Of course, if he is Michel, that'll make my choice of primary warrior companion easier. All the options have been awesome so far; but if the Warden turns out to be Michel, that at least narrows it down to Cassandra or Iron Bull.

That doesn't explain anything.

 

It isn't a question of why Michel would leave the wardens, but why he would join with them in the first place given that it is in no way aligned with what we know of his motivations at the end of TME.

The Michel as the Grey Warden theory feels very forced, disjointed and pointlessly complex.  Why derail Michel's story when Mr. Weekes just spent 380 pages refining it?
