August 2012, yeah. DA:I was announced officially in September.
(September was when Ray and Greg left Bioware, and they announced DA:I plus the next Mass Effect at the same time.)

Exactly. Most often I see this guy as being solely m/m, Solas bi, and Cullen being straight. My question was just asking what made some people think he was more likely to be m/m only.
I know exactly what you mean. It like we've been speculating for years (oh wait, we have.....) and we still have four months to go......
AND, we still don't know his name! I feel confident that he's going to be Dorian, but I just want confirmation. I really hope that we get to know on Monday!
I have a question. Whatever made him the fan favorite for the m/m romance? Granted, I'm not complaining (cause he's drop dead gorgeous) but what about his character design made us think so? Honestly, I am at a loss. If you say that it's just because of the hands, Imma smack you.
It is something in his apperiance. And name of course.
guys he is Dorian. All chars from survey were confirmed.
For me it's a combination of 'Because I want him to be' and speculation based on the other party members and where I think they'll up regarding their LI status. Cullen being completely uninterested in women seems ridiculous to me, based on his interactions in the previous games and how supremely cruel it would be for Bioware to introduce him as a love interest and limit it to males. Cole is not exactly human and been mentioned on the unlikelihood on him being a love interest due to unwillingness on the writers' part (with good reason). Varric mentioned being interested in female dwarves in DA2, and even if they said 'well hey, his perspective has changed' I can't see it now excluding females.
So that leaves Solas, DHMG, Iron Bull and the Warden. Due to Bioware's previous history of romances, Solas and DHMG seem to fit the bill of a DA LI moreso than the other two, and people seem to think that everyone needs the option of romancing a human or an elf, so out of the two I see Solas more likely being bi.
Aaaaand I'm done. But mostly, it's really just because I want him to be.

Link? As far as I know that is supremely untrue. The characters we believe to be Cole, Dorian and the grey Warden are still yet to be confirmed at all, let alone their names. Hopefully next week this will no longer be the case.
Yup. 1 mage, rogue, and warrior still unconfirmed.Link? As far as I know that is supremely untrue. The characters we believe to be Cole, Dorian and the grey Warden are still yet to be confirmed at all, let alone their names. Hopefully next week this will no longer be the case.
Hah, we were just talking about accents and David has a new tumblr post on accents and voice acting.
Interesting points there about how RP English accents are basically a stand-in for "foreign" - it's remarkable how much that specific accent has basically become Generic Fantasy Pronunciation Used in Everything Ever. He even mentions the trope that all Romans talk like posh Londoners.
Not to sound condescending or anything, but it was pretty interesting to see that when the male Inquisitor in one of the DAI trailers had an accent that was perhaps closer to Welsh or Cornish, people thought it sounded weird!
I think the unfortunate downside of RP accents being so widespread is that when a character should have that sort of accent - like I'd expect someone based on Oscar Wilde or Dorian Grey to have - it might even sound samey and "standard".

And Scribe Girl, although she's probably not a companion.

Interesting post...and here I thought we might hear more French than RP accents in DA:I ![]()
I'd like to hear more of the regional British accents in general, though. That would be another neat way to switch it up.

I hope this isn't true since it means the NPC romances are going to limit only some orientations from companion romances.

Sera has been confirmed as Sera, that makes all the companions from the survery save Dorian confirmed.
I think it's safe to say that the probability of DHMG being our friendly, neighbourhood Tevinter Magister Dorian Pavus just went up, and I couldn't be happier!
EDIT: Despite some twitter references, it is true that Cole also hasn't been confirmed through any form of marketing yet. It looks like every companion will be confirmed however, before E3, through theses twitter notices.

'Cole' hasn't been confirmed as Cole.
I agree, my favorite playthroughs are of a straight female character and it will be majorly disappointing if my only choice for companion romance is baldy.
So would I as a gay male character ![]()
'Cole' hasn't been confirmed as Cole.
Yes, but Gaider once stated (and it's somewhere in the Cole thread), paraphrased of course, that Cole is in game and the reason he wouldn't be a romance option is because he has the mindset of a child. But fair point regardless.
Still, it looks like, more than ever, DHMG is Dorian.

I'm glad people are giving him a dusting of chest hair. Varric can't hog all the glory.
And let's hope they don't forget the male PC. The lack of chest hair so far in DA and ME has been rather disturbing. ![]()
If they do the 2/4/2 instead of 2/2/2 I wouldn't mind it as much since you still have 2 men companions for straight women to romance.
And let's hope they don't forget the male PC. The lack of chest hair so far in DA and ME has been rather disturbing.
I prefer they don't actually. Never been a fan of chest hair so with the bodies being set I'd prefer it be lacking.
Doesn't 2/4/2 me two heterosexuals (1 of each gender), four bisexuals (2 of each gender) and 2 homosexuals (1 of each gender)? Wouldn't that make it 3 male companions romance-able by women?

I'd like it if chest hair is an option.

But one of those is Cullen who is an NPC.
