Varric won't be a LI. I'll eat every hat I own if he is.

 

Solas is the biggest worry, and obstacle atm. Cullen would be fine, as would Grey Warden, Iron Bull, and Flaily Mustache guy.

 

IMO, Solas is an LI thanks to the only elf male so far, and we had Zev and Fenris in the other games, so imo i don't see the pattern breaking...but that's just me.

For Varric the reason i don't think he will be an LI is...Bianca.

 

 

We don't really know there will only be two male LIs. There were three last time, with Sebastian. If Cullen is an NPC, he probably doesn't take up a companion romance slot, if he has a romance at all. So, I wouldn't be too quick to count them as full. 

Agreed...i just take the info we got and let my brain start it's meltdown process and who said that Cullen may be an NPC? :S  the info i got for Cullen is that tweet from Greg Ellis (his VA). Which btw ain't "proof" enough for me...(just speculating mind you )

I saw somewhere on a wikia discussion thread a post about a rumor - 6 LI : 2 hetero, 2 bi, 2 homosexual. Though I don't really believe it... but if it really was the case, I guess Cullen would go almost surely for the hetero option, while DHMG could be bi, but all is just speculation. (The sexual orientation could however fit for the three females with Sera bi, Viv straight, Cass lesbian)

If we only have 2 male LI, I hope Cullen isn't a romance option, would like to see our mahogany guy and Bearded Bear. We've had 2 warrior romances (Alistair, Fenris), 2 rogues (Zevran, Sebastian), and only Anders as a mage so far. Time for a magic passion? >> DHMG or Solas?

It's always been debated whether Cullen was a companion or NPC. The devs wont confirm which, still. Greg Ellis didn't understand the question and he said that later, so it doesn't really mean anything about his companion status. Previous to the tweet, a lot of people suspected he would be an advisory NPC. The keeps can have a focus on espionage, military force or trade. One theory was that Cullen might be the military NPC, with Leliana and Scribe Girl being the other two, most likely. It's still a popular theory, but it's all largely speculation. If he is an NPC, though, he probably isn't one of the "main" two standard companion romances.

Cassandra was involved with a male mage in an animated feature, I believe, so she couldn't be the lesbian.

 

I don't see it ending well if they do the 2/2/2 format, though. It's going to make people angry, regardless. There are guys that would want to romance Cullen as a guy, but I sort of see girls that wanted to romance, say, Solas or Dorian, being even more angry if they can't romance the character as a female just because they're less likely to expect it coming in. It just seems like less of a mess to keep everyone open to everyone.

Please, don't let him be Orlesian. We will be surrounded by Orlesians, and we don't need two Orlesian mages. The whole point of DHMG/Dorian would be to offer another view on the whole mage situation in Thedas, so having a rogue Magister on the squad makes a lot more sense than doubling down on nationality or origin.

I think there would be more chance of the Grey Warden companion being a Chevalier than this guy. I think it's time to come to terms with him being a mage, ladyofpayne

I think Dramatic Hands will end up being a companion.  Whether or not he's an LI is anyone's guess.

 

As for his being a chevalier... I don't think he is.  No yellow feather.

 

What he could be, based on what I know from reading TME thus far, is a pikeman/footsoldier, who has both a pike/spear and a shortsword.  In that case he might also be wearing cheaper/lighter armor.

That said, I still think he looks like a mage.  I know that Heroes of Dragon Age has a lot of art based around their contact with the main Dragon Age team, and his attire does look pretty Tevinter to me.  But, I've also never seen a chevalier in any of the games.

 

I also think Cullen will be in the party, and while I'm glad for the fans of Cullen, I'm disappointed because even though I enjoy a good romance, I prefer new, interesting characters, and I'd rather have Cole tag along with my Inquisitor than Cullen... but that's personal preference.  I would be more likely to go for Dramatic Hands or Solas than Cullen...

 

Edited to note that I mean I'd rather have a new non-romance character like Cole than a romance-Cullen who has appeared in a couple games and just seems deeply broken during DA2 and after the Circle quest in DAO.  But it doesn't look like I'll get my wish... Ah well.  Some people are happy.

I imagined Chevaliers to have similar armor to Prosper de Montfort, I always liked the design.
