"Did you see that, Shay? That last shot, right in the flashlight! BAWOOOM!!!" Ereba shouted as she ran up the stairs to the spectator area of the Armax Arsenal Arena.
Shayrana sighed. "Is this all you're going to do with your leave? Spend it here in the arena fighting? I don't know what's going on under that crest of yours half the time."
"But that's my fourth gold. I can unlock some sh*t now," Ereba said and put her hands on the other Asari's shoulders. "Wait here, I'll be right back. Then we'll get some dinner. I'll cash one of these golds in and take you to that fancy sushi restaurant."
"Promise?"
"Babe, have I ever broken a promise?"
"No."
"Then wait. It'll just take me a minute," Ereba said and ran to the kiosk to cash in her prizes.
There were three kiosks. One for bronze prizes, one for silver prizes, and one for gold. When she went to the gold station and slid her card in the slot she received a message. "Do you want to upgrade? 3 golds = 1 platinum. Yes/No."
Ereba thought about this for a minute. Sure, I'll upgrade. Why not?" She hit the yes button.
"Go to counter for your prize," the screen said.
Okay Ereba thought, and walked over to the counter on her right next to the armor that was on display and spoke to the human female behind the counter. "Your machine told me to come here for a platinum upgrade."
The dark haired woman looked over the commando. "Your card please."
Ereba handed her card.
"So you're the one climbing the leader board tonight," she said, "So what do you want? You can get a heavy sniper rifle, looks like you have that covered. Upgraded armor. Or heavy weapons."
"Tell me about the heavy weapons."
"Well, there's your standard affairs like your rocket launchers, Blackstorm, Grenade Launchers, and that stuff. And your one shot stuff like your M-960 Cain and the M-560 Hydra."
"What do you mean by one shot?"
"It's only good for one match," the woman replied, "but the problem with the Cain is that it might take out you, too. The Hydra on the other hand can still take down a Colossus with one hit. You'll have to be accurate though. Most people use these if they're getting close to the magic number. Most of the time they miss."
"I don't miss." Ereba bragged.
"I noticed," she said. "I see your stats. Your headshot percentage is outstanding."
"I'll take the Hydra. I think I can break 10,000 while I'm on shore leave," Ereba said, and cast a glance toward Shayrana. "That is if I can talk my friend over there into letting me try."
"You're a couple?" the woman asked. "I thought Asari only mated with other species."
"Well, you're wrong. Why does every human think that?" Ereba asked. "Some Matriarch said we should start mating with other species because she thought it would strengthen the race. I think it's a bunch of crap. I mean look at me. I'm half-Krogan. Where's the Krogan?"
"I see your point. I think. Anyway, here's your receipt." she scanned it into Ereba's omni-tool.
"I should go. Shay is waiting for me," Ereba said, turned and started walking, and a Krogan bumped into her. "Hey! Watch where you're walking!"
The Krogan turned and glared at her. Ereba headbutted him.
"You dare!" the Krogan said his eyes aflame.
Shayrana ran over and grabbed Ereba by the arm. "Come on, let's go. We're late."
Ereba stood her ground staring into the Krogan's left eye. "Why don't you beat my score, tough guy? 8,150."
The Krogan laughed. "Running off. Typical Asari."
Ereba's aura flared blue.
"Come on, Ereba. Remember what happened last time."
The Krogan laughed. "What happened last time?"
"She went bloodrage and... it was a mess. She ended up in the brig. So settle it in the arena." Shayrana said.
The Krogan grunted. "So she takes after her father, and for that, I'll beat her score. My name is Analakh Urug. Just so you know who beat you."
Ereba paused a moment, her aura went back to normal. "Fine," she said, turned with Shayrana and left.
On her way to the door Ereba turned to Shayrana. "I did not go blood rage. Asari can't go...."
"What do you call it, then?"
"Things just got a little intense. I was defending your honor."
"I can defend my own honor," Shayrana said. "You hung around your father too much."
"Well, when mom's shipping out all the time with the commandos what do you expect?"
They left the arena and headed toward the sushi restaurant.
