Reminds me, I was thinking about how much I was looking forward to playing this game, getting the hang of how the new combat system, getting to know the story and characters etc. And a thought hit me, I might even die before the game is out! The worst part of that notion was not getting to play, because priorities... So I decided I better drive more carefully, lest the fun would end too early.

What's sad is that I saw a Confession on the DA Confession Tumblr page that said a fan was dying of terminal cancer, and that they wanted to make it to October to play DAI. It honestly broke my heart.

The way I've always heard it, hazel is a cross between green and brown.

 

Yeah, this is how I've understood it as well.  Hazel eyes have both green and brown  and can appear to change color depending on the lighting to look more brown or more green.

It is, but creates a neat optical illusion if you will.

Cassandra: of course not there's no such thing. Mead goes off with in a few hours.

Dorian: *chuckles* oh is that so, perhaps a wager then?

Cass: what do you have in mind?

Dorian: *twirls moustache with one hand* oh, so many, things.

Cass: really? you think talking like that to me would work?

Dorian: No, buts thats why i brought the mead.

Cass: how's this ten pieces of sliver say's its rotten and a undrinkable

Dorian: ....... seems a little pedestrian but sure, why not? *grabs another can* will the lady indulge?

Cass: Indeed.

*solas picks up a can and attempts to pry the top off it, dorian snatches it back*

Dorian: By the maker what are you part dwarf? you have to chill it first.

*dorian uses a simple spell to cool the cans to perfect drinking temperature, then another to effortlessly peel off tops of the cans, immediately the pressured can react's with be opened and a nice head forms on the mead, both solas and cassandra wait for dorian to start drinking before hesitantly taking a sip, Surprisingly it is not only fresh but taste's delicious, they begin to take bigger and bigger gulps*

Cass: well a bet's a bet *hands over the sliver* I must say this is the most amazing mead i've ever had whats in it?

Dorian: I'm it's a tevinter secret i couldn't possibly divulge.

Solas: oh come on tell us

Cass: tell us come on, whats your big tevinter secret?

Dorian: you sure?

Solas and cas together: Yes.

Dorian: and you wont tell a soul?

*together they shake their heads*

Dorian: alright *he leans in as solas begins drinking again and whispers* Its the blood of Elven Slaves

*Solas immediately starts chocking on his mead and coughs and splutters everywhere, Cassandra looks mortified.

Dorian: *bursts out laughing* oh ahahaha oh ahaaha oh, you should have looks on your faces. ahaahahaaa...ahaaa Oh that never gets old.

I have Hazel eyes. As far as I know,  they've never looked full out green. However, they occasionally turn into a light brown color in the right conditions. I've NEVER been told my eyes look blue. Now that I think about it, maybe grey in dark conditions.

Oooh, the green/hazel is exciting   Especially exciting because I was messing around in photoshop the other day (after Elu said he wanted a vibrant color) and ended up with this.

I really hope for green.  Hazel is fine, but haven't all of the male LI's have hazel or brown eyes so far? 

 

Also, thanks for coming in and giving us this tidbit.  Little things like this make me happy that the BSN is around!

weren't alistairs a sort of goldeny-brown in origins and blue in the comics?

I, too, have hazel eyes. They look more brown in the dark and more green in the light, but they've never been kaleidoscopes. I was a bit confused when I read that.

Like all eye colors, the "hazel" phenotype is just a general description of the coloration of the eyes. Eye colors are not monotone and are actually formed of many different patterns of pigments. Depending on several factors, certain pigments are more pronounced.
It why many people have "different" eye colors.
I have hazel eyes that also appear green under sunlight.

Given that the developers are likely to have hardcoded a dozen or so set eye color palletes, our man can either have hazel OR green. I'm hoping for the former.

Given that the developers are likely to have hardcoded a dozen or so set eye color palletes, our man can either have hazel OR green. I'm hoping for the former.

 

When I zoom in close, they appear to be a light shade of green with flecks of brown. That reads as hazel to me. Mind you, with the way things are going, I could turn around tomorrow and the model could be changed and his eyes could be purple. So take my observation with a big grain of salt.

What we've seen so far looks AMAZING. I don't think I'll be able to handle a polished up version. lol.

I think that's right, but allot of people just like to say hazel. I once new a girl who had straight brown eyes and would flip out on anyone who'd say they're anything but hazel.
Also, if the vibrant eyes are gone. What'll happen to our wardens and hawkes who have them (if they appear in-game)?

Two things:

 

1.)  That sounds awesome.  Light green with flecks of brown?  I'm definitely feeling that.

 

2.)  It's pretty amazing that you went back to the game and zoomed in to answer this for us.  I appreciate it.  I haven't checked all of the companion threads, but I'm going to assume that it's because you agree with us that the moustache is the way to go, right?  DHMG support from the top?

I don't think that certain eye colors are gone per se, so much as they look more realistic in the new engine. For instance, my warden's more vibrant light blue eyes would likely look more like my blue-grey ones. 

 

Edit: Or at least, that's how I understood it... who knows?
