The thing is, all my plans will change when I get my hands on the game, and randomly stumble on a very interesting design for my inquisitor in the CC and then I'll roleplay them according to what their looks might indicate. The only thing I'm sure about is that in my first playthrough I'll play either a mage or a warrior, either a human or a dwarf, who romances Cassandra and take Cassandra, Varric and either Dorian or Blackwall (depending on which class I end up choosing) as my party members.

 

As for GaymerX, well, hopefully they'll reveal who the m/m option is then. I'm really impatient for them to reveal another male LI anyways.

 

(And hopefully we'll get a quote and close-up pic for Dorian tonight.  )

Though I have no idea what they're doing as far as marketing is going. It was consistent for a bit with the companion quotes and then the interviews with the writers, but Varric kind of appeared out of nowhere.

I've read this and look this over again and I still find this hard to cite from. The grammar is good and it tell the events in the demo but, the word is sloppy and feels rushed. I get that this was written after a day on the showroom floor so I can understand why it feels rushed. But, with its loose wording they could anything and people take it as truth.

As I said earlier, it's between him and Blackwall. I don't mind either way.

 

So if they do reveal the m/m option, as long as it isn't Solas, I'll be content.

 

It is also very unlikely it will be Solas because two gay elves would be stereotypical and borderline asinine of BioWare.

I'd honestly lose some faith in their creative decision making. Not a deal breaker though.

 

So yeah... Blackwall or Dorian. Bring it on

Am I the only one who thinks Solas is the leas likely to be a love interest? He gives a very strong mentor vibe.

Nah, but maybe. On his profile on dragonage.com it says he's "willing to jump into bed with anyone that won't break." hahahahaha

 

So, this is probably hinting that he is at least bisexual, if anything. (When I say "at least" I don't mean to offend I just mean, if any romance that's what they most likely would be.

 

Solas, being the only other party member who is an elf leads to the conclusion that he won't be the s/s male romance because that would seem racist. "All elves are homosexual." or "All homosexuals are elves." - I don't think Bioware would be that horrible.

 

Blackwall, on the other hand isn't very attractive, and I don't think I would romance him as either gender. (Furthermore he seems to have a strict personality, kind of like Duncan, who wasn't my favorite character. He also isn't a viable relationship because he's had the taint for a very long time. BUT, disease didn't stop Bioware with Thane.

 

Finally, what do we know about Cole, is it possible he could be a m/m option? I know about the book Asunder, but I never read it.

I still think you're right that it is Dorian, but I'm super-wary of jumping to conclusions based on overanalysing all the companions and ruling people in or out as gay and straight. The pages and pages of speculation is a bit.... tiring, surely.

 

It can lead to false expectations, and I *genuinely* think people are putting far too much confidence in their most basic assumptions - Bioware has never talked about the numbers involved in the romances, but everyone is still assuming it's going to be 2/2/2. People are assuming Iron Bull will be available because of one line in his character bio. People are making all sorts of claims about Solas when we know next to nothing about the character.

 

The m/m romance could be an NPC that we've never even heard of, come to think of it.

Cole is not a romance.   From Freddie's conversation about Iron Bull, it sounds as if he is definitely a sleep with anyone guy.   I agree that making Solas gay in addition to Sera would be a bit odd.    I'm a bit puzzled why not being attractive (to you) means that Blackwall cannot be the gay romance.   Seriously, gay guys come in all shapes and sizes and some you'd never know were gay at all until you get to know them.  May be that was why he was happy to go into the Wardens because he was never going to have a wife and kids.   Dorian looks the likely candidate if you buy into the gay stereotype idea - which is why I really hope he isn't, just to show everyone you shouldn't judge by appearances.   I'm not bothered either way since I just adjust the sex of my Inquisitor accordingly.

I thought you were talking about all of the speculation in general, not just the romance stuff. We had a nice discussion about necromancy/healing and Alexius earlier this week/last week.
