I didn't appreciate being threatened over my choice to spare a life.

I didn't appreciate not having a choice to kill him instead of letting him walk away.

I'm more frustrated at the writing here. Not the character per se. It's really odd. Why doesn't he do it himself if he wants that so bad? You could tell Alistair similar things in DAO.. like when he complains about saving Zevran. You can tell him to kill Zevran, which he declines. And he'll take initiative with Loghain if he wins the duel.

Amen...I wish my mage Hawke had a head exploding spell.

Well for one, even though he was an idiot, even he could probably realize that the PC would annihilate him in a heartbeat if he tried to kill Anders himself.

Sebastian is another character, similar to Tallis and Corpheus that I dislike despite having only seen them in videos on YouTube

People say crazy things when their mother figure and everyone they know, all their friends and coworkers have just been mass murdered and the guy who did it is standing right there while you decide to let him get away with it. Sebastian never hurt anyone and because he made a threat many people just want to kill him. Anders didn't make a threat, he actually killed innocent people...

It's inconsistent with his passion. If he wants to make a stand, then he'd take that chance. I don't understand how it plays out. "I'm making a stand, but you do the killing". It doesn't come off that realistic to me. People who are that pissed will jump into the fire, if necessary.

edit: Basically, it just comes off as a very player centric moment. I don't like how other characters defer too much and stand around.

It doesn't matter, the choice to kill Sebastian should still have been there. If I would have cared about him being emotional I would spare him.

I like him for one reason. He's very similar to the Cousland human noble, but you get to see it from the outside. Similar story, but different upbringing (raised more like Alistair).

edit: Unlike Cousland though, he's torn on being vengeful.

I agree that it should have been a choice and you should have been forced to defend Anders and kill Sebastian or to let Sebastian kill Anders or do it yourself (and either death scene should have been better than Anders' death scene where he looks mildly surprised and then falls over like a log)I just think the extreme hatred is mind boggling.

Eluvian's comment didn't really look like an example of "extreme hatred."

Well what if I have no problem with Anders actions AND I'm being threatened? The combination of the two obviously makes me act accordingly to threats.

It's not just that. It's the fact that he then threatened to burn Kirkwall to the ground with his army. That irritated me even more, mother figure or no.

lol.. I guess they figure that if you paid money for the DLC, then they're not going to give the option of death. You already show your high approval of Sebastian by purchasing.

Exactly. So a "Do you want to do it Sebastian? What's that? No? Then stand the hell down," option would be good.

I'm not your lackey, Sebastian, you're mine.

Wanting to cut his head off for a comment? Yep, just run of the mill indifference there lol Really though I was responding to the general attitude of hatred he gets. He gets called a "religious fanatic" even though he's nothing but peaceful and compassionate until that part at the end which was in my opinion an idle threat said in the heat of passion. People want to kill him for being religious and for wanting to kill Anders at the end (the guy that just murdered everyone he cared about as well as a bunch of innocents) as well as for his threat of attacking Kirkwall yet the same people usually defend Anders who...just attacked Kirkwall and killed innocents for real.

Keep voicing hatred of Sebastian, and the developers will keep him alive just to spite you.

I suggest some reverse psychology. Just say you like Sebastian. A lot. Then he'll die eventually.

I should have been more clear. Anders was only one small facet of why Sebastian got on my nerves. It was how he reacted, with threatening to burn a city to the ground, that irritated me much more. Questioning my orders is fine, but don't take your grief out on an entire city. I let Anders live so he could help save the very people he had damned.
