I will be so disappoint if he isn't available to la girls and the guys...because while there isn't anything wrong with rolling a man to do a m/m play through- I feel so dirty playing a guy in a video game when all I do is complain about the lack of being able to play girls in video games! Lol.

 

Ohhh the DILEMMA! Hahahahaha! Eh, I don't think you should worry. Now, if it's preference to female protagonists? That's fine. If one has the choice between male and females in a game, don't feel dirty ITS EQUALITY!

So, I'm having some real issues tonight with deciphering emotional tone in threads- so I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say but I am a girl and I just personally think if I'm only able to play girls in like 1/5 video games then I should probably play a girl in that one game, hot mustached romances be damned. You know? Lol

Well, for issues of equality, you could always consider that there are still way more straight female protags than gay male protags in video games.

I HATE Doc. You're a medic and you act like a smuggler. His character was so weak and flip flopped... writers didn't know what he was. 

 

But ... my smuggler was a self-taught sawbones himself.  So the wise-cracking medic of a character didn't seem too much of a leap, at least to me.  Especially not on my knight's ship.  Dang, that girl was way too noble and self-sacrificing.  She needed some guy who'd tell her to lighten up sometimes, hehe.

I think the problem with choosing the male sexualities is that there aren't as many widely appealing options. Dorian is really the only companion male with mass appeal and then there's Cullen, who has HUGE mass appeal, but is an NPC. Solas got quite a bit of steam, mostly with women, early on, but it seems like a decent amount is diverting to Dorian now that we've seen more of him. With the females, Sera, Vivienne and Cassandra have always had strong followings. It seems like there would be a pretty even spread of disappointment between males and females if any of them were gated off or not LIs. Then Scribe Girl is really cute and I think most would be happy to have her as an NPC extra. While there are more males, I think the dedicated fans for them are more concentrated. 

 

Earlier on, I felt like it seemed strongly slanted for more males favoring Dorian and more females favoring Solas, but now it seems like just as many females and males are favoring Dorian and less overall are favoring Solas. I just rarely see people in the romance threads rooting for Solas to play for their team now. So, Dorian makes sense as a bisexual option to appease the most people, but then who will they pick for the gay and straight options that would be fair to everyone?

 

Honestly, I'm alright with literally any male being gay but Blackwall, if Dorian is bi. I just really don't want them to pick the "tragic soon to be dead" guy as the first ever gay male companion.

I mostly don't post in those threads now because I get so discouraged by the number of people assuming Solas isn't an option for anybody. I needs mah elf romance.

For what it's worth, Solas and Cullen are pretty equally second runners up for me, after Dorian. 

 

But most people that peg Solas as an LI seem to guess him as straight.

It sounds like he's British, with Indian heritage - so I expect his accent to be more or less English.

Naveen is British though, but I can't say I could tell from so little who the VA is.

It just seems from the context of David's comments that the actor is English and Indian, so we'd be able to hear some sort of Indian accent in his voice - but I don't think it's going to be as strong as the accent from someone who actually grew up in India.

One thing is certain, if Sera is lesbian another companion has to be gay. So Varric, Blackwall, Dorian, Iron Bull or Solas.

We have Blackwall, he could be an LI,yes, but a tragic one.... yay! another tragic gay history, I think bioware learned something from mass effect. Varric loves Bianca...so not gay. Iron Bull could be an option, but the part that says he "will hop into bed with anyone he’s reasonably sure he won’t break", gives a hint that he could be bi. Solas,at first I thought he was the gay option, but now that we know about the other elf, I don't think there's going to be two homosexual elfs. And then we have Dorian, gay? In mi opinion VERY likely... too bad for female inquisitors.

Dorian is the character I've always wanted, and was totally going to role play for when/ if a game comes out where we get to be a human if tevinter origin.
Now I get him as a companion
