If the mage is indeed Dorian, I'm interested in knowing about their relationship; Mary said their interactions would (for the most part) be explosive in a good way so it makes me wonder how their relationship works, exactly.

Ymirr did a Fanart about this not too long ago. It was freaking hilarious!Speaking of the companion reveal blog, (I know we've mentioned this briefly) but it says Vivienne will have an explosive relationship with an unnamed Inquisition mage.

We can customize swords by changing the hilt and blade but will we be able to customize other weapons like daggers or staffs?

Vivienne appears to support the Circle, which seems like anathema to even the most lucid Tevinter magister.
(And I think they'd clash personality-wise too. The blog said Vivienne took great pride in her work, and Dorian sounds like just the type to start trolling her about her magical ability.)

Have you read the letter to that noble she suspects is going to try and gate crash her party? Viv does not mince her words. She is pro-Circle on the Chantry model. Now Tevinter have Circles but they are run by the mages with the Templars doing as they are told. And apparently First Enchanters of the Circles aren't eligible to join the ruling Council, so it would appear that Magisters don't reckon them much. There seems a bit of a likelihood of a clash of cultures there. Also, if Dorian isn't gay as everyone assumes, and he tried hitting on her, may be Madame de Fer doesn't take kindly to that sort of attention!
However, it could just as easily be Solas that Vivienne doesn't get on with. He is an apostate after all and even without the mage rebellion would have wanted to stay that way. I doubt he would have much in common with her either, particularly if her attitude to elves reflects that of the majority of nobility in Orlais.

Hmm, while Dorian is a possibility, I'd Solas is the most likely to be referred by Mary Kirby. There was that fanart where Viviene and IB where on horsed and she mocked Solas (don't recall what she said), and Gaider responded that the scene was perfect (minus the lack of one character, I guess Sera), implying that Solas and Vivienne's relationship could be similar in/game.
Vivienne tells a hunched Solas: "Get in loser. We're going shopping" while riding on horse alongside Iron Bull.
It's a parody of the Mean Girls scene. Rather funny. ![]()

As I said, both can be (technically Morrigan could be since mary said 'character', and in truth I don't think they'll have a friendly relationship), but Solas seems more likely to me.

I actually believe it's Dorian since he's the only mage that wasn't named when she said that and she had specifically said "yet unnamed mage" (or do i have my facts wrong?).
Given that Vivienne is pro-Circle and Dorian is Tevinter I'm sure it's going to get rather explosive.

Pro-Circle is rather vague. From what we know, I would guess she is pro-circle because it was her way to success, and she will loose a lot if the Circle as an institution would stop existing. She doesn’t sound like a person who supports it’s because it’s RIGHT, like Wynne.
[Which is great, I might have found a person besides Morrigan, my Warden Mage would have respected, it’s a pity they are unlikely to met each other]

What gets me though is that Mary said they'll be explosive in a good way. Will they be 'friendly' rivals with very different and strong opinions? Will they jest? The possibilities!

Yes, we knew about Solas a bit before Vivienne's blurb of info. But we don't know when Mary made that interview. It's possible it was before the magazine came out, and she didn't know that when the interview will be up Solas would've been revealed already.I actually thought the missing character was Dorian.

If they make the necromancer capable of reviving newly dead people in addition to raising corpses, then that would make it have a beneficial aspect to it and also account for how the companions in the demo actually manage to survive the events, since Dorian can bring them back. Alternatively using the residual life force from corpses to heal self and party members. The old spirit magic class could do this for self at least (I think it was that class). I'm not a great enthusiast for being a necromancer after our experiences with it in DA2, when its use was definitely associated with evil and madness, something that seems to have been carried through at least so far as Alexis is concerned. However, if Dorian was trained by him then it seems likely that he will have some of the necromancer's ability, even if he has some spells that are unique to him as a Tevinter mage. I certainly think that unless each of the characters have their own unique class abilities (as in DA2) , then Vivienne is likely to be a Knight Enchanter, Solas the Rift Mage, and Dorian the Necromancer.
Another plot plot hole in the four rules of magic. You can't bring the dead back to life. I know of the loophole that says if the soul still hold to the body person can be saved. I believe that was why Leandra was more than a walking corpse. It will be fun to see this play out.

I personally don't see Vivienne getting along with either of them. Solas could be seen as dangerous because he's an apostate, while Dorian is from Tevinter.
Then again, we don't necessarily know what faction she's in.

I'm definitely imagining something like Aveline and Isabela - they start off a bit wary of each other with genuine vitriol in their snarking. Then they come to respect and like each other, and then the snarking has that positive undertone to it.

I actually really like that idea. I adored Aveline and Isabela's relationship, if not between Vivi and Dorian I hope we get something similar to that between other companions.
