Thanks Ymir! That does look like a tentacle, how... odd. And coincidental. I guess everyone saying he is The Hierophant is just speculation then. I'm not sure whether I dislike the tarot avatars or think they are spectacular. At this stage I don't like that the Inquisitor's is the Inquisition logo, but what are you going to do. I liked staging my own in Origins.

Well he shares the same distinctive pose as the Hierophant, so I don't think it's far fetched.

What is The Heirophant?
It's the 5th card in the major arcana suit of tarot.
Basically, it represents tradition, order, and organization, usually represented by a male authoritative figure.
Hmm... Not sure if Dorian would fit that yet but maybe maybe not?

Ah, I see! I know absolutely nothing about tarot. I've been invited to do a session or two, but eh.
Tentacle... cannot get over this. Broodmother?

I don't see Dorian as the Hierophant. Isn't he supposed to be rebelling against traditional Tevinter beliefs? The Hierophant symbolizes the passing on of traditional beliefs and moral values to subsequent generations, which directly opposes what Dorian stands for. I could see Dorian being the Magician though, since the Magician is supposedly all about attempting to create change in the world.

Omg I'm so excited for this tarot deck. This actually resembles an actual divination deck unlike some of the bullshit tie in decks I've been seeing (coughDishonored)Well he shares the same distinctive pose as the Hierophant, so I don't think it's far fetched.
Spoiler
I'm an amateur tarot reader myself so this will make for some dragony, tentacle filled reads

Until you flip the card.
Though I got the opposite impression from what was said at E3. I thought he was against where it was going, not where it had been. Or something like that.

I thought it was a bit of both - he is against the old stereotypes that have sullied Tevinter's reputation, and he is against the nation's current attempts to further perpetuate these stereotypes in the future.Until you flip the card.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. The Magician is all about new beginnings, having ambition and moving towards change. Makes more sense with what we've seen of him so far.I don't see Dorian as the Hierophant. Isn't he supposed to be rebelling against traditional Tevinter beliefs? I think Solas would be more suited to be the hierophant?

I figured Solas would be the Hermit, ah.. Perhaps it'll be more clearer when we get profiles of them?

The magician sounds like Morrigan.
edit: Playing SWTOR, found stern Dorian in the game:

Star Wars in same universe as Dragon Age CONFIRMED. Dorian is also a time/universe traveler.

But also it also symbolizes things like Power,Social Convention,Balance,Knowledge...it could fit,I think
Plus he appears to be doing the Hierophant pose, the Magician pose is a bit different

So the magic necklace is a doorway to Star Wars. So does this mean that the theory of Bioware bigest seller all being in the same universe is true. That would mean the DA is the past, Me is the present and Swar Wars is the future. (My brain just made a big popping sound)

New interesting interview. It has some new reveals and confirmations.
Most importantly, it's good enough quality that I was finally able to look at Dorian's face from the front during the "Move and we all die" part... and...well... it might sound shallow but oh my God he's DEFINITELY one of the more handsome BioWare characters.
Kay my thirst has been sated for a little. Now actual info on him pls.
Wow that female interviewer was pretty blunt. "How are the adult content, like sex and drugs".

I HATE Doc. You're a medic and you act like a smuggler. His character was so weak and flip flopped... writers didn't know what he was.

I liked her a lot and she had a strong agenda. She cut the BS and she also was pretty direct about getting real answers about this Ubisoft BS as well as focusing on the female presence in the game. She also seemed to know her stuff.

Pretty sure it's supposed to be a snake not a tentacle...
Ya know..given that it's essentially the sigil of the Venatori and Dorian is supposedly from that group.
Just saying...

A BioWare game without sex is no BioWare game at all.

1- I like/hate doc tbh. Like him because he's made pve 100000x easier for me. He also helps people. But dear God its like they just wanted to add some contrast in the jedi knight's companion list so they decided to add a cocky twit lol. But as I said he also like helps people, so yeah his writers didn't really know what to do with him.
2- Yup, you can tell she's a pretty strong individual, if she had something on her mind to say she said it and she focused on the female presence and how they get a different treatment, she know very little about the game but she definitely knows how to get the most out of an interview. Must say she's the best female interviewer if not the best interviewer in general I have ever seen.
