Man, now I'm really, really hoping for a Masquerade ball.

Complete with Jareth the Goblin King, which of course, needs to be accompanied by awesome Bowie music...

I'm all for fancy Orlesian Balls and cheeses that taste like despair...
... so long as it all ends in blood. ![]()

I want that Maevaris dress form my male Inquisitor.
Well, they gave Morrigan a big-ass gown. So I can't see why we shouldn't get one. I do wish they would do something about all the "noble" dresses aswell. They were boring and reptitive in DAO but in DAII their texture actually seemed to have gotten worse!

Seriously though, DAI has a semi-steampunk vibe already. This would fit right in...

I'd love a set like this for my mage. I'm pretty sure the codex entry on this set states that Malcom used it to get into a ball Leandra was attending. This is a modded version though, the original is in red (Love the black though).
I also just want to say that the Corvo set on the first page is incredibly bad ass.

I have no shame in this. It seems like cheating, but this dress (or something close enough to it to avoid copyright issues,) still comes to mind when I think of a grand ball:

I want my Fem Inquisitor to look bright and colourful

Isn't that Vivienne?
No, it's her twin brother Tivi. See, he enjoys a pretty dress every now and then. He likes the cool breeze up the skirt on a hot summer day. ![]()
I hope they don't squander the potential outfits. Or go for outright ridiculous ones. A variety would be nice and having it as an option to change into at headquarters. A choice between Orlesian and sensibly classy.
I always sent Sten and Oghren to save my warden from prison just so I could a hold of their noble outfits. >:3 My warden was the most fabulous of them all! Pity Hawke looked like she was wearing a red burlap sack with crayon doodles on the back of her clothes. MoTa didn't alleviate this trend sadly.
I'm all for an Orlesian ball. However, the Inquisitor should have the option to choose his or her attire among different options. Since the ball will be part of a diplomatic quest, each option gives you a different reputation bonus depending on who you're talking to and what's their fashion sense ![]()
Bonus points if before the ball you have Leliana as your Orlesian fashion expert to guide you through the options.
If I had to recommend dresses, that would be those worn by the ladies from the tv show "Reign". (Though they're probably not extravagant enough for the Orlesian court?)

The Inquisitor will probably not fight in his/her ball outfit but if by chance that happend then I won't be against this type of vibe:

Or a more classy one, if we can pick.
Pretty much this...but in a dark blue.

Since I'm most likely playing as a female, I would guess a dress. Ugh.. I hope not some frilly/fluffy monstrosity. Something simple and practical, just in case I need to stab someone.
MOTA suggested that pants are acceptable for a woman in social situations, so hopefully my F!Inquisitors will have non-dress options.
I hope the fashion is unique enough that it doesn't just make me think of 18th century France.
If The Masked Empire's preview in Amazon is to be believed, masks or half-masks might be mandatory. All Orlesian nobles wear them in public, even outside the balls (now I have to look for pictures; Venetian masks look promising).
And be careful with the honorifics. Forget about those Japanese "-sama" or "-san", we have to remember to call the Divine "Your Holiness" or "Most Holy" and the Empress "Your Imperial Majesty" or "Your Radiance". But don't let anyone forget that the proper title for the Inquisitor is "Your Eminence" or... "Your Badassery"? ![]()
"Your Badassery" ![]()
I guess that the way our Inquisitor will be dressed could depend of the reason why he/she will be attending the ball in the first place? If He/she is on official duty, like Evangeline was in Asunder, then there is no reason to privilege a (not practical) ball attire.
But I personally prefer the scénario in which our Inquisitor is forced to blend incognito into the Orlesian high-society, thanks to his/her mask. That could be fun and an excuse for a lot of clothing extravagances. Hopefully the attires will be originals but not to the point of being hideous ...
"Your Badassery"
Of course, that title would be also allowed for the Champion of Kirkwall and especially the Hero of Ferelden. Hell, even the empress herself knows the story of how the Hero of Ferelden went to a demon-infested tower, killed every nasty creature inside and came back like a pro.

Incognito won't save you. Servants use masks too ![]()
The preview also states that Chantry members are the only ones not to use masks to symbolize that they're above political issues (no blue-blooded Orlesian buys it, of course). Well, them and palace guards, because if not it would be too easy for an assassin to get aremd and undetected.
