Ooh! I only romanced Thane in ME games. Is Steve a cute one? I liked his character! So calm and kind

I agree, I don't do male playthroughs much at all but I will be adding to the beautiful elves of BioWare list with my PC ;-D 

 

Steve won me over when I met him as a FemShep; he is adorable and yer right, there's something soothing about a calm man.  His romance doesn't have a lot of content (Citadel DLC provided more) but I like him a lot over the MShep/Kaidan option.  

 

I really want to make a male dwarf character for Dorian. I'm very intrigued by dwarves in Tevinter culture. I'm not sure if want to make him a rogue or a warrior, though. (I prefer rogues, but I like the narrative of the tiny Warrior trying to protect his mage boyfriend. Who probably would be more amused than thankful. I'll have to see how they play in DAI.) A qunari might be interesting, but I could see Dorian being race-gated against them. Elves could also make for an interesting discussion.

 

I feel bad, but I find playing humans to be so boring!  Perhaps the background of Trevelyan will make playing one more interesting. (My dream background is that the human mage was actually Tranquil, and the Veil shattering fixed them. Alas, super unlikely, but, still, my hope lives on.)

I like the mage/warrior dynamic personally, but I think it might be interesting to do a mage/mage pairing since Dorian probably has a lot to say about the Tevinter ways.  Also, I never felt comfortable romancing Anders so now's my chance to have a mage power couple?  Hehe.

That's actually a really cool idea! Definitely against the norm. It makes me wonder if a mage Inquisitor is an apostate or a Circle mage. I don't think the devs have mentioned anything?

 

Back to Dorian. If he's an exclusive m/m romance then I'm either going to romance him as a (male) rogue Elf or a warrior Qunari. Idk, I'm hoping he's a bi LI so I can have my strong, tall lady!Qunari mage romance him and carry him around bridal style.

 

But heck, I certainly wouldn't be sad if he was m/m exclusive. I just want the D to be romancable.

Here's a link to the wiki section about dwarves in the Imperium. It's really neat. Each of the major Tevinter cities have dwarven embassy, all beneath the ground so the dwaves can retain their caste. And the dwarves supply lyrium, so they're very important, and even have their own branch of government within the Tevinter. Also, there are no know dwarven slaves because of how important they are.

 

I am fascinated by Tevinter dwarves. I am fascinated by Tevinter in general, really, but the dwarven culture there is pretty cool.

What are everyone's general plans for a Dorian romance?  IF he ends up being bi, will you go at him with a female or male first, and what race?  Thanks to fanart I'm pretty much set on a male elf, but someone suggested the QunarixTevinter dynamic might be interesting.  I really hope we get some race/class specific dialogue in the romances, anyways.

 

I think he'll end up being only available for male characters, just a gut feeling. 

 

My first character is really going to depend on how the racial backgrounds and class mechanics end up working out - I'm sort of leaning towards a male human mage, but I'd be very tempted to try out an elf/dwarf/qunari if their race backgrounds end up doing interesting things for the story. I'm definitely going to try them all at some point.

 

The "downside" to DAI looking so incredible, with the number of racial/class combinations it has at this point, is that I can't possibly play every one at the same time. My second playthrough is probably going to be a female qunari, because that combination is the most awesome thing ever.

For a Dorian romance ...well first I'm playing female.

I will see what type of character he is , if he's still OK in my book , I will romance him with a rogue.

Human or Dalish , depending on their background and how  elf end up looking.

 

If human , they are probably going to have some heated debate , because I think my human rogue will be cool with mages ...but that Tevinter thing will be a problem.

If Dalish , they're going to get along just fine.Because I think my Dalish is going to be a bit strange.I'm thinking of a hunter who's really happy about being a nomad.And doesn't want a homeland because he thinks , it will destroy the spirits of his people ( changing too much their current lifestyle) Not bitter about Tevinter or Orlais .Respect mages a great deal because ...well Dalish Keeper.

Probably going to like Dorian because he also cares about his own people , even if they don't agree with what he's doing.

Wow, that's really interesting indeed & I never heard about it!  Thanks for the link.  I don't personally have an interest in playing a dwarf except for variety way down the line, but now I want a game that takes place in Tevinter just so I'd be more inclined to roll one.

 

@elitepinecone - the dev statement that playing a Qunari would bar you from at least one quest line put me off from choosing one as my main playthrough, but I really want to do one for my 2nd playthrough.  If Dorian is barred from m/m Qunari I don't know who I'd choose...Solas, maybe?  Eh.  I think once a lot of people get their hands on the CC we'll find our opinions suddenly changing towards what race we wanna be.

For Dorian, I plan on playing a male elf mage though I'm hesitant. DA2 made me a little nervous. I played a mage only once because I absolutely hated losing Bethany. I hope there isn't anything like that in DA:I.

I know, I know, it's really early for this. When/how does Bioware reveal their face models? Is it provided in credits or just something they decide to give for a few characters? I'm incredibly new to this series in terms of fandom and doing anything besides playing the games. Thanks, Dorian...

 

I'm not sure they have face model.

I think they did for Morrigan ,and Leliana for a trailer?

The faces they're able to pull off with the Frostbite engine are pretty amazing... I think they must had face models or at least really strong references to make faces that are super detailed

I'm kidding but one can dream. But I agree with Moussey, each character so far looks unique and mighty impressive due to FB3, so face models aren't probably needed. Then again, what do I know? Only the devs know.

There hasn't been an official reveal beyond that, though, so we don't have any other information. Well, except for the survey I suppose, but that's two years old.
