I never got the The Exiled Prince DLC but from what I heard he was kind of a boring character. I don't really care if he returns or not, but, I don't think he will.

I too never saw his as preachy, especially in comparison to some of our other compatriots in Hawke's party.

Seriously though, I sorta feel bad for Sebastian. I don't think he was done proper justice. All I really care about is his Maker No remix on youtube.

Yep. I remember a few times where he outright said he wasn't going to preach or push his opinions on others in his banter.

And Fenris.

Yeah, of all Bioware DLC characters so far Sebastian got the short end of the stick.

I remember that too. I was afraid he would be super preachy, but once he said that I figured I'd give him a shot and am glad I did. He had some great dialogue.

He definitely had potential, though.

Yes, He SAID that, but then he still bugged people about their religious preferences (Fenris) or moral choices (Isabela) and flat told Merril that she needed to confess and repent.  Now, don't  get me wrong, I definitely don't think his personality was "preachy" overall, I found Anders and Fenris to be much worse in that regard, but I definitely think he had his "preachy" moments.  Pretty sure they were just for lulz though, like in the party banter I quoted earlier.

Personally, IRL, I am not very religious, but it's never bothered me people are like "Jesus/Muhammad/Buddha/Ganesh/whoever is GREAT!"  like one of the other posters mentioned, so I hope I'm not coming off as bashing Sebastian for his faith.  My main reason for not being a fan of his is that I think he acts in a manner that is politically unwise and undercommitted.

I never understood why he gets called "preachy." Why is "hey this thing is great!" only preachy when it's something traditionally moral? (or is it just whenever religion is mentioned people decide the person talking about it is "preachy" or worse a "fanatic") Why isn't Isabella "preachy" for talking about sex nonstop and trying to turn Bethany and Carver to her ways?

Man, if I could stomach playing DA2 again (I can only get about four hours in at most) I would totally do another playthrough just to marry Sebastian again >.< I love all of his banters with your sibling if you get married too XD

I don't know if I'd call him preachy, I don't tend to have a problem with the religious people in the game. But this dialogue of his really irks me.

Sebastian: I used to be like you, you know.
Isabela: You used to be a woman?
Sebastian: No!
Isabela: That explains a lot.
Sebastian: My family put me in the Chantry because I was giving them a bad name.
Sebastian: It was the best thing that ever happened to me. I found peace. I found a purpose.
Sebastian: Before I came here, I used to be out to all hours, drinking and whoring. I didn't believe in anything except my own pleasure.
Isabela: Why couldn't I have met you then?

Sure on the surface he's trying to be nice. But when I heard it I just wanted to belt him. To me it sounded like "I used to be like you. But now I'm BETTER." As though he has any idea what Isabela's life has been like. He should know just from looking at her that she didn't get that way because she was some spoilt princess. Something as simple as finding the Maker isn't going to make Isabela's pain go away, but apparently Sebastian can't see the forest through his own self-righteousness.

Anyway, I'm sorry. I know you really like him. But I just can't stand that sort of thing.

Implying that there actually is something wrong with Isabela's way of life, the irony.

Do you mean that I was? Because that wasn't my intention.

Yeah, kinda. But hey, if it wasn't intended.

Oh that's fine. I see your point. I don't have a problem with the life, but I suppose I was looking at Isabela from the perspective of seeing how she was after she leaves Kirkwall.

Well according to some sources we are going to the Free Marches so it's possible that we could run into Sebastian.

My previous...strong statements aside, that might not be a half bad idea.  After all, if I don't metagame my first time playing Inquisition, it'll be a clean state for ol' Seb.  The Inquisitor (in my mind at least) wasn't in Kirkwall when all hell broke loose and has never met Sebastian.  Besides, I'm willing to relent a little and say that the events of Kirkwall (and then Asunder, since I think he at least heard about that) might have forced him to grow up a bit.

Honestly, so long as he doesn't threaten my friends again (unlikely since I'm 99% sure he isn't going to be a party member,) doesn't try to raze Kirkwall over one crazy mage, and as long as he found his sense of conviction, it might be cool to see him again.  Again, Sebastian never came off as preachy to me.  In fact, Anders trying to lecture Merril over the different types of demons and sins was way more annoying, and struck me as pretty self-righteous.

Okay, I'll say it and I agree with others that did: Anders with his mages cause was far more insistent and preachy in his beliefs about mages than Sebastian ever was about his religion.

No we aren't.

@Mike_Laidlaw Hi Mike, will we be visiting any of the Free Marches cities in #DAI, since storylines from Exalted March were carried over?

Nope. Only themes were carried forward, not locations.

If he is coming back, I hope theres an option to don the velvet hat ( as Oghren calls it) with him. I got teased miserably in da2. If not, he can go back to polishing andraste's statue at the chantry.

Lucky andraste :-/

Well this source says otherwise.

Besides, we didn't visit many locations in the Free Marches, it was basically Kirkwall and some areas close by, more or less.

Man, maybe it's, uhm, a bit of a stretch, but I think the lead designer is right when it's his word against a game magazine.

We found out that article wasn't accurate earlier in the day (or last night for Americans). Check this thread out for more info.

For the record, Mike Laidlaw > a magazine, no matter the publication.  ;)
