To be fair, I don't think they would make both of the elves s/s LIs, but I could be wrong.

Honestly, I can't see how it couldn't possibly happen. 

 

The devs seem to be prioritizing individual stories and appearances much more than they had before, despite whether or not it's part of the popular opinion, so to me it wouldn't be totally out of it if Solas did happen to be gay as well as an elf. They made it seem like if the two elves were both gay it would be completely incidental. 

 

As for Dorian, we actually have very little info to go on except seconds of demo footage and one person's opinion piece. Anything could go from this point! So any guess is really as good as any other...

I see where you're coming from and I don't necessarily disagree.  I would still probably be a little bit peeved if both the exclusively same sex LIs turned out to be elves though, to be honest.

To me, the logic that "Dorian looks gay" makes as much sense as "Vivienne should have been the lesbian because she's into girly things". Like WTF?

Long before we had any info on Dorian people were jumping to the he's gay conclusion off of looks. And, with Felix people are thinking he is gay because of Anders. I'm sorry if I hurt you. With, my long hair and the excessive amount of jewelry I wear I know people stereotype sexuality pretty easily. I am playing devil's advocate because we have no info on him.

If you're waiting for me to put the whole 'because he's a camp guy and it's so obvious he's gay' you're not gonna get it. Basically it's just sensible to have the gay character as someone who's pretty grounded among players and easily relateable, Sera's an elf but so what they're the closest to humans out of all the races.

 

IB is the only Qunari male and if he's romancable he's mainly going to be so for Qunari players among males and females, it makes sense for him not to be gay. Both Cullen and Cole need no explanation for different reasons. Solas seems like who will probably be the 'straight' option for female players plus it's illogical to have both elves same-sex only and Blackwall seems a little less to everyone's tastes compared to Dorian who has a lot of attractive qualities. Dorian is also from Tevinter who aren't so keen on homosexuality apparently. I'm not mentioning this again, but to me it is clear as day who will be the gay male.

 

Lastly it was obvious to me that Sera was going to be female only because having scribe girl as a lesbian would be too much like Traynor.

Why does Solas seem like the male option for female PCs? By default?

I'm sure a lot of people would, but it shouldn't have to say anything about elves as a whole if two of them happen to be gay. Sexual preference is a purely individual thing. 

 

I'm pretty sure their intention with Sera being both gay and an elf wasn't to say that many female elves are gay, but to say Sera personally identifies herself as gay. It could be possible with Solas too, or maybe it's not. 

 

They could throw us another curve ball and Dorian is the straight one, or isn't even romancible at all! 

 

None of us know for sure lol. I'll be placing my bets soon.

Honestly I'm hoping Dorian's bi with a preference for men. In contrast to the other bi male LIs that had preferences for women *shrug*

 

I'll get over it if he's gay but I really hope he's bi XD

All hail Lady Aimo! If I was going for representation I would probably go for Blackwall. If I was going for appealing to a large audience I'd go for Dorian. Blackwall has a lot of fans, true (I'm one of them) but Dorian fits better into the mold of the conventionally attractive, which gaming companies tend to perceive as a safer bet when writing a romance (unless a Garrus happens).

Oh yeah well those guys whine about the fangirls even after he's been proven to be in. And I'm pretty sure the actual fangirls who expected him to be in far outstripped the people claiming he had no chance to be in. So that's hardly 'everyone' thinking Cullen wouldn't be in.

Trust me, being gay myself and knowing enough gay people Blackwall doesn't look like "actual gay people" because gay people in general don't have one distinctive look. With the flamboyance though it just adds that extra flair, not all gay people have it but after seeing Cortez who was pretty grounded it's nice to see a likely gay character with a bit of a spark.

Don't want to get into any fighting, but IF Blackwall did turn out to be the very first fully gay love interest in a Dragon Age game, I would be very disappointed.  He's obviously been a warden for a long time, and is near his calling.  What kind of love interest would he really make?  Thane 2.0?  No thanks.  I loved Thane, but no thanks!  I have to agree that Dorian is the most logical choice based on the evidence at hand.  (though I'll settle for bisexual obviously).

It was a blog post from someone who attended the show and saw the full DA demo. It showcased some dialogue between Dorian and Quzzie about how he felt about Alexius/or his son's death after the fact. Based on however that went, she thought Dorian might be bi or gay but acknowledges she could be wrong.

 

I think it's been disputed before, but she could definitely be right or mistaken on the level of intimacy he had for Alexius/or his son/somebody.

 

It's definitely a legimiate opinion but I don't see it as proof for anything.

No offence taken, and I support your notion that any of the companions could be gay if we're going off realism. I'm just saying that due to the the surrounding characters and taking numbers, races and all the other little details into consideration it seems more likely Dorian will be gay especially with some of the characteristics he expresses.
