Eteon watched as the Asari was dropped off and could feel her mouth gaping. She just speared one of them. Speared... The Cabal sat on the roof of the train for a moment while she contemplated the insanity of the current situation. All of it. The past five to ten minutes of it. She was beginning to think that Deidrus' idea of doing something outside the box was more trouble than it was worth. By a long shot.

This is the last time I get involved in Alien plots which resemble a scene from a movie you would have seen on the Extranet. "While you guys are doing that..." She sighed and shook her head. Doesn't matter. "Morgan!" She walked over to the man. "Can you help me get these Asari out of the cars? So that something not involving guns can occur at this moment?"

Talllis. Bad things always seemed to happen to Tallis.

The ride down was enjoyable for once. Tallis loved her team. They were brilliant, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. She knew she wasn't the leader, or the anchor, or the smart one, or really either of the two smart ones. But she loved her team, and that they always considered her part of it. Tallis had slowed her descent, watching the others alight on the ground below, and enjoying the glide.

There was the high-pitched whine of an eezo engine above, and Tallis looked up. "Skycar. Skycar?"

It was a really nice looking skycar. Doing something really strange.

When it pulled alongside her, her jaw dropped in surprise. A really pretty human lady was aiming an odd looking gun at her. Maybe a grapnel gun. Maybe the human lady wanted to go mountain climbing?

The grapnel gun fired and the spear like hook went clean through her thigh.

Tallis screamed as the line went taught. The skycar was pulling her back up to the turian ship. She climbed up the cable, in tremendous pain from her leg. A commando to the end, her suit administered medigel to the wound, but she was going to show that human lady a thing or two.

But when she got to the skycar, the lady had a gun.

Not fair.

When Tallis finally landed inside the turian frigate, she collapsed. The human lady said, "She'll live," and walked away.

Tallis felt light headed, possibly from the loss of blood. "Silver eye. Silver eye."

Jess held up her hands. "Cool it luv.... She's a prisoner".

"Then let's get the binder's on her shall we"?

Jess blinked. Elara sounded positively gleeful at the prospect of restraining the commando when she heard the commando's helmet seals pop. Turning around she saw her pull her helmet off and drop it on the ground. The Asari's face was set in a grimace as she kept pressure on her thigh where the grapnel had pierced. " MANIAC"! She shouted. "We were surrendering"!

"Stop"! Jess growled pointed a finger. "You caused all this. If you'd gone along we'd be flying away by now. Your team would be safe and you wouldn't have a hole in your leg. When your taken by surprise and the attacker's just want your cargo you heave to. AND YOU GIVE THEM THE SODDING CARGO"!! Jess shouted. "THAT'S HOW IT'S DONE IN SPACE! THAT'S HOW YOU COULD HAVE PLAYED IT! INSTEAD YOU BITCHES ATTACKED US! NEARLY KILLED US WITH THAT EXPLOSION OF YOURS!!! AND SET US ON A PATH WHERE WE NEARLY KILLED YOU"!!!

Jess teeth snapped together as she tried to find a centre of calm to tap. "We had everything planned. No casualties. Fast and painless. We spared everyone on that train and your explosion may have just killed everyone in the back carriage. if it came loose and fell off that gorge. You were the one's who rigged the explosion going off..... This.... is all..... on you"!

With that Jess turned and stormed off. Disgusted at the sight of her unknown prisoner as Elara moved in to claim her.

"Hey, Vayne! I'm not the enemy here. What's this down on the ground hands behind my back sh*t, ya bloody galah?" Irina said while cooperating. "I thought we were friends. Just because I know these fine folk, and they are fine, doesn't make me the enemy." She was now face down with her hands behind her back.

"You say that to all the girls, Irina." Jenus laughed, "Hey, ow!" Vayne tighted the zip-tie.

"Besides, we're all protected by Androkan. If anyone is going to get a ferret stuck up his clacker it's him." Irina continued.

"I wish I knew what the hell she was saying half the time." Iole said, "but they sound damned funny. Hey, easy with those restraints, Krogan."

Mira just kept her mouth shut.

A couple of the normal combat medics hovered around the wounded Asari as well since they had learned that leaving Elara with a new thing often leant itself to unintended consequences. "The wound is deep but clean. It should recover well once medigel is applied with a dissolving agent so we don't need to worry about retrieving an injection device." The first medic and the second nodded to each other. And Elara made a pouting face before allowing them to cart off the Asari. One of the men stayed behind for a moment to ask Eteon something but she waved him off. She'd see the Asari when her leg was healed. He nodded and ran to catch up with the other medical professionals.

Tallis felt like her head was pounding. Even though she didn't get hit on the head.

Sometimes voices popped out of Tallis' mouth that she didn't recognize. It happened. She had a condition.

Usually, Tallis kept her words simple. And repeated them twice for good measure. She wanted to make sure people heard what she was saying.

The human lady was really angry. Maybe. Or sometimes if she was a krogan, Tallis knew that would mean she was in heat. But basically she was least familiar with humans. This one probably was actually angry. Maybe.

Vayne looked to irina, a sort of dinosaur like coldness to him as he spoke, "I'll feel bad about this when I don't have voices telling me to do....things to you." He said, eye almost rolling into his skull as it became clear, he really was trying to fight off going into a blood rage. "But right now...." he began, taking in a deep breath as he slammed his fist near her head, sending cracks along some of the rock below it, "You stay with them...and they keep you safe." he said before getting up, walking to the others and not even speaking to them at that point.

When they were restrained, vayne walked off. He didn't care where, he just needed to go right now. He walked behind a rather sizeable boulder. There was nothing but silence for a few seconds before the whole thing came down, vayne pushing it over as he started to punch the boulder repeatedly, each time causing a larger crack, the shield generators on his fists forming improvised enfrocement gaunlts to increase his punches more and more.

One of the amagirs came out, bending down to pick up irina as he started to load them. "Krogan...thank the spirits he didn't go berserk in here." He commented, disgust in his voice as vayne continud to pound the rock into small, tiny pebble sized pieces in rage, not making a sound as he did so.

"No ****. I'm glad he hit the rock and not my skull." Irina said.

"There are other commandos on the train, and the engineer and fireman. I need to inform them of the surrender," Mira said. "They're to be taken aboard your ship as well. Orders from Xanthe Remi."

The armiger nodded.

Mira was still looking up. She had seen the aircar pick off Tallis mid air. Iole and Jenus had seen it, too.

Zip-ties now restraining them, Mira simply shook her head.

"They're young," Iole said. "Younger. Well, except for the krogan. They don't have the patience."

"Come on, krogan," Jenus sympathized. "No hard feelings. You won today."

Then Jenus looked around at the Silaris armor strewn across the chasm floor.

"Kind of."

Vayne's eye snapped up at the commandos as he stompped over the rubble, stopping above them as he spoke.

"We have an army of mindraped humans, whose skins been replaced by an armored shell, barreling accross this planet..." he said getting closer and closer to jenus as he spoke, "Victims of a plot by the collectors to turn an entire race into drones for whatever sick plans they have. They're coming and nearly unkillable, and there is now not enough time for us to get the armor we need to take on the collectors, and no way we can do so without the mountain and months, possibly years, of council bureaucratic hell this will be..." He stopped as he pounded the earth near her, now kneeling above her as he spoke.

"Meanwhile the collectors, the same ones who killed by brother and my clan, and ripped out their oragns while all I could do was watch, are still free and unchallenged! And now I have to watch, again, as every second we don't have silas armor, we're helpless as more and more humans are killed or worse, made into the monsters ravaging this world and turn against their own..." he stopped, breathing heavily as he looked her in the eye.

"How the **** do you think I've won?" He asks finally as he stands up slowly, walking over towards the ship as he takes a seat. Head held low as he sulks in the back of his shuttle, wordlessly.

Morgan went with Dahlia to help secure the other asari on the train cars.  They were still knocked out.  Whatever was in those rigs was potent.

Zip-ties were part of Morgan's standard gear, but he only had three.  He called to one of the Armigers to bring him more.

As he worked tying down the asari with Eteon while Dahlia covered them, Morgan said to no one in particular.  "Are the plates a lost cause?  I need to catch up with Jess.  And she's not the only one who's ticked off."

Vayne heard the comms, "The plates are scattered...we'd have to load each individual plate, by hand, and transport them via shuttle one load at a time..." he said spitefully, "How much time do we have?"

Denial was one of Jenus' defense mechanisms.  Maybe her most prominent.  Having a one ton krogan who could break her face turned Jenus' insides to jelly.  But she didn't understand much of what he was ranting about, and she understood that warriors went through stress.

When the krogan wandered off, Jenus stared after him.  "Come on.  Don't be mad."  It didn't look like it was working.  Jenus didn't know what to do.

Mira whispered to her, "Leave him alone.  I'm sure we'll find out what's going on later."

"Hey, Jenus, what the f*** did you have rigged in that car?" Irina asked.

"Four rockets from Bam Bam." Iole interrupted.

"And I guess Bam Bam is...." Irina said.

"Gone." Iole had a sad look on her face. "I was looking forward to firing it."

"Iole, you'd fire it at me? Come on. Not really. After all the sh** we've done?" Irina said.

"We'll I'll have to think about it." Iole said with a smirk.

"Hey, we're professionals and we have jobs to do." Mira said.

"Textbrain, this is Irina. She's different. She's like one of us." Jenus said, "I gotta admit when I heard your voice up there I started thinking about some things we did."

"Things down here in this canyon?" Iole said.

"Oh yeah," Jenus said.

"Hey, remember we're zip-tied and prisoners now?" Mira said.

"Textbrain, am I in a zip-tie? Yes?" Irina said. "Then I'm not exactly being looked at as one of the Audron team at the moment, am I?"

"Not enough." Eteon replied to both of them as she hauled an Asari who was already bound onto the top of the train for an Armiger to take into the Audron. "If my history serves me right this will be treated as a plague condition with no cure. The Colony will be marked lost and orbital bombardments will begin once necessary personnel are off-site." She walked back into the car to grab another Asari before throwing the unconscious over a shoulder. "They will wait a certain amount of time for us to get off-planet but when it comes down to it they will have to bomb this place from orbit. A lost planet no longer has treaties bound to it for ordinance. They could force a meteor if they needed to for a cataclysmic blast if they wanted."

She waited for the Armiger to return before passing the Asari up. "So we have minutes. We'll be hailed and given a one minute exfil limit. If we aren't out of the kill-range of whatever they are launching we will be dead."

"Wait, no, hold on," Jenus said, "It can't have been this canyon.  I think we did a thirty meter bungee jump.  This was fifteen hundred meters."

"Maybe you were ths s**tfaced one," Iole said.

"Maybe," Jenus said, "But it doesn't matter..." She then leered at Irina with a huge grin, "Because I remember the important parts."

Mira looked over at Irina.  "You put yourself there, you know.  I mean, well, it's kind of nice to have you around again.  Even if your are out of your skull."

Morgan said to Eteon, "Well, I had hope.  The asari don't understand what's going on.  We do.  Maybe there's a chance we can have this cleared up once the two Spectres have to face the music."

"Maybe we should stay...." Vayne said softly to himself, off the comms as he heard eteons message, "Fight off the monsters...let the bombardment just blast us to atomized dust..." he said as he got up and walked out of the shuttle, walking a short distance.

He returned with frank drapped over his shoulder, as he walked back towards the seat he had, and plopped the human down next to him, adjusting his neck and body to comfortably lean against the wall before going back to his sulking.

Jess sat back against the back bulkhead of the hanger wall.

She wished Anika was here.

Anger mixed with loathing and contempt filled her as she thought of the Asari setting off the explosives.

It had been simple and straightforward. And had the Asari done as they were told.... they'd all be taking their seperate ways right now. Only instead they'd nearly killed her team.

Explosives....... What had possessed them? They'd destroyed their own property. Maybe damaged the armour they were set to protect. Possibly damaged the rail bridge. Put their own lives at risk. And for what? Nothing had changed. Aelias was still broadcasting and the armour was now their's apparently....

Military pride..... Sodding pride and having the last laugh like a bunch of sodding school children playing one up manship. If any of her team ahd died they wouldn't have cared. Sure, they'd plucked out the one's they had.... but what if other's had been blown to far for them to reach? Grav chutes weren't rocket packs.... it.... it.....

Somewhere along the lines her thought's turned to her baby brother. He'd been fine. Walking on his own. Smiling. Looking at the world through innocent eye's.

Then the runner came which wasn't completely unusual... except she had seen.... there in his face.... desperation. Fear mixed with hope as his face stood out deathly pale.....

Then two shot's and her baby brother would remain just that forever more.... her baby brother... fixed only in a memory of a Spectre who had ignored the risks to everyone around him just so he could go to where ever Spectre's went to be patted on the back and praised and backslapped.

The sidewalk where the shooting took place meanwhile had gained two chalk marks.

The Commando's were no different from the Spectre. They'd ignored everyone and everything but their duty. That Ethereal concept that made people go against their better judgement. What the Asari had done benefitted no one but earn them bragging rights. Taken by surprise? The pride of the Asari commando core resisted. That wuold be the story. Never mind they were getting what they came for and the Asari resistance had gained them exactly jack ****.

Jess could have died. The team could have died. The bloody Asari commando's could have died except she'd bet they'd be laughing and sharing funnies and it was wrong and was Aelias co-ordinating getting back their mount's and why was she crying about the brother and.....

Medusa...... She needed to get back to her ship. No more people trying to tell her the wrong thing to do not more bloody military mindset madness.... She needed off. And she'd earned it. she knew. Next stop, she was gone. Just gone. Let this group sort out the collector's themselves. It was crazy. Fighting each other when the planet was being over run by Aspirant's. And the armour was probably ruined.....

She looked up. Septimus stood there with a tablet held out in front of him. "Got some crate's for you from the Medusa". He drawled, "Gotta say.... I don't usually go out on missions.... That was a blast".

Jess was glad she still had her helmet on because if looks could kill..... He'd had fun? Jess snatched the tablet and signed for her crates. Wondering what they might be as she handed it back and rallied herself. She had to stay focused and in control. She might not be the captain of this ship... but she was still a captain and responsible for everyone as if she were.... or so she'd like to think. Pirate's life for me, she thought as she stood and made her way to the crates.

He watched the asari get loaded into the large shuttle, the doors closing as they prepared for take off, and sat still as they felt themselves rising from the casam and returning to the audron. Empty handed, say for their new guests, and eager to get away from this doomed world.

"Well, in this situation we can only destroy the colony. Anyone who can't get off-planet is dead so it is not a case of whether or not we kill people. It's a case of them already being dead." Eteon didn't hear anything from Vayne so she assumed he was loading the Asari. "Right now to stem the tide the best chance we have is to make sure these Aspirants don't make it off this rock."

She lifted the last Asari out of the first car and hailed Vayne. "You're quiet." She stated the obvious because it was the only way to break through. For some reason the silence from him was thick, maybe from the tone in his voice. "Are you on your way up? If you are the Turians will take the commandos, you find something on-board to do. Jess is probably angry and maybe someone who feels the same can get by her?"

Irina laughed and bumped Mira. "And I really have your 50 credits, but you know I think I'll keep 'em. They'll give us an excuse to bug each other, not that we need one. Yeah, I missed you guys." And she looked over at Vayne and turned to Jenus.

"Ah coming down from bloodrage. You know Krogan go from way high on the blood rage and they crash. That crash is nasty. He'll come out of it in about an hour." Irina said. "Best to just leave him alone right now."

"....okay." Vayne said simply, as his shuttle came into the audron and began to dock int he shuttle bay. The doors opened and the turians came to take their prisoners, and vayne just kept sitting where he was, head downcast and eye dull and lifeless.

He looked to irina, regret evident as she was brought up, about to be loaded with the others. "Leave her..." vayne said simply, the turians pausing to look at the krogan, "Cut her ties...and take him to medical." he said, pointing to the unconscious frank.

As Jess walked past Elara she poked her. "Luv.... you should get back to medical and take care of our guest".

Elara pouted. "I would but the other's won't let me"!

Jess chewed her lip. "You said you were looking for volunteer's for your experiment's right? Wouldn't they do"?

Elara thought about it.... then her eye's lit up. "They may be..... I've been looking for a couple of males....".

"Just do me a favour. Aelias says the other Asari are coming aboard. Put them under. They broke my trust and I want them all in la-la land and then they get to stay there for the whole damn trip. Hell know's what they'll try and pull if we give them an inch".

Elara blinked and the twinkel in her eye faded. "Aren't you being a bit harsh with them"?

"Luv.... If you knew how I felt right now.... you'd know this is a small mercy from me to them. People die in custody sometimes right"?

"Ummmmm...... If we're talking about my track record.... Not for four years now".

Jess sighed. "Like I said.... a small mercy. Just try and make it so I don't see them. Taking them out is doing the galactic gene pool a favour". With that, Jess walked over to the crates across from where she had come.

She looked around and located the release lever. What on Earth could Oda be sending me?

Jess pulled the release lever as she pulled her helmet off and ruffled her hair.

The crate she'd selected opened.

The sight was one she'd never forget.

The smell was putrid.

The flies only made it all worse.

The sounds of the busy bay ceased to be as she became aware only of her own breathing as a hand rested on the crates side. Perhap's she'd put it there. She didn't remember putting it there. Her leg's were weak. Maybe her body was reacting on it's own? Keeping her up even as she felt her mouth begin to fill with acid bile. She swallowed but that only made it worse as her mind refused to accept what she was seeing.

Body trembling, she reached forward and took one of the many things..... in her armoured hands and held it up as if seeing it inteh Audron's bay light's would reveal it to be a gag....

Oda couldn't have sent this...... She knew......

Because it was Oda's..... head..... in her hands.

And assorted part's of him and the Medusa's crew in the crate.

Her hands came apart as she realised what she was holding and it thumped into the dismembered body parts throwing up more flies. She looked to the other crates. Not wanting to but knowing she had to open them as she went around and found them all filled with the same till she came to the last and as the crate opened something large, scaely and green moved inside and looked up at Jess.

Mr Bojangles. Anika's pet Gecko. Bloody but on the surface unharmed. Jess scooped him up. Not wanting anything living that was part of her life mingled with these... these....

Oh god.... Her crew was dead. They were all dead. Someone had killed them. Dismembered them and packaged them! Sent them to her! A package of her crew's dismembered corpses from her ship! Her ship! Now without a crew because here they were all dead and flies were still coming out and the buzzing was to loud and.....

Staring straight ahead. Jess turned... very slowly. And walked towards the lift. Her intended destination her cabin.

Who knew... she thought I might even end up there.
