Ah, the first playthrough! I suppose we all just have to wait until further info is revealed. David Gaider said that there's a chart for the romance options and that the marketing department might (emphasize on might) release it to the public. That'll be helpful!

 

 

It honestly doesn't make much of a difference to me if he's s/s or bi. I just hope all the race/gender combinations get at least one choice of LI for their preferred gender. It'll suck if they go: Oh you're a Dwarf, so you can only romance the girls, or oh you're a Qunari, so you can only be straight.

 

I suggested he's s/s because Iron Bull strikes me as bi. And should Solas be s/s, then both of our elven companions would be gay/lesbian, which is a bit improbable. Cullen seems to be straight. And Blackwall has a really slim chance of being LI. So Dorian is the more likely one.

I dunno, Blackwall's nickname on tumblr before he had an official name was Ser Bara... and now a ship name of "Scaling the Wall"... so I think he has quite a demand for Blackwall being an LI.

 

I know I do, if only because of my missed connection with Duncan in Origins.

I do like the idea Blackwall as an LI. He's honorable, he's a Grey Warden, he's politically savvy, he's beefy, he has a nice sense of humor, he's an older guy... What's there not to like?! It's just that with Cullen as an LI and Iron Bull very likely being another LI, having Blackwall means we have 3 male warrior LIs. (It also doesn't seem there are very many people who like him either.) I'd totally have him over Iron Bull, though.

Twitter is saying that they haven't confirmed IB's LI status "Despite people's assumption".

 

Also, technically, Cullen isn't a companion so not sure we should count him as a "warrior LI" either.

 

But if you want to think of it that way, I don't think they would make all three male warriors in the game LIs. At least not all for the same gender variances. One could be hetero, one bi/gay, and one race gated bi?? Maybe?

 

If that makes sense. That's a lot of LI eggs in one basket.

That will mostly likely change once the game comes out though (I know I'm being captain obvious lol). I remember not wanting Anders to be a LI because I'm shallow... He's my favorite Dragon Age 2 romance now. While there's other people who wanted him as a LI but ended up disliking him as person as the story progressed.

I see Blackwall as a great big apology for not letting any of the Origins smooch Duncan.

Before we knew more about Dorian, I was wishing night and day that Blackwall would be a romance, hahahah (a manly Grey Warden? Yes please I'll have 10). But now I'm coming to terms with him not looking LI likely, as long as we get Dorian as an s/s romance at least ;D

At the very least. Ideally, for me, Dorian would be bi. I will play a guy to romance him (probably someone Han Solo looking to go with his Lando vibe), but I would prefer to play my preferred gender. =)

Yeah, I know about that. I just suppose it makes sense if there's the option of jumping in bed with him, even if he isn't a full-fledged LI. (And also, he seems like a good choice of LI for Qunari PCs...)

 

Cullen is strongly hinted to be your military adviser. Which isn't relevant really...

 

I think we need at least one mage LI, and if Vivienne isn't an LI (I hope she isn't, because all 3 female companions being romantically available feels wrong somehow), then either Dorian or Solas should be one. And they probably won't have 3 male human LIs either. Anyways, we won't know until they reveal another male LI. Which hopefully will be sometime very soon since they revealed Sera recently.

 

 

Well, considering that I haven't seen the 40 min demo footage, I really have no idea what he's like really. My interest in him is solely based on his character design and the little blurb about him wanting to get rid of the stereotype about Tevinter (which by itself is very dubious still). I'm sort of torn between him and Solas. Both have interesting designs, and I've got a feeling that there's more to Solas than meets the eye.

 

ATM, I'm happy with the confirmation of Cassandra and Sera as LIs, and Cullen is nice too. I hope they'll reveal another male LI really soon.

It was his attitude and voice that hooked me. He sounds like Naveen Andrews and I am hoping that is the case....

Yeah, I heard that his VA was Indian (another button) and someone on tumblr brought up Naveen and I compared his voice to the demo... and I can see it. But it is hard to be sure of it without an unfiltered Dorian. ((I hurt my ears so bad turning up the videos loud enough to hear him... but worth it for the "Are you mad, what have you done?!" and the "YOU MOVE AND WE ALL DIE!!"))

I had my volume up to about 70 and managed to distinguish what they were saying:

Inq: "Alexius. It's time to answer for your crimes."
Lels brings up knife to Felix and Alexius says something like, "No! Felix!"
Dorian: "Felix... ? Maker's Breath, Alexius, what have you done?!"

 

I was focused on hearing Dorian, so I left the rest. Sad to say I replayed it when I heard it properly like 23095798573 times. My ears were ringing with Laidlaw, "Ooh! Hey, conversation!" for a while after that.

I still can't cope. Thane's romance was of my favorite memories of ME2 (to the point it was hard to romance anyone else. The reason I don't have a Garrus-mance save is THANE'S FAULT).

EXACTLY THIS. I can't re-play the game with any others romances... his was too lovely. HE RUINED ME. I remember tweeting after ME3 to the official twitter saying I wanted a better ending for that great character and they replied vaguely saying I should stay hopeful. God that annoyed me because all we got was some soppy funeral. I actually hated the Citadel DLC from what I saw on YouTube. Just constant references being thrown blindly at you. This was at the time where everyone was up in arms and they were doing anything to salvage their fanbase. 

 

With what Dorian said in the video, I couldn't discern a specific accent. It sounds like it might have something but it's just a lovely english pronounced accent to me. Need to hear more

I don't really know who that guy is, but that gif does a great job of capturing how I hope Dorian will be.  Suave, charming and kind of haughty.
