((A little while earlier))

Vayne and essul left their rooms around the same time, vayne having enjoyed the moment to simply sit down and recenter himself, watch some tv, and actually relax with some privacy, and essul spending the time working on his data decoding. The two spotted each other on their ways to the conferance room, walking in silence as vayne regarded the batarain.

"So...SIU huh?" The krogan asked as the two kept walking, essul looking to vayne curiously as he walked.

"Yes." Was essuls simple reply, vayne giving a breif chuckle as he kept walking ahead.

"Guess I should have known with that cover story of yours. Seems c-sec had the right idea of who to look at for once." He said as essul closed his eyes, a small scowl on his face.

"Indeed. They managed to sniff out an SIU agent, and a mass murdering pirate, and let them both go." Essul said as vayne stopped dead in his tracks, eye fixed on essul.

"What did you just-" Vayne began before essul turned on his heels, not looking at all amused.

"The hegemony takes its protection very seriously, and makes sure anyone venturing outside of space knows what, or who, they could encounter..." Essul said bluntly as he looked to vayne, "I know about you, as both Sangar and Vayne. And allow me to give you a piece of advice." his 4 eyes narrowing with the words he spoke.

"Those in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones." And with that essul left for the conference room, vayne standing in the hallway as he watched the batarian leave. Vayne shuddered to himself, a small scowl forming on his face. He'd have to watch that man, and make sure he never had his back to the guy without a gun at the ready.

"Oh well..." he muttered to himself, "At least I know where I stand with him."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vayne did not like this plan. Vayne really didn't like this plan and it showed on his face.

"So we're not just going to **** with STG, but we're going in to **** with a spectre ring leader with strong ties to STG." Vayne said out loud, wanting to make sure he'd gotten the information down as he shock his head.

"Do we know if there haven't been any copies of the data made? If this goes as high up as you say, they may have prepared for a smash and frag, as it were." He said, referring to breaking in and destroying data.

"If that's the case, more drastic measures can be taken." Essul said simply, vayne looking to the batarian uncertainly as he spoke to the group, "Destroying the data, as well as any physical evidence, most preferably to make it look accidental, could be what we need to do..."

He said before his eyes looked to naleena, "If I may be so bold though...what do you plan to do, once we've cleared you of this crime. Surely you can't think STG will simply stop trying to pursue justice against you because you took away their evidence?"

Both looked to jess as she spoke, seeing the large amount of toys, "What tracker?" Vayne finally asked, essul still a bit too dumbfounded to form words.

Morgan was listening.  He really was.

Of course, that was as he furrowed his brow looking at a conference room that seemed more like a bankers meeting than a Spectre’s, or a criminals for that matter.  There were donuts, there were toys…in fact he had his hands on one of the stuffed animals as he searched its fluffy innards.  And of course, there was that white jacket just staring him in the face with its…white jacketness.  Now it was as if two sides of his mind were arguing about it.

The jacket doesn’t look so bad on you.  It’s just a different style.

Stop it!

“Vayne brings up a good point, although this doesn’t sound like there’s much of a choice, right Naleena?  It could have been copied, but the more something is copied, the more likely it can be compromised or leaked.  Maybe the data is localized, maybe it is limited in its distribution and if it is, maybe we’ll find out where when we look into it.  Of course that could all be wrong and the data could be out there.  Not that I’m an expert on these things, but really, what you probably want to do is get some virus installed on a computer that hunts the data down and destroys it wherever it finds it.  Get it into the STG computers, knowing of course they probably have some of the best anti-virus software in existence.  That could be a long-term goal.  You’ll need to find a top of the line programmer to do that.”

Morgan looked up at Naleena, taking his eyes off a stuffed pyjak for a moment.  “Of course, it would be a lot easier to negotiate with Sao, wouldn’t it?  He’s the source of your problem currently.  I wouldn’t know the first thing to say him, but maybe you would, Naleena.”

Frank shrugged, and picked up one of the stuffed toys.  "Cute."  He smiled, before tearing its head off.

This is going to take forever. There has to be a faster way.

"I don't think we have to tear through all of these." He slid his goggles down over his eyes, and began sifting through the pile. "should be able to see it."

He briefly looked up, and nodded. "That sounds like our best bet, Morgan. The loss of thousands outweigh the loss of a single operative, surely Sao can see the reasoning behind that."

Naleena turned to Essul. "The way my source described it, it sounded like the case had just been reopened. Sao may have just been handed the case. In any event, it is early on in the investigation.

Dahlia spoke up. "Destroying the data on the police computer shouldn't be selective. We should delete the files we need to delete and follow up with a cyber attack on the system, and have that wipe other data to cover our tracks. I don't know how to do that, but perhaps someone better trained would."

"Good idea, Dahlia." Naleena said.

"Morgan, I'm expecting that Sao has an alarm system we're going to trip. Being a Spectre, he'll come alone. He won't expect to find another Spectre inside." Naleena replied, "I'm hoping that we can speak with him. This is not a matter I can walk in the front door during the day and make it an official matter, you understand. We Spectres do what is necessary to get the job done. He is a Spectre first, and STG second. His loyalty is to the Council first. He took the same oath I did, and is bound by the same rules. His office is Council Space."

Jess sighed. "I don't know. I never got a description". She said as she started on another. This one with six legs and the head of what looked to her like a flattened out hippo head. "All I know is a K&Q man hid it because someone was after him. You can ask him yourself if you have a spirit medium. Howse died on me. Sniper round that took his head off. It's not related to this assignment but it's a thing.... An important thing. Just feel for something hard and you've probably found it. There aren't that many".

At that moment the doors banged open and Anika came in wheeling another stack of crates into the conference room.

"Just another four hundred and ninety nine to go".

Anika dropped off the next load and cracked open the crates. "Are you talking about the Salarian who took the case"?

"Not in so many words".

"News feed in reception says a skycar exploded and found a body".

Jess rolled her eye's. "Probably a badly maintained fusion core. Shotgun mechanics".

Irina looked up at Jess and all of the crates, "You've got to be sh*tting me."

"Isn't there a way we could scan for this chip, Jess?" Dahlia asked.

"Hm?" Frank's concentration was momentarily broken with the mention of his name.  "Oh. Yeah. Making progress." He tapped at his goggles. "These are more effective when dealing with larger signatures, something this small is still going to be a pain in the ass. I should still be able to see it, if I bring them close enough."

He shoved an armful of up to his face. "Nothin'." He mumbled, his voice muffled by the toys. "There are just so many of them... I can't keep track."

Frank examined another handful. "I have an idea." He held the toys in the palm of his right hand. And activated his omni-tool. With a flash, they turned to gray dust. "There. Now I won't accidentally search them twice." He shook away the ashes, before scooping up another handful. "Too bad we couldn't just do that for the whole box, amirite?"

"Like yourself, I've had a share of alias in the past." Avan crossed his arms as he acknowledged Naleena's history. "Plus my share of clashes with STG. They're an odd sort. Shoot first, do research and feces analysis later. Rather admirable, to be honest."

He stood up and traced the ground with his foot. "We should use basic names. Nothing extreme. Basic names like John, Bob, etcetera. The police force will be upset by all of what we're doing. Stealing evidence and making them look like fools. They will waste their time cyphering through hundreds of Johns and Bobs, even interviewing anyone with those names that live near by. It's a good time waster for them that'll add to the ease of covering our eventual tracks. I say eventual because this hasn't happened yet, and well, I've never worked with any of you before. Nothing should go wrong...but it always can."

"I was kinda hoping for something cool..." Frank frowned, still focused on the task at hand. "Something like... like, uh..." He stopped to think for a moment, before shaking his head. "Never mind. You're probably right. Basic names would be best."

"Don't get me wrong, Frank. Name yourself whatever you please. It was merely a suggestion." Avan frowned and felt a bit embarrassed. "After all, we are on Illium. Worst case scenario is we bribe them off of our asses. That was a joke. Let's not have it come to that."

"Call me Ishmael..." Essul said bluntly, thinking of the name of the boys he'd been trained alongside in the arena. He didn't have the same tattoos to come close to matching Ishmaels, but seeing how Ishmael was dead, he doubted the other would care about him borrowing the name.

"Call me...Ganar. Jut ganar." Vayne said with a small smile playing on his face, knowing the name would bring some trouble down on the blood pack, which to him was just a-okay.

"Pffft. Ishmael." Frank snickered. He caught a faint scowl from Essul, and threw his hands up in a disarming manner. " I mean... good one, buddy.  That's a great alias.

"I wanna be..." He stopped, as he looked into another batch of toys.  He threw all but one of them aside, and held it close to his eye, then far away, then close once more. "I think I found it." Frank tossed the stuffed creature to Jess.  "What about the rest of 'em?"

Jess caught the stuffed animal and felt inside. Sure enough, something hard was in there..... but the thing flexed slightly in her hands. Pulling open the toy Jess reached inside and pulled out a packet of something brick shaped and red. Jess looked at the package of red sand in her palm and blinked. "Ooooookay"? She looked over to the crate where Frank had gotten the toy from and dug inside, pulling another one out, opening it up.....

Another brick of sand greeted her as she pulled it out of the toys body.

"........ Guy's? What's the sentence for possession of an illegal substance? Because I think we have a crateful of sand being smuggled on world". She sighed. "Okay, it's fine. This is fine. We just leave it in the crate, make sure the scanner isn't in it, then seal it back up and get it to the Jeniri. We can organise disposal afterwards".

Jess turned to look at Dahlia. "Like I said, I don't know what kind of tracker it is. Could be a good one, could be one that a scan would knock out if Howse went for a cheap one.". Looking over at Frank she shrugged. "Not bothered about the toys in themselves luv. If you like the look of one keep it? Take one for your children or nephews? Figure out how to use them for the next assignment? The possibilities are..... theeere"?

With that Jess turned and began to rummage through the crate. Thinking to herself that whoever had filled this crate would probably come looking for it soon. There was probably five million credit's worth of sand by her guess.

Naleena smiled. "Red Sand is legal on Illium. Keep it. We can probably use it for trade. You know, for information or weapons mods."

"But Avan's right. Names that have no meaning. Not even racial or gender except where needed," Naleena said and she tapped her omni-tool. "Distraction team one is solo. Mira will be Ed. Distraction team two. Irina you're Jane Fonda. Anika you're Gina Davis. Jess, you're Diana Rigg. Evidence room: John, Bob, and Dutch. Server room: Mike, Fred, and Chuck. My team: Vayne, I know you really don't want a part of this so you're driving. George, Mark and I'll just be Boss."

Dahlia complained. "They're all men's names, and human names."

"That's right, Dahlia. That way it's simple for us, and they have to figure it out," Naleena replied.

Naleena tapped her omni-tool again and sent for the four commandos.

Jess raised her head up out of the crate. "Dahlia's got a point. Kinda strange for a group of people to walk around with human names. If anyone comment's just say the humans have trouble with your real name. Or that it's an nickname given to you. Which is good because technically, you were given a nick name just now". Jess finished with the crate and satisifed the tracker wasn't in it, sealed it back up after stuffing the sand back into the two toys she'd found. Then she placed both hands to lean on the crates and sighed.

"Look, no offence Naleena, but drugs is one thing I don't haul on principal. And this....". She rapped her knuckle's on the crate lid. ".... This has bad news written all over it. I didn't expect to find something with this much value attached. Someone's going to come looking for it and getting all these crates? Well.... if I'd known I would have used a better method of getting them. We have time, but as soon as the Jeniri's been upgraded we should go". She snorted. "Heck, I was planning on lying low on world. Funny how the galaxy throws things at you".

Jess turned and cracked open another crate and over turned it onto the floor as she started pulling apart more of the stuffed toys. "About the plan luv. I've got no issue with being a distraction. But the teams that infiltrate? Here's the thing. Why sneak in when when you can get the ones we're trying to trick to co-operate in the trick? These places outsource the services they don't need much. System engineers, vending machine repair. That sort of thing. If there's a problem they put in a call and expect someone to turn up and fix it. If we can sneak someone in to create a problem that they'll issue a callout for we can intercept that call and send in one of our teams. Have them escort us through the heart of the station right to where we need to be..... or if they don't, we'll be in the station and that's half the battle won".

Something, a bird like creature with two dangling tentacle like appendages lost it's stuffing. "Argh....". She growled as she tossed it to the side. "Frank? Can you see if there's anything else in these things"?

At that moment Anika walked in carrying the last of the crates on the loader. "Did I miss anything"?

"You missed some code name discussion, some talking about the best way for each team to break in, and so far some pastries, though there are plenty left."

"Hold on, let me see that one Frank was looking at."  Morgan picked up the stuffed toy Frank had examined closely, and that Jess had pulled red sand out of.  It was empty, but he studied the face, particularly the glass eyes.  Morgan pulled the eye so it broke away, flipped it around to reveal the glass eyebead was hollowed out, and an electronic device was stuck inside. He slid the eye over to Jess.  "There's your tracker."

With an expression of being half in though while he spoke, Morgan said, "Regarding how we get in, I do agree that if there's a way to trick them into getting in, then why not?  That probably takes a certain gift..." Morgan's expression changed to a subtle slyness as he peered at Jess.  "Also, even though we are split into different teams, the total number of us is fairly large.  And then there are other factors, such as Blue Team having to get to the 10th floor.  Maybe each team should determine it's own method of entry, relying on what they are best at."

The table in front of Morgan was filled with stuffed animals wherever something else hadn't been, like the plate of donuts.  He eyed it; he couldn't remember when he last had a donut.  Morgan reached out for a powdered white one with no center hole, and bit into it.  Powdered sugar coated his face around his mouth, and he could taste the over-sweatened jelly in the center.  The bite took a lot longer to chew than he wanted.  Morgan swore he could feel his teeth hurt and the need to run a mile to burn off the calories as he set the once bitten donut down in front of him.

After gulping the bite down, while searching the room for a drink, Morgan went on.  "Names, code names, as long as we can remember them, and they can't be traced back.  You can use 'Cards' for me, it has nothing that can be proven as a link...well, even if it isn't a standard name."

Morgan asked a question to Naleena, "By the way, isn't that Iole and not Mira coming along?  I thought Iole was the technical expert on that team."

Jess looked at the device in her hand. "Well.... how about that". She looked up. "Thanks luv". She examined the device. Not a tracker, it was to small. But rather, a device to align a device to the signal being put out. "Howse you little..... You could have explained it better". She muttered as she brought up her Omni-tool and synched the device to her tool. A signal scanner ap appeared and it honed in on the signal being put out. "I swear if you weren't dead I'd kill you".

Anika meanshile had pulled out an overstuffed doll clad in wha tlooked to be grey armour of a man with dark felt to convey close cropped hair. Squeezing his middle the doll spoke in an anyman electronc voice.

"Hi, I'm Commander Shepard! And your my best friend on the Citadel"!

Anika rolled her eye's. "Is there ANYTHING that man won't try to make a credit off"?

About a half hour after Naleena contacted them, the commandos arrived dressed in their civvies and carrying duffel bags.

Mira was the first to enter, and she saw the entire team there, and several crates of stuffed toys. "Don't tell me we're going to play 'rip apart stuffed toys?'"

"No, Mira. I need you for a mission," Naleena said, "Come over to the table and take a look at the map,"

Mira called her squad over.

"Iole, you will be working with Essul and Valkara. Your name is Chuck. It means nothing. It's so they can't trace your name back to you." Naleena explained her team's job and what she needed to do, "Find out where they upload their backup files, log in and delete the same files. And after you delete all files pertaining to Shalia Danri and Naleena T'sarius, you should set off a cyber attack on the local system that starts randomly deleting files.

"Mira and Tallis, you'll go to my safe house and make sure it's clear. If it isn't and it's just being used by local homeless, give them some money and tell them to get out. If it's a gang making drugs, extreme prejudice is authorized. The cops won't be arriving.

"Jenus, I've been thinking about this. You're the start of the operation. Buy a throw away communication unit at any store. Just not around here. Your job is to boost a car without setting off an alarm, drive it to this lot, and wire it up with a bomb, then drive it to this location, and set the detonator. Make it somewhat difficult so that it takes them a while. Walk away. Then call in a bomb threat to the police." Naleena said. "That will empty out the police precinct, so get the hell out of there. The police will be so busy keeping people out of the area.

"So that's what the plastic was for." Jenus commented, "Don't worry. I've got this."

"We can handle the safe house," Mira said.

"You'll need this combination to enter." Naleena gave her the combination to the entrance, "And everyone, when you get to the safe house, the pass phrase to enter, and remember this Mira and Tallis, and don't let any group in that doesn't say this - 'The duck quacks at midnight.'"

"Got it." Mira said.

"But does everyone else?" Naleena asked. "It's a pass phrase, that could be anyone at the door."

"But how do we know it's Mira inside?" Irina asked.

"That's a valid question." Dahlia remarked.

"Alright. Mira will reply, 'That hardly seems fair.'" Naleena replied.

"But that's nonsense." Dahlia remarked again.

"Exactly." Naleena said and she turned to the commandos. "So how did you get here."

"We brought a shuttle." Iole said.

"Perfect. The server infiltration team will need it," Naleena said, "Iole, you can remote pilot it, right?"

"For short distances, yes, and I brought ropes and grappling hooks like you asked, and the other equipment." Iole replied.

Naleena passed out the ear pieces to the humans, and mastoid micro receivers to the others. "These microcommunicators won't be detected and operate on military frequencies. The police won't have them. So we'll need three cars. Frank check them for trackers and disable them. Mira will drop off Jenus downtown, then take her team to the safehouse. Jess, you'll lead your team, and you'll probably be spending the night in a cell. If all goes well, I'll bail you out in the morning. If not, Mira will bail you out. If there are no questions, let's do this."

"I'm John." Eteon repeated to herself before memorizing the other human names. Dutch and Bob. Dutch and Bob. An infiltration job seemed a nice change of pace and would give her an excuse to put her Cabal armor on. Non-lethal takedown preferred was also going to be a bit interesting.

She wasn't sure if she liked what they were doing on the whole -butting heads with spectres had thus far caused at least one incident- but she would deal with it. She wasn't with Deidrus when he recruited Naleena so she didn't know what exactly the Asari had done. Hopefully nothing drastic which would make reason for pause later on. Even if it is, there is no way we can waste more time than necessary. The collectors are still out there.

Iole counted to herself for a minute as she listened to the plan.  When Naleena mentioned the words ‘cyber-attack’ she looked nervous and about to ask a question, then Jenus put a hand on her shoulder .  Jenus shook her head, and Iole became silent.

Mira was very attentive, but looked concerned when Naleena mentioned the words ‘extreme prejuduce’.  She thought to herself a minute, looked at Tallis who in turn shrugged, and then said nothing.

Jenus was listening without worry at all until Naleena said the words ‘wire it’, at which point Jenus looked at her a bit sideways.  Then Naleena said the words ‘Make it someone difficult’, at which point Jenus looked at her a bit with the other side.  When Naleena was done, Jenus responded confidently and the discussion occurred about the pass phrases happened.

Finally, Naleena was talking about having Jenus bailed out.  Jenus raised one brow, then the other, then the commando team all looked at each other.  Then they looked at the entire group in the room.

Jenus said, “Don’t worry about a thing.”

"What kind of name is fred?" Essul asked to himself a bit baffled, "It's like someone tried to spell Fraeg, and had a momentary spasm..." he said as his universal translator showed him how 'fred' was spelled. He dismissed the thought as he looked to iole, or chuck as it were.

'Poor, poor, asari...' Essul thought as he approached her, tilting his head in greeting, "So it would appear we will be infiltrating through vents...how pleasant." he commented as he looked her over curiosuly, "How experienced are you with infiltration via environmental system?" he asked, wanting to know how skilled a partner he'd been given.

Vayne meanwhile looked to Naleena as he gave a small sigh of relief, "Thanks for making me the driver..." He said to her sincerely, feeling a bit better about this mission, "There's a lot on this planet that could come to bite me in the tail, but I'll do my best to help..." he said as he gave a small laugh, "Besides, least I get to wear a mask, so that aught to help keep my identity at least a bit more concealed."
