The "I know you cared about him" & "He was dead long ago" interaction, to me, indicates they're talking about Alexius.  I'm pretty sure Dorian is speaking in metaphors - he cut Alexius, his mentor, out of his life when he saw the path he had gone down, thus "he was dead (to me) long ago".  I don't think anything exists ref Felix until we see more.

Still think he ga-ga-ga-gay, though.

Pakistan is not in the Middle East.

The conventional definition is that the region stops at Iran.

I googled it and it appears you all are right. Pakistan is considered an Asian country. Sorry, the news always talks about it like it's in the Middle East.

This is also a compelling way to put it.

Now I don't know what to think. Felix's role in the story is still largely unclear, though.

Technically the Middle East is in Asia too.

True. But the ME is Western Asia, but India isn't really considered in the Middle East. Nor is Pakistan. Unless it's referred to as such in other countries?

Edit: Others have cleared it up!

True

This also probably indicates that Dorian knew his son prior to his death

If this specualtion is true then someone just have to draw cute/sad art of Dorian and Alexius together, teaching Felix magic or doing other happy-gay-couple-until-one-of-them-dies-tragic-drama-cliche

But India and Pakistan share a much disputed border, and Pakistan is very much in the Middle East? Am I missing something?

No. The Middle East is the region that lies at the crossroads between Africa and Eurasia (Europe and Asia). So basically its the Arabian Peninsula, the Levant, Iran, Egypt, Sudan, Turkey, and even Cyprus. Turkey and Cyprus are technically part of Europe, while the rest are part of Asia. Pakistan and Afghanistan are directly west of India but not part of the Middle East.

This concludes today's geography lesson :P

Edit: oh guess I was slow in responding lol

Haha, well, sometimes when there's an animated corpse in the scene it obfuscates the whole "he's dead to me" intent & meaning.  XD

B-b-but, that's what I've been trying to - ah, well. Keyword trying, I guess, need to be more coherent :P

Out of those VA guesses earlier, I sincerely hope it wouldn't be Naveen Andrews, though from what little I did hear it didn't seem like it. And if it is, I suppose fromw hat little we've heard he's done alright so it wouldn't matter anyway haha

That seems... disproportionately certain, given how little we know of Dorian, Alexius, Felix, their relationships to each other and their relevancy to the events of the demo. All we know is that Alexius is Dorian's former mentor and that Felix was his son.

Edit: Not that I'm disagreeing, it just struck me as a little odd.

Yeah, I now feel like we should hold off until we get some better information - or at least an actual copy of the demo to pore over.

I think I misinterpreted the summary and (not for the first time) ended up being more confident than I should be :P

There's a "script" of the full demo posted earlier. Things were said and shown that implied it.

For all we know we could be wrong, but its not completely unfounded as you suggest.

"Okay, I really have to practice my talk and go to bed, but I wanted to write out what I saw at the Dragon Age Inquisition demo at E3 earlier today. I may jumble the order a bit because I didn’t have a chance to sit down and record my experience as it happened, or even right after, but I will try to relay as much as I can as accurately as I can. I’m a programmer, not a journalist lol. (Also, though I work for one of the big game hardware companies, I am telling you this as a general E3 attendee and huge Dragon Age nerd, not as an employee of that company).

First of all, I did NOT actually get to play the demo. I was in a room full of other E3 attendees watching someone from BioWare play the demo, while the lead producer (I think? I might recognize the name if I saw it, I remember what the guy looks like) ran through a script. Most of the demo was about showcasing the new engine, Frostbite 3, and the new gameplay features, but there were also JUICY BITS OF PLOT. They asked us not to film or take pictures, so I only have text for y’all. LONG HUGE TEXTWALL AHEAD

OKAY so, they started us out with the trailer, then got into the game proper by showing us the COOL AND HUGE lady Qunari inquisitor mage. They ran around a little bit showing off the PRETTY FERELDAN FOLIAGE, while telling us about how the game is about the war between the mages and the templars and how it’s literally tearing the world apart. They got a sidequest from this NPC elf lady who might have been Dalish (she had face tattoos), who’s husband was killed by Templars that allegedly thought his shovel was a staff (he was digging out a stump), and took his ring because they thought it might be magic. We didn’t do that quest at all, they just wanted to emphasize they’re going for a show-don’t-tell design by conveying the conflict and story by involving you, the player in it.

They talked about how you’ll get troops and stuff under your command and as you progress through the game, you’ll start seeing your patrols along the road (as opposed to enemy patrols). They showed the armor crafting system briefly, and the system where you can set up base camps all over the map (as opposed to having an abstract location of ~camp~ on the world map). Then we headed off in the direction of Redcliffe Castle since SOME **** was going down with a big ass Fade rift in the sky. Party members included Vivienne, Iron Bull, and Sera.

There was some fighting and battle system demoing, where we got to see Sera backflipping all over the place and cloaking while stealthed. It was pretty cool. Between fighting, we got to hear some banter between Sera and Iron Bull, where <highly paraphrased dialogue to follow> Iron Bull was like NEXT TIME I SHOULD PICK YOU UP AND THROW YOU INTO THE FRAY WHERE YOU CAN CAUSE MAYHEM, to which Sera was like uh why me tho, in her ADORABLE COCKNEY (?? I think?) accent. Iron Bull was like, cause you and Varrick are the only ones small enough to pick up and throw :’(, and Sera was like yeah no let’s not, and Iron Bull was like BUT!! MAYHEM!!!!

Then they went to fight a dragon, which looked AWESOME; they introduced destructible limbs, so the dragon’s legs had HP bars that when depleted would cripple a given limb. Vivienne was important in this fight because she used this slow time spell, so the world moved super slow, while the party moved normally. After chasing the dragon off, they came across some phylacteries, which they said are usable for tracking apostate mages.

Speaking of apostate mages, they’d been tearing **** up all over, and Redcliffe is basically a total clusterfuck. This is partially this guy, Alexius’s fault. He was holed up in the keep. The demo guy switched Dorian into the party, since he wanted to get special dialogue between Dorian and his former master, Alexius. So they got into the castle and found Leliana tied up and being tortured, though when the inquisitor shows up, she grabs her torturer around the neck with her legs and snaps it. According to the producer, they had made a decision earlier on in the playthrough to send Leliana in to spy or something, and she’d gone dark (presumably because she was caught), so this was kind of an extraction mission, as well as a mission to take out this nut, Alexius.

Leliana seemed (understandably) super bitter and hardened in this demo, and she really did not seem to get along well with Dorian. Dorian’s whole deal is that he’s a Tevinter Imperium mage and he wants to restore the honor of his homeland. So he seems like a noble, maybe a bit idealistic dude. So anyway, he started asking Leliana questions about what had happened to the castle (which is sitting basically in a Fade rift), and she’s just like stop talking. Dorian asked why, and she said because he was just trying to fill the silence. Basically, Leliana told him to shut the **** up.

Anyway, when they got to the room with Alexius, they tried to get some information out of him on how to stop the rift stuff. Meanwhile, there was this abomination crouching on the ground, which was apparently Alexius’s son, Felix, at one point (he was def long dead tho). Dorian was like, dude that’s not Felix he daid what is UP with you, and then the inquisitor asked for some amulet and Alexius was like nah, but then Leliana put a knife to Felix’s throat and the inquisitor gave the guy an ultimatum: give her the amulet and you get your “son” back. Alexius tried to just say GIVE ME MY SON BACK AND YOU CAN HAVE THE AMULET and Leliana was like **** that, and MERCILESSLY slit Felix’s throat.

This triggered a battle with Alexius and they showed off the tactical view a bit, which was neat. Once they beat him, they got the amulet and the inquisitor was kind of apologetic and was like “I know you cared for him.” Dorian seemed kind of bitter/hurt/maybe mildly conflicted? about this and was like, he died a long time ago. It’s a bit hard to convey exactly what about this interaction made me think that Dorian is interested in men, but I think it’s a distinct possibility that he’s bisexual or gay.

After that, they got the amulet and Dorian was like okay, give me an hour an I can reverse engineer the spell. Leliana was like, we don’t have an hour (demons were basically bearing down on the keep). She seemed super mad. Meanwhile, Sera and Iron Bull volunteered to go out of the hall doors and defend Dorian and the inquisitor while they worked on the spell to seal the big ass rift I guess. Leliana said “you have as much time as I have arrows”. And shortly thereafter, the horde stormed the doors, having clearly killed Sera. I didn’t see Iron Bull. Leliana got shot in the shoulder with an arrow and the inquisitor moved to help her, but she was like NO IF YOU MOVE, WE ALL DIE, I guess because she was helping Dorian with the spell. Then Leliana looks like she’s about to get killed when SURPRISE THAT’S THE END OF THE DEMO

I got a free t-shirt and bucket of tears. _(:3 」∠)_"

As opposed to Kirkwall templars who thought Hawke's staff was a shovel. There is balance in all things

I really really hope it's an indication of him being bisexual instead of gay. Because I'm apparently the only straight woman on the planent who doesn't want Cullen. And Dorian is well, smart rebel magister and a snappy dresser.

Hawke:This thing? It's a glowing pool stick.

Templar:Ah, carry on.

Maybe they imported a state where Leliana was hardened in DAO. Otherwise, her seeming super mean seems weird.

hmmm, having read that summary I think it sounds a lot like they went "cares about other guy? must be gay" than with any 'actual evidence'.

Also don't think Dorian had a relationship with Alexius OR Felix.

I guess they have finally learnt?

I mean, after DA2 it seemed that that one blind templar could see more and better than any other templar did
