He is pretty stupid but I COMPLETELY understand his rage about Loghain. My HN would probably be **** you and the horse you rode in on if he/she was forced to work with Howe. I really can't get over how ridiculous it is to recruit Loghain as soon as Alistair tells you he's leaving if you do. Assuming the best case scenario you know have the same exact number of wardens you started witih. Assuming the worse you have less. Even my douchecanoe Wardens put up with Alistair's fit because Loghain simply wasn't worth losing a proven asset.

On your point about the hypothetical of Howe, I'd have to agree. In the Human Noble's position, I would have been uncompromising in having Howe's head roll, and the Maker itself would have no way of convincing me otherwise.

*stares*

Are you seriously suggesting Mass Effect wasn't a power fantasy in regards to the romances? Pretty much every young female Shepard knows wants to throw her panties at him. How is that NOT a power fantasy? The one sole exception in ME3 is Samantha. Full stop. Even Samara goes she'd throw you down and ride you like a damn rodeo if she was younger.

That's not a player sexuality issue that's a way the Lis are written issue.

Samara only says that if you have a certain paragon score iirc, she never..propositioned me....

The only one who really tosses themselves at you is Liara.

Miranda doesn't think it can work since she anticipates everyone dying, Jack tries damned hard to push you away, and Ashley has her personality.

I guess Tali would also count with Liara

Also note, I did not say that Mass Effect was a perfect example of what I want to see, it merely had a situation that I think is worth mentioning.

That doesn't really make it better -_-

Shepard has far more people hitting on him than Hawke ever does. Yet somehow Hawke gets all the complaints. It's utterly baffling.

You didn't get propositioned by Tali or Jack? Cause I did. Completely unavoidable too. Miranda's took some damn mauevering before I realized the middle choice was the friendship one (the one where you tell her "That's a tough feeling to live with maybe you'll feel better later." that ends the convo early instead of comforting her both those choices lead to her wanting the D. Yay. ) Shiara, That green chick as well. Unavoidable with Shep having that stupid doopy look on his ****** face that made me wanna slap him.

Also Ashley's goddamn ninjamancing in ME1 had me use a damn nuke to get the hell away from her.

But...ME's more of a example of power fantasies affecting the romances than DA2 is...so I really don't get what you're trying to say...

The asari as a race are pretty much blue skinned alien babe fanservices the Tali and Garrus romances were put in the game because of fanservice (so were Samantha and Steve). I mean...I just...I'm completely baffled about the complaining of DA2 and then people holding up ME as a good example of how it's done. It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad.

The only ones I had hitting on me were Tali and Liara, and one of them is already supposed to be our canon romance with the writers practically telling us via auto-dialogue that we love Liara.

The romances in ME2 that resist don't resist all that hard. It's just another bit of dialogue to go through and they'll eventually go along. The only one that's difficult is Samara, because it's based on your separate score than whatever reputation you can build through dialogue. If anything, the best rejection (sort of) in the entire trilogy is Mordin's.

I find that player-sexuality for characters makes the PC too important.

When I play a game like DA or ME I'm not playing it to go on a power fantasy and have have the whole world bow to my every whim, that's what TES and shooters are for.  I play these games to experience a world and the characters in them.  In this spirit I think that characters should be immutable in most circumstances, they should have their own personal backstories and beliefs that contribute to their development.

Changing the character's sexuality to suit the whims of the PC is a gross breach of this in my eyes.  I get that people want to be able to experience romances with their favorite characters and with their favored PC set-up, but I don't think it is worth sacrificing the immersion I can get from meeting characters with different tastes and preferences.

I'll admit, I was pleasantly surprised when Traynor turned down my Shepard, I didn't demand that she be made romanceable.  I found her refusal refreshing actually.  (Not sure if there is a similar scene for FemShep and Cortez)

I also like the idea of an existing character having defined traits instead being made up on the go.

I am not saying that Mass Effect is a perfect example, I'm saying that the scenario with a MaleShep and Traynor is something I'd like to see in DA rather than all the LI's bending over for the Inquisitor.

Shepard may get more offers, but he can't change people's sexual preferences.

And if you say "well neither does Hawke, their sexual preferences just change based on the gender that Hawke is" I'm gonna playthorugh DA:O just so I can kill Alistair.

I think what I said way back on page five or something was that I'd like characters to have preferences if it were possible to do so with the budget and still be fair. But after following the thread I've decided I'd like it more (if it were an either/or situation) for attraction to be based on the actions of the player, instead of their gender. I think it was CybAnt, Maria, and a few others who made some good points regarding it.

Jack hits on you automatically, Miranda does as well if you don't take the middle option out (I was trying to be nice. So much for that).

Not even! I picked neutral choices. My guy was a paragade and I still got goddamn ninja'd. It seems oddly the only way to get her to backoff is if you're romancing Liara. O_o

When did Hawke change anyone's sexual preferences. Please tell me I'd dying to hear this. Or are you assuming everyone's straight until they scream at the top of their lungs that they're not? And no saying you want a pretty girl is not declaring straightness it's simply saying you're attracted to women.

Also you can easily have Lis not bending over for the protag with all bi LIs. It's as simple as having them react to your actions something I see many pro playersexual Lis in this thread (including myself) asking for! I'd rather an LI be equally willing to romance my male and female but go ah hell no to my mage who sacrificed innocent elves for 10 damn health points (if they themselves are a "good" companion) than ignore that because she has ovaries and since my male can't romance him that's enough of a restriction. I rather restrictions go towards the main plot maybe some exclusive things for each race and class. I'd get far more mileage out of that then from an LI.

Jack proposes casual sex and resists trying to get close

I agree wholeheartedly, and and made a post supporting actions influencing romances, I'd just also like character preferences to influence romances as well

Did you use the whole "this is not a discussion" choice with the aliens? Because everytime I avoid that line I click something and she's acting like we're together and I'm just stuck going "wut"

Nope not even talking about the casual sex. If you keep going she flat out says "why are you here Shep you got feelings for me" (AND THAT BULLSHIT ****** 2 NOS WHY ARE THEIR TWO ****** NOES WTF WAS BW THINKING MAKING ONE A GODDAMN TRAP) *flips tables*

I'd like character preferences (for the LIs anyway non LIs go crazy, straight, gay, asexual, whatever) to be about character. Maybe have the one night stand have gender preferences if anything but the main Li? No thanks. I rather they be open to everyone at the start and your choices throughout the game close them off to you or makes them receptive.

What's she got that renegade FShep doesn't?  besides blue skin....

One day I may have her alive in ME3, right after I romance Liara, destroy the Collector Base and make peace on Rannoch

I do love the dialogue in that scene though.

"Wait a minute Mordin. You're just yanking me around, aren't you?"

[steps back]"Shocking suggestion! Doctor-patient confidentiality a sacred trust. Would never dream of mockery. Enjoy yourself while possible Shepard. Will be here studying cell reproduction. Much simpler. Less alcohol and mood music required."

@Steelcan: I actually started romancing Liara :X I think I got to Rannoch before the horror of what I was doing set in and I deleted that save. It doesn't exist it doesn't exist *rocks back and forth*

Peace on Rannoch is uber cheese though. (Which is why I tend to get it on my renedouche. He needs some cheese :( )

@KaiserShep: I do love it. It's so Mordin. Perfect quirky little bonding moment. Mordin was just win all around XD
