It was mentioned in response to one of his armor concepts with the giant plumes on his helmet, that he is probably from Orlais. I will dig up in the thread and maybe i could find it
I'm not really sure why the armour would indicate his nationality, though. They've shown concept art of people wearing all sorts of armour from all sorts of places - and that picture was specifically made to show him off wearing different styles.

Oh it was just a mentioned theory, no actual anything really... But since plumes are common in Orlais, ect ect. That was my vague thought trail...

As long as he's not losing bits and pieces : hair , nails etc...he's fine.

He looks to me like he's one day away from turning ghoul. 
He didn't have that vibe in the trailer.
Based on the screenshot I'm pretty sure they got rid of the grey streaks in his hair and beard. Disappointing, one of the main attractions I had to him.
Even if he's near his calling, it'll only really matter to us if they force him to leave in the middle of the game.
A character that know he has nothing to lose, since he's losing himself already, is going to be interesting. I wonder if he's our Judas.

It seems Frostbite engine just hates hair. No wonder most companions are either bald or shorthaired. Long or multicoloured hair is too complicated, unfortunately. I wasn't impressed with Sera's hair either.

It's the appropriate word). While it might not mean much (in previous games if you used a full beard you had those cheeks), it might be a sign of how close it is to the joining.
I actually noticed this as well. I thought he looked gaunt (right word, imo) too. It's what made me lose interest in him as an LI, but gain interest in him as a possible taint-ridden, Calling-approaching Grey Warden. There could be some cool stories involving him if he's nearing his calling. I wonder if he'll even make it to the end of the game. It could be interesting if his companion quest was actually him going on his calling and the Inquisitor saying goodbye.
