I wouldn't mind if his Calling were incorporated into his romance, but I would be annoyed if they constantly hit you over the head with his impending death.  I do not want that to be Blackwall's defining characteristic, and I do not want that to be the main theme of his romance.

It is an important factor, though- I'd expect it  to be brought up at the beginning of the romance, midway through the romance as a "last way out" offer from Blackwall, and at the end of the Romance arc.

That's fine.  I just don't want that to be what every conversation, flirt, and sexy look comes down to.

Though I will say that I would also be very happy if the romance has the possibility of not being tragic at all.  Blackwall has certainly already come to terms with the Calling, and if the Inquisitor can accept and move past the inevitable loss I'd be more than happy to romance him without all the doom and gloom added in.  I don't think that would negatively affect the depth of his character or the romance plot either since it just entails them coming to terms with the problem in a different way.

Avernus has had a lot of time to research the blight, and Fiona always could have come up with something.

I just hope that if he is a romance, that we don't have a repeat of Thane and have him die in-game. Wasn't it suggested in the books that there could be a way to avoid the calling thing?

Could it be related to how the OGB can save a Warden?

Because most children born of a warden die as children or teens.

Where are you getting this? Because it's been confirmed by Gaider that the taint doesn't transfer to the children of Grey Wardens (edit: in case the plural is confusing: I mean children of any one Warden, not children whose both parents are Wardens). Can't find the original post anymore, but here's a Wiki discussion that references it: http://dragonage.wik...ren_of_a_Warden

Tis true, and has been talked about by Gaider.  The children of a Warden do not have the taint.  Two Wardens, however, cannot have children together.

Here's a quick question, while everyone's talking about curing Blackwall of the taint, would Blackwall even take that option if it were available to him? The Taint might be what kills Grey Wardens, but it's also what gives them their powers, and allows them to help people. Blackwall's all about self-sacrifice for the greater good, why would he give up a power that allows him to help people more effectively (and kill an archdemon should one arise) just for the sake of adding a few more years to his life?

Word of Gaider: "A Grey Warden can have a child... just not with another Grey Warden."

Did Fiona lose her Darkspawn detection when she was cleared of her taint acne?

That's...actually a good question.

Might explain why she left the wardens; if she couldn't detect them and didn't have the immunity from the taint anymore, she was of no use to them.

Probably not. She is too special for that.
