding an excuse to leave and Blackwall being understandably miffed as a result. I hate ending the conversation sounding like we've just had a fight or something!

I am surprised that the real Blackwall disappeared in 9:36, which isn't even that long ago.

I'd always assumed that Rainier's crime was a sin of the youth and he'd been hiding for decades now.

Now that I think, aren't the spinning sinking feeling you get when you're caught in lie and the spinning nervous feeling you get when your in love the same thing? That must of made the Blackwall romance like a case of walking pneumonia for him.

Three years of hiding and finding religion turned Leliana from a bad girl Bard, to a sweet and pious Chantry Sister by the time of Origins, so Blackwall changing into a better man after 5 years of living as a Warden doesn't seem that far-fetched.

I still haven't been back to DA:I.  I keep telling myself someday, but it hasn't happened yet.  So, I wanted to stop by and say hi...so, HI!  Miss chatting with you guys.  Me and a few long timers from here have a small group where we chit chat about various BioWare games and keep in touch.  If any of you would like to join us, send me a tell and I'll try to invite you if I can remember how, lol.

Have a picture of my canon Inquisitor with her canon boyfriend (and hooked up Dorian+Bull):

In the interest of science (), do you prefer Sumalee or Alix's voice for BW's romance? I'm trying to choose and it's difficult.

I romanced Blackwall with my Qunarisitor who had Sumalee's voice. I always do Sumalee for Qunari/Dwarf, and Alix for Human/Elf. Just seems to work that way for me.

I know, I know. I just thought he'd spent half his life in hiding, but it actually hasn't been that long.

Weelll, hello, I haven't been on here since forever... or at least for a year or so... Glad to see the forum is still fairly active.

I've decided to give Inquisition another go since I've stopped after only one full and, ugh, about five attempted playthroughs, and haven't actually played any of the dlcs at all. But right now I feel like I need some light gaming after the gruelling Darks Souls 3 struggle I've been engaged in for the past couple of months.

Anyway, I'm posting this here cause I've got my mind set on a Blackwall romance this time, I just hope he'll give me enough resolve to make it through the Hinterlands fetch quest city, which is where most of my other characters got stuck forever  And since like I said I haven't done the dlc, can anyone tell me if it adds any interesting dialog or scenes for him? I only know that Sera and Cullen get a wedding if romanced, but what about the other love interests?

No, only Cullen and Sera have the option to be married. Some of the others you can discuss it, and others you don't even get that. It sucks.  <_< :crying:

DAI gives two dates for the Callier Massacre: 9:35 and 9:37 Dragon. Anyone know which one is correct?

No wedding in Trespasser with Blackwall, but a very good reunion scene.

I pulled out my WoT books to see if I could find an answer. Mildly paraphrased for efficiency, "In 9:36, the [real] Blackwall went to Montsimmard with plans to return to Val Chevin. However, he never reached the town and fell out of contact."

So if my two options were 9:35 and 9:37, I will go with 9:35 since Blackwall disappeared after meeting Thom in 9:36.

---

I agree that the reunion scenes make up for all the ...underwhelming in the main game.

Just skip the Hinterlands. It kills your love of games unless you're a completionist who just accepts teh grind is made up for by the rest of the game.

I agree with everything you said, but my understanding is that Blackwall had been pretty promiscuous and sex minded in the past. I believe it shows in his banter with Iron Bull? Not on the vein of sex, but towards his character profile, I just romanced him in my last PT, and he admits that the very thing the real Blackwall noticed him for was selfish. He told some guys to stop harassing the bar wench...but because it was interfering with him getting his drink on in a timely fashion, not because he actually gave a crap. And this is AFTER he's killed kids, run away etc. But then a week later, he's born again Blackwall. That was a lot of maturing inside a very short period.
