I'm sure it's not just me, but I'm starting to think we won't find out anything further about the other characters until some time after Patrick Weekes' book, The Masked Empire, comes out. And I wouldn't be surprised if some of our companions are found in that book too.
April 8th can't seem to get here any faster.

I think it would be interesting to see some of the DA:I companions in the book

We are already going to get an Asunder character, and I would really prefer not to see any more book characters.

We've seen teases of the Bald Elf Mage, so I wouldn't be surprised if he pops up sooner than later. And I heard there was also some recent media gathering at Bioware and we may see some new information in the not-too-distant future.
I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see some of the companions/former companions in The Masked Empire: Morrigan, Leliana, Cullen, Cassandra, Vivienne, Sera... maybe even Varric and how and the Seeker teamed up.

Given that Vivienne's character guide lists her title as Enchanter to the Imperial Court, it wouldn't surprise me to see her show up in the book, probably a fairly minor role though

I was under the impression they team up right after the epilogue in DA 2, when the skies start tearing open. I'm not sure where I read that though.

It's at least a logical guess. ![]()

Does anyone know when in the DA timeline The Masked Empire is set? That might give us a better idea of who will be around which places.
I've gathered it's set during the three years between DA2 and Inquisition, but it'd be nice to have a more specific frame.

I don't know when it happens in the timeline, but sometime between DA2 Act 3 and DAI Varric and Isabella go off and have adventures with Alistair.

This is from the Twitter thread. I hope it works.
User: Stoked for The Masked Empire. Is it OK for you to divulge what year it's set in? Kind of a chronology geek.
Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes :
Parallel to Asunder, roughly.
@PatrickWeekes So ... DAII -> DA Asunder, DA The Masked Empire (at the same time) -> DAI?
@IlidanDA That looks right to me.

Crazy idea- That Grey Warden guy companion may be Gaspard de Chalons.

I'm guessing some of the companions might have a small role like Vivienne. However The Masked Empire, will probably just give us some additional backstory for the DA:I story along with some insight into some of the NPC's we may come across like Empress Celene.
That being said - I've got my copy pre-ordered and I can't wait to read it!

I think when they say that, they mean during Cassandra's interrogation, because obviously it's gotten fairly chaotic since the 3 years before that, in Kirkwall.

Yeah. The interrogation happens after Asunder, because Varric talks about the Templars leaving. So events in Asunder begin slightly after The Masked Empire as Celene is still in Val Royeaux at the beginning of TME. Celene has left for Jader by the time the Divine is attacked (in Asunder) and I would assume TME ends some time around the interrogation.

I theorize that the elven girl seen in concept art is Briala, and around the time the book comes out, they'll unveil the character.
If you mean the blonde elf who's been in both concept art and game footage, I doubt it.

I thought of another character,
On the subject of wishful thinking, I hope that the elven mage companion is

Yeah. Plus, I do remember them bringing up the civil war, IN Asunder too. But didn't they say something about her missing? Or was that cleared up? I can't recall.

She is apparently in Jader besieged by Gaspard's forces. I think there were rumours she was dead, but I doubt it would be that easy to take out Celene.

Yeah, the rumours of her death definitely sound about right.

Being ignorant to the books, who is Felassan?
Can't say the name rings a bell. They might have been in the comics.
