I actually think he has as good a chance as Solas or Dorian of being a LI. He's human, so there won't be drastic height differences as there would be for Varric or Iron Bull. Both Beardy and Solas aren't exactly your traditional looking LI, so it could be either one of them. Then again, you could say Solas is a shoo-in because he's an elf; then it's simply between the two humans, Dorian and Beardy. Remember also that Solas and Dorian are both mages... would they make our only non-NPC male romances both mages? We shall see.

I know everyone (or a vocal minority) think Solas looks like Nicholas cage, but once I saw a bald companion, I wanted a Heisenberg look alike so bad.

nicholas cage, yeah no wonder i dont like the way solas looks....  cage is literally the last person i would cast for an action role....  not to rip on his acting, but he just doesnt look intimidating at all....  more like a sad puppy i want to kick over and over

Actually, to be honest, how my theory with LI's goes (as much as I hate discussing this as it makes me sad) I think Beardy Warden will be a LI before Solas. In fact, I think it'll be Beardy Warden, Cullen, and Dorian for male LI's. Though the more I think about it the less beat up I am. For too long a lot of the LI's haven't been, for lack of better words, the 'manly' type. (Though what defines femininity and masculinity really?) We've had a lot of younger looking LI's and, for once, I think it'd be nice to have an older and gruff LI for a change.

But, as for older subjects, I hope he doesn't become all about representing the Grey Wardens and less about him being a character himself. That would be no good indeed.

Somebody will end beeing disappointed anyway. I would just like more variety, than Marric's clone and an elf three game at a row. Skinny, hairless, teenage-looking male elves are not attractive to me at all.

Hey, it's only fair/to be expected. We went from several LI's all in their 20's-early 30's ish, to ironBull, Beardy warden, Solas, Viv, and cass. That's a fair discrepancy. It's a good one, but a fair departure from the previous fare.

I mostly meant elven body complexion, but... Solas, too old?

Once made a little experiment with some of my  coworkers, mostly women over 40. I showed them images of Meredith and Duncan asking to guess their age. Meredith gathered 42-43, Duncan 45-46. So, perspective changes with age.

And I think Beardy is at the same age range (40-45). If he is too old for some people, too bad. I'm glad for once it's not kindergarten party.

An older LI would be quite refreshing for the series, I think. Beardy would remind me of Samara from Mass Effect in many ways. She is an extraordinary and under appreciated character IMO, and the mini romance is very well done. The fact she's probably the only potential LI who turns Shepard down out of duty makes me respect her even more.

If Beardy had to turn us down as well, I would both swoon and be heartbroken! Don't most Wardens avoid romantic entanglements, due to their short and violent lives?The forbidden fruit is all the sweeter.

I hear yah. As much as I didn't like it happening before (tragic romances) I don't see why it wouldn't happen again. I guess it's just a risk the player must be willing to take. I mean, if you think about it, an individual is taking the same risk with Alistair if you romance him. While he is only newly recruited in Origins the Calling would eventually happen, right? Though, I'd be especially beat up if you have to watch Beardy Warden deteriorate in game like Thane.

But the Marric clones... haaaaaa... bless Cullen and his fan-base, but all I can say is 'again?' It's vanilla, it's safe, and therefore it's boring to me. I had my run with Alistair, now it would be nice to see something different. But it is what it is.

I would have the utmost respect for the writer of Beardy-Warden if his turn-down speech involved him recognizing his situation and then making the decision to turn down the Inquisitor, knowing what the future will bring for them. (Such as the Samara mini-romance) However, it is possible he doesn't have that sort of self-restraint. There can be a point in ones life where they just stop caring because of the odds stacked up against them. As much as I don't want to see him in this light, he could have a destructive personality just like some of the companions in DA2. It would be a dick move, for sure, but fair-game. Or, I don't know, maybe they'll allow a cure for Beardy Warden in this game. There is a lot to speculate.

Anders and Fenris don't really seem to me to fall into the 'I know I'm dieing so screw everything' category. Anders was just a preachy douche, and Fenris was plain moody. A companion with a well written 'live life the way they want until the bitter end, cause it's coming soon' complex.

You know, I was thinking about it the wrong way. But, since you put it that way, it doesn't seem so bad. Though that's a 'live life to the fullest' mentality. (In which I kind of associate with Isabella) But, even after all the stuff she pulled, I was the least upset with her. Well, I guess simply positivity through 'ignorance is bliss' wouldn't be so awful with Beardy Warden.
