If I don't want to metagame and I don't choose to actively flirt with everyone I don't know their orientation outside of Isabella, those only come out if you flirt with them actively.

So then you should have no problem with the way that romances got rolled out, right?  You clearly don't want to metagame, so why does it matter if the characters in other players' games act differently?  It should only matter what the characters do when you play your game.

Sexual diversity can be present among the non-romanceable characters, of which there will be dozens, if not over a hundred.

And for what reason can't they be romanceable?

My point in posting my real life experiences with *real* issues I faced due to being openly lesbian (I now identify as bisexual, but not at the time of those incidents) was that I am well aware that there are much more serious issues facing the LGBT community, but I still care about having fun when I play a video game, which is why I continue to post in suggestion threads like this one.

Serious question, why are you trying to get this thread locked?  If you don't care about this issue, why is shutting down discussion important to you?

Why are you implying I'm trying to get it locked?  I'm arguing, I've been arguing.

I don't play "yaoi games" and I never did. Prior to Saints Row IV, which I purchased without knowing about it's same-sex romance feature, Bioware games were the only titles I played that offered such an option.

Bulcrap, the "romance" of SRIV was well known and that fact that you had just happen to pick it up is the same story Plantiff made.

So hey Plantiff, why did you come back to this site after you insulted the devs and such when you got permabanned on the BSN?

Shhh! He's just as bad as hiding his identity as Bavid, we don't want him to get permabanned so soon!

So when was the last time you posted about the topic of this thread?  Yeah, it's definitely the people who like romances who are the obsessed ones who get threads locked.....  Thank you for coming here to expose a poster as another poster, citizen.  Where would this conversation be without you....?

Because then you can have a fully fleshed out world with a wide array of orientations and representations without limiting the real world orientations and capabilities of players.

I picked up Saints Row IV b/c I wanted to be a superhero. Had no idea about the romance feature. It's not implausible. Just because we like to chat about Bioware games online doesn't mean everyone who does keeps tabs on the news surrounding every game they have ever purchased.

Touché. Less gab, more stab I say! (not really)

BTW, I really hate to say this, but if the DA games were to be All About Combat ™, most of the mods we see here, like David Gaider, Sheryl Chee, and Mary Kirby, would be fired, since they all are writers

Then it would only have a combat design team. They also could get rid of all that useless crap about writing lore, backstories, backgrounds, novels/comics and "auxiliary" literature, and branching narratives for their games, and sit down and focus on Making Stuff Blow Up Real Goood ™.

I know it's not your position, but this may be one case where your preference for terse sarcasm over pure explication prevents me from knowing what your actual position is.

Mine is that more than cinematics or combat, dialogue defines a modern CRPG, so much so that I don't know of a modern CRPG game that would not have it, regardless of studio, platform, or genre.

Although none of the gifs I've seen so far have been straight up bannable/offensive, you know very well that spamming gifs gets threads locked down.

You said this thread needs obnoxious Miley Cyrus gifs.  Why would I believe you care about this issue?  And again, why do you want to stop discussion?

You know how I keep talking about immersion? I want the characters to be a bit more defined a bit less like silly putty for me to sculpt to my whims.

I've said this before, but my problem isn't with the idea of straight players preferring for the romanceable characters to have a variety of set sexual orientations. What does frustrate me is seeing people express the attitude that "Why would anyone care about which NPCs their character can have a gay romance with? Those people are just looking for something to be offended about."

LGBT players don't have a huge selection of games to choose from that feature gay romance in any form (let alone the opportunity to play as a gay or bisexual hero), so it's not hard for me to understand why there are people who would be disappointed if some of the available romances in DA:I were exclusively straight (even if other romances were available to both genders or exclusively gay) – and I don't think that a bit of empathy for why people might feel that way should be too much to ask.

This is a really great post and you bring up some really nice points.  For me, playersexuality (although I'm still not convinced that we've actually seen true playersexuality yet), isn't the right way to go to make sure that gay and lesbian players get multiple romance options.  I'd rather them expand some resources and add an LI for each gender.

Because the thread does.

And I care for reasons that won't matter to you.  If I wanted to stop the discussion, I would report it, not continuously keep arguing and making sure the discussion is kept.  I've said my perspective on the issue.

I didn't know anything about SRIV prior to pre-ordering it, except the vague basics of the plot, and the fact that it was initially refused classification in my country for several reasons.
