I think Mr. and Mrs. Weekes attend the event too. I'm not quite sure.
Their names weren't on the schedule of panels. They could just be attending, though they aren't on any of the panels.

Well, Dorian's supposedly the outcast and rebel in Tevinter society already, so why wouldn't he take a different view to sexuality than what's considered 'the norm' in Tevinter as well?
A (still hypothetical) gay Dorian wouldn't be gay simply to be a rebel.
People don't choose who they find sexually attractive.
Varric got a profile, everyone. No Dorian tonight.
I think Varric had his by Thursday/Friday. (It's Saturday for me) But they could be saving him for GaymerX

There may be a bit of an info drought in regards to the rest of the companion reveals, then.
If they are revealing Dorian at GaymerX, which would be awesome, then they could possibly officially reveal Solas late next week. After that, they would have approximately 2 weeks to kill before GaymerX and the theoretical Dorian reveal.
They are almost certainly saving Cole for last, if they even reveal him. I would be shocked if they revealed him before Dorian.
*snip*

Ikr, I agree they're saving him for later, we haven't seen any gameplay and really only one picture

MY BOYFRIEND.
YOU DRAW HIM SO FINE, MS LINDSEY.
Is it officially confirmed that he's an outcast, or are we just assuming it? (That's a genuine question.)
From his survey profile:
Dorian Pavus is a magister. The title conjures fear of arcane masters who once enslaved nations. Dorian may wield power of the magisters, but he delights in not being what you’d expect of them. Brazen and clever, this outcast is on a crusade to rid his homeland of its corruption.
Patrick and Karin Weekes are going to GaymerX, but not yet decided on weather or not they will be on the panel.

is this a romance related panel? if so I think patrick will inevitably, magically materialize on it regardless of any and all plans to do otherwise
Would point out that Dorian may not be an Altus, the offspring of one of the old elite bloodlines, but a Laetans, a mage from a non-mage commoner family, in which case the Altus Magisters might not be that bothered if he did not perpetuate himself since his blood was not "pure" anyway.

There are several panels for Bioware, but one of them is
Building a Better Romance (Presented by BioWare)
"A discussion of how romances came to be in BioWare games—why are they done as they are? What purpose do they serve in the overall game? What issues exist, and is there a better way to make them that isn’t simply “add additional content”? We’d like to hear your thoughts and questions."

Hell, I kinda want him to be an Altus, to make his actions even more revolutionary.

why can't i just teleport to these things. why must i be a mere mortal bound to the earthly burden of air travel

Well hey!
Now all the well known companions are behind us! We're moving on to VAs and other companions, especially Dorian! WOOHOO!!!!!!

Yeah, though the whole concept of Tevinter nobility isn't really made clear enough in World of Thedas. It's a magocracy, but magical power isn't necessarily hereditary and it seems like any old person can rise in power if they're strong and ruthless enough.
By definition surely being part of the Magisterium (the "Imperial Senate") would make someone nobility, but the Imperium is still said to have fairly rigid social classes that seem to be defined by something other than just being magisters.
(And the way Imperial Senate succession works, literally anyone can be appointed as the heir to a sitting magister and thus be ennobled, in a way.)

It's all so confusing...

Could still be a while. They haven't done a video with Vivienne, and we've seen how much they love showing her, hahah (she is fabulous, but I just want to see the rest of the companions now). They could start revealing stuff on Solas, which could take a few days as well, even the advisors if they plan on including them. Blackwall's VA, Sera's, Cassandra's...we could be very unlucky, hahah
My guess would be GaymerX.
Something else I noticed in the wiki page on the Imperium:
"Most noted throughout Thedas, however, is the use of elephant mounts that have been imported into Tevinter for centuries through the coastal colonies near the northwestern jungles."
I wondered before if Dorian (or perhaps his parents) might actually be Tevinter citizens from an assimilated human culture in some far-flung corner of the empire, given that we've never really seen somebody from the Imperium who wasn't fairly white.
Having him (or his ancestors?) come from the people in the "northern" regions of Thedas would be an interesting insight into how cosmopolitan Tevinter actually is, and a cool chance to get an introduction to a part of the world that's never really been talked about before.
(Though looking at the map I can't really work out what the northern jungle actually is - it's not the qunari-controlled Par Vollen and Seheron, so is it the Donarks? That would make the colonies Sundarin and Qundalon, even though the last one sounds Qunari in origin.)

Does that mean the that the Architect is not Dorian great great great great great great great great great great grandfather?
I'm surprised that Tevinter's view on sexuality is that close to what was found in classical societies. Having a nation based on Rome isn't anything new, but I don't remember seeing that influence extend to ideas about sex. If Dorian is an LI it would be cool if the romance was used to flesh out the nature of sexuality in the Imperium
On the other hand, I suppose that doing so could be rather difficult considering how important an individual's relative social status and power are in determining acceptable sexual roles.

If Tevinter society echoes late-Roman Byzantine, someone's background (purity) is not as much of a big deal than it once was as long as they're considered a citizen (or magical family I guess?). Too many people assimilated from different cultures and with the loss of empire and wars and such. They've even likely had non Altus archons by now....
I looked it up, it's here in World of Thedas:
A third of the Archons in the history of the Imperium have been Laetans.
Personally I don't care if he is Altus or Laetan. All I really care about is that his story and motivations make sense, more than "I'M GOING TO REBEL cause we're so GRIM DARK AND STEREOTYPICALLY EVIL IN THIS SERIES!" You know, an actual story.
It says that Laetans are known to "vie viciously for power." So he can just as easily be disgusted with the system if he saw all of the backstabbing and such some Laetans do.
Here's the page on Tevinter mage social class. I got it from Googlebooks that has previews.
Also, I wondered why he was with Alexius and his son. Do Magisters train their children some? Do they have schools? Do they have a master/apprentice system? Is it possible Dorian was a Laetan or even Soporati-turned-Laetan and brought up by Alexius since a young age like 10...
